- Welcome back to another episode of Wisconsin Fisherman today we headed out to a local lake to try to catch a meal of panfish for my parents for dinner! The fish were everywhere but they took some work to get them to bite. We ended up with enough fish for a nice meal! It seemed like the small fly presentation towards the end really improved the hook up when the fish would at least come in and look at it!

Looked like an aquarium down there! I was so hoping you'd get a double. I used to fish with a jig that had 2 hooks oriented in a straight line; I never got a double on it either. Thanks for the fun video.

Just got some bluegill and crappie on otter lake in Wisconsin today, would be cool to see you at jigs up on lake wissota in chippewa county Feb 2
I fish with a camera and do the exact same thing with panfish. Sunnies with the bump on there top of there heads get the heart rate going, and a tiny one keeps pissing with the jig. Normally here a northern will spook all sunfish here. You can tell when one is swimming in all panfish back up and wonder the other direction. Great video

I think that initial jig as your dropper was a Kenders Akua flare jig. The Crappies love those!

Favorite fish is Pumkinseed, but my uncle has a farm pond and mixes blugills and redears and they make a sweet cross.

My favorite fish is a northern pike just because the way they hit and how hard they fight. They are like fresh water cruise missiles.

My favorite fish to catch (and eat) is bluegills. I love catching BIG bluegills especially, though I don't eat any over 9 inches. Crappies are ok. Their meat is a lot softer, which I don't care for as much. Northern Pike is my favorite eating fish.
Pike is my favorite also. It's better than walleye. However walleye is good to eat as well .
We went ice fishing in Michigan for pan fish and used red earth worms and i caught 25 blue gills that were 7 to 8 inches. The other three in our Groupe caught a few more than i did. And as big with a few smaller but not by much. We all caught some crappies i had 4 just over the legal size they caught one that was 14 1/2 inches.the rest were 12 to 13. The one that set up the trip was my cousins brother inlaw he did the best and caught 2 walleyes over 21 inches and releasted them to get bigger. I bought the red worms at a bait shop in Oklahoma before i drove up to Michigan because they said they couldnt find any worm in February up there. There are a few local growers that i go to for all my worms its a 2 hour drive one way but worth it. I usually by enough for a couple months at a time. I have a good place to keep them and we have horses to help feed them.

Great video! Even panfish can be picky, right? It's interesting that the crappie committed more than the sunfish.
Anything that bites is my favorite. But I always catch bottle bass. So I'd say bottle bass is my favorite.

Another solid video man, coming to you from North Dakota. Im waiting to get on the ice here but we had 3 days the last two weeks of wind gusts over 50 mph and the ice really hasnt formed yet, maybe now but with snow on top of ice that could be 7 inches in one spot and 2 inches a foot away, Ill wait. Your video when your snowmobile went through last ice season always makes me think. Take care!

Just a suggestion. Try a white trout magnet with a yellow crappie nibble on it. It's a monster on panfish and crappie
Me and my buddy went after bluegill crappie and shell cracker over 1 lb+ with 1lb. Line
I found that after fishing for a while with no hits ,I’d give my bait a spritz of fish formula to liven things up
Try out Custom Jigs and Spins nuclear ant!!! I promise you’ll love it, it is an absolute panfish slayer!
Try jigging a half inch off the bottom. Even hit the bottom sometimes. Slow and steady, barely making it wiggle. Use a spring bobber and you can really jig it steady.
Bought some of that bever tail at the ice show last week.

I normally have no luck with plastics but in your next ice fishing video can you try wax worms and see the difference or do plastic vs live bait video. Nice job

It's been my experience that with all those fish on the camera in non-primetime they won't bite much. I've watched it on the camera many times though that around 3:30 to 4:15 this time of year you can't even get the bait all the way down to the bottom! They turn on like a light bulb at that time!
I love kwik trip chicken strips and think they are the best chicken strips but my girlfriend says I am crazy I am glad to hear I am not the only one that loves those chicken strips.

I like using an underwater camera too. I find the fish usually look bigger on camera, then I pull them up thinking they are huge… but they are not.
Yeah that happens to me on almost every fish lol
Are you normally on weed edges or on a deep basin any info how to find panfish would be nice
On weed edges, I'll explain more in the next video!
You should use a live worm. The fish will smell the bait before they bite it. They can't smell what's fake. That's why they are so hesitant.
Nothing beats chasing those beefy 10” bull gills IMO pound for pound you can’t find a better fighting fish

use salad shrimp for bait....they cant resist it----guarenteed................and they thread the hook perfectly and are resilient.....the fish are taste and smell sensitive and cant deny or resist the taste of shrimp.

I would suggest useing a jig head instead of a split shot for weight ,you had at least 6 fish hit your sinker

Your bait doesnt look natural, that's why they aren't biting. The jig needs to be laying verticle.
