- Today Todd and I headed down to a spot that I call the pike pond. It was a long walk out there but worth it! We were using shiner minnows and I even jigged in a pike on a shrimp!
Hope you Enjoyed

Ohh that's a good fish, a real good fish... no it's not🤣 great job guys, epic day
For those that are not used to circle hooks: Circle hooks go well with letting the Pike run longer. They will usually run, stop, turn the bait around, and then swallow it. Then start moving again. All you need to do then is pull in the line. Do not set the hook like a J-hook as you will pull the circle hook right out of their mouth. If one just pulls the line slowly until the fish is on, the circle hook will pin up on the side of the fish's mouth. I use circle hooks all the time. More than doubled my hook up percentage.
I had a blast! Thank you again!
It was so much fun!
From an old timer that pike fished for over 50 years you will hook up many more fish if you let them finish their first run stop to turn the minnow and swallow it then they will start to move away and that is the time to set the hook. My hookups are over 90%.
Thanks for the tip Bob!
That was very nice of you Bob!
I agree with you, I do the same and have great luck with it too. FISH ON 🎣 🤠
Be nice of you to leave a few smaller fish out of the holes on the snow for the Bald Eagles to feast on!
I kept missing pike the last 2 years and started using bigger hooks. Nearly a 100% hook rate
We call those pike hammer handles in Iowa :)
That is fricken insane! Especially how it was only in like a foot or two of water. Love these videos👌
Right! Thanks Stan!
Great video and to funny the most pike on and flags flying that I have seen this year on you tube. LOL
Y'all are my favorite channel on TH-cam love the ice fishing videos!
Thanks man!
I've never had a day ice fishing where I was pulling tip ups like this. I'm so jealous looks like a blast.
I finally got into some yellow perch and ended up with 23....
I was on my knees at the same hole for 10 fish in a row... Couldn't even set the trap in the hole and bam
That’s really cool to see those old timers going ice fishing, especially at a lake that looks like it’s quite the hike to get too!
Right that's exactly that!
@@Wisconsin_Fisherman great video man, are you going to be fishing the walleye run?! I’ve never had the chance to fish it and would love to see a video from you of some awesome action!
love these videos, everytime i see you post a video i get soo exited to see what your gonna catch.
Glad you like them! Thanks man!
Always looking forward to your videos.
You guys ran a marathon! Great video.
The bite was full ON!!
Good day of fishing 🎣
When you release those pike it funny how well they find the hole while flopping! About 50/50 lost fish and caught fish, but get a little better after a while. Not your hole dude! Put some water in that minnow bucket. They’re starving for oxygen. 22 pike is a good day of fishing! Good job guys!
Those bait coolers are fantastic!
Gotta let it run for a second time usually so the fish gets all the way in the mouth. They may not have the hook in first run.
🎬 action 🎬, great video
always fun on those day's
i have some of those old school tip ups and the flag was gone on a couple of them, so i clipped a big red and white bobber on it... works great.
Right on! You can buy replacement flags for them
I use shrimp for catfishing and have often wanted to try ice fishing and bobber fishing
Pro tip-let the pike have the line about 45 seconds longer before you set the hook.
Nice job on your pike bro
Reminds me of a shallow lake I ice fished when I was younger. Lots of fish would bring up muddy water lol
Love your videos bro😎👍
Great video very exciting coming from outdoors with Mike northern Alberta Canada 🙋🏾
Glad you enjoyed it Thanks Mike!
@@Wisconsin_Fisherman You’re very welcome
My grandpa was that one guy with the packers jacket
You put on some miles run to all those flags! Fun to watch. I use a clicker too..."its a clicker but not a keeper"! Thanks Kyle!
You betcha! Next video is a little special for you stay tuned!
First
Nice ice
Awesome video!
Glad you enjoyed it
Shrimp hey? At that, was that cooked shrimp? Imagine how well you could do if they were raw shrimp! I use raw shrimp for catfish and do well on them.
Beaver Dam tip-ups are meant to be set on the "loop" wire. If they are set on the loop, the flag can't reach the board to freeze to it. The vertical wire goes through the hole in the loop and the loop goes under the spinner. That way the wind has a very hard time tripping the flag. There are four tension settings on a BD. Two on each end of the spinner. It depends on if the spinner is turning into or away from the loop for the other two tensions.
Been tip up fishing for 35 years. Have never had a flag freeze to a board. Not sure what you are doing. Doesn’t need to go on the loop but it can.
@@reidsimonson Fishing in rain or wet snow and then the temperature tanks leading to all kinds of things freezing.
those old style smelt hooks are illegal in Wisonsin now
Late ice is best ice......get the pickling salt out!
how do you like the Engel 7.5 bait cooler? I can't decide between that and the 13...
I have the 7.5 and 19 I love them both!
Can I please give you a milwaukee m18 fuel drill driver? Only makes sense Wisconsin Fisherman uses a Mikwaukee Tool drill!!!
Sure! I’d take one lol I have a mail address in the description
Where is this we need to go fishing together it would be good for both our channela
Wisconsin fisherman I would look into reel magic so the line dosent freeze and never saw. You guys measure any of. The pike. How. Did. You know. They. Were legal
I’ll check that out, no size limit here
@@Wisconsin_Fisherman oh ok
What lake is it on
Can you catch and release pike after season closes
You can not specifically fish for pike.
what lake where you fishing on
Which auger are you using? I'm in the market for one and looking for suggestions. Thanks
It’s a Razr ice auger. Check them out! I’ve been using them for 6 years! Www.Razrpower.com
my best day for pike fishing was 120 pike and around 320 keeper perch
Dang! cleaned up that lake lol
@@Wisconsin_Fisherman lake Huron, unlimited supply they are there every year in big numbers
I'd hate too see if you caught some good sized pike.
Second
Jaw jackers then you should not lose so many
Yeah probably should have done that
The reason why you guys lose so many is because you guys pull it so hard at First.😢
Exactly correct. You gotta take the slack out of the line first then set it.
It’s happening too often. See below this comment.
With that many dinks in the pond, it's not a healthy fishery. You need to remove all those fish if you want to catch any big ones. They're all stunted.
Our gear is put away, we have no ice
Oh, I'm sorry to hear that! Still going good up here!
@@Wisconsin_Fisherman We'll be yaking pretty soon for some eyes on Bago. We seen a few out on some ice yesterday by Strobe Island on Little Butte Des Morts, but that was just crazy after getting 1-2 inches of rain and a week of 40ish degree highs and a LOT of open water.
