you picked out the same points I did, the fuel tube routing is weird and looks crimped in some spots. BTW mine eventually had an almost instant fuel tank issue because it's just not well sealed, I've gotten a new one since, but not yet installed. Keep an eye out on the back pressure when engine goes to high RPM, mine tends to starve for fuel bc of the air leak.

After 20 years of nitro power I recently stepped into the electrified world and this is why. Lol. Sometimes it is fun to fiddle with tuning but I believe the neighbors prefer the battery power. 😁

Nothing wrong with the extra torque in electric as well.
just finished the entire video, had to watch in section, was doing my own thing for a while. Can you tell me if you heard the 2-speed shift yet? I don't think I heard it? Not sure if you were doing half or full throttle in some of those runs. You definetly over primed it thats why it was so tough to start, im really looking forward to you full review on this. It's kind of fun watching other people talk about a truck you own, right!!
Yes shifted into second but during break-in I know YOU know that overly rich fuel settings doesn't allow for second gear to engage well. I've been messing around with it. Snaps wheelies on command but I'm wanting to keep it just a touch rich for at least another tank or two slowly tuning it. The idle screw is some type of plastic and sucks but I'm having a BLAST.

@@rcguygarage This is a pretty underrated truck for what it is. Considering it's a 1/8 big block 2 speed for under 300 bucks RTR. you know. Also the redcat customer service is good, if you need. I cant wait till you get the second gear to kick. Mine also starts to starve for fuel when it's shifting, weird. I think its a fuel tank issue, because the tank always seems partially opened after a high Rpm run.

@@hybrid32494 I can second what Hybrid is saying that Redcat has good customer service. Back in 2015 I bought a redcat racing shockwave that snapped a crank right after break in. With out question redcat sent me a new motor and sent a return label with it for the bad motor. Totally different outcome then I was expecting with all the reviews about redcat and even traxxas having horrible costumer service.
bro, I got the same truck I did videos on, im really enjoying this vide now. They got me with the fake aluminum capped oil shocks too, ahha. And yes it's got the plastic spur, but you gotta admit that it's pretty light for a 1/8 big block truck, so it should be fine considering it's light.

@@rcguygarage yup, I could have told you to expect that. The pull cord is really thin on these you noticed. And the engine is pretty high on compression. This is an SH 21 motor, so actually a pretty good mill for the money. Most people get the rotostart system from redcat for these.

If you preheat the engine with a heat gun first starts are a lot easier.
I'm having difficulties in starting my car, it's the same as yours, when I manage to start it, it gets high revs and then the engine goes out, I've already changed the fuel tank and spark plugs, I don't know if it's out of adjustment , Would you help me ?

When you loosened the glow plug you was allowing extra air to get in which was making it turn over. all you had to do was open the idle abit more LOL
The motor was flooded as to why I loosened the plug 😂🤣👍
Thread the red and black wires on sides of the battery box it fits right in and the connector lays flat in the upper groove of the battery box and put the pin back in no problem and no need for rubber bands

that's what's binding and making that sound when your rolling it
Its the mesh either in the front or rear diff.

@@rcguygarage i did bind it again and again. Buta after 10 min runs, suddenly no response from the remote. It do its thing on its own. Crapy. But thanks. I will put another receiver in it to test it out.
I always get the itch to go back to nitro and every now and then I watch a vid like this and am quickly reminded of why I went to brushless. It's painful to watch and gave me flashbacks of when I tried my best and failed to enjoy the nitro half of the hobby.

Can you tell me why mine earthquake redcat 3.5 wont start? Its been sitting for a while with fuel in it.. I tried starting it and the pullstart broke.. I installed an electric start and bought a bigger glow plug igniter and nothing..
Simple steps. Air, fuel, glow. Check for glow then check that you're pulling fuel into carb air is obvious. If all is good leave plug loose and try to start.
Fuel might be bad. leaving fuel in it is not a good idea from personal experience. My also need a better/hotter glow too! The stock glow plug that comes in it are not the greatest of plug.
so it seems to me the ez start option is huge. Pull starting for the birds ehh?
For me and this high comp low quality pull start that would be a YES
@@rcguygarage lol! I know they have 2 different engines (same size diff build?) on this apparently the one with the black head top can't use easy start. Never seen one of them tho. so idk.
If the compression is too high and it breaks your pull cord Because that’s what it did to mine back the glow plug out some

I have the smaller 1/10 Redcat's and yes the pull cord sucks. Get the starter wand and the back plate for the motor.

@@rcguygarage i still have it shockingly. i kept it for parts. motor is still good servos tires and so on. i recently pulled my old savage ss out of the closet and fueled it up and it came to life after a few seconds.. i fully rebuilt it 5 years ago with a lrp ZR.30 SPEC.4. it rips like crazy

@@bustilloset listen to how the motor runs. Get it hot first before tuning, make several passes. Put it on a block and hammer the throttle from a steady idle. If it bogs and smokes a ton, the bottom end is too fat. If it stumbles and then winds out with little smoke, bottom end is too lean.
Set the bottom first, always!
Then set your top end. Again, listen to how it sings, and most importantly, how it settles. Be aggressive getting on and off the throttle. If it settles down low and loads up, then returns to idle, it needs to be leaned out on the top. If it comes off with a high idle, it's too lean on the top. Takes a lot of practice to listen. Tune your engine based off the little hand on a clock. Change your top end tune 1 hour at a time, and make a pass. Repeat until she's happy.
Stick with electric buddy... Let it run

How easy was replacing the pull start does it come assembled with a back plate or something to stay assembled? I have one on the way but i couldn't tell from the sale pictures
The electric start is apparently the way to go with this motor as the compression to pull start strength ratio doesn't match
