Have you experienced screen burn-in? For more content I suggest watching my AirTags review, which explores how well or not well, they work with slightly older model iPhone, such as the iPhone X - th-cam.com/video/GNL03GdqhmI/w-d-xo.html
you forgot temperature , it effects burn in speed massively. if you keep your phone cool during gaming , it delays burn in game buttons. and its tru for lcd ghosting too.
I’ve had massive screen burn on my iPhone X for about 2years. Worst display I’ve ever had. Can clearly see keyboard, time, Facebook icons & more no matter what I’ve got on display.
Hi Allan, thanks for sharing. Sorry to hear you have burn-in on your iPhone X. My suggestion would be for your next iPhone to try implement some of the tips mentioned in the video to hopefully limit the chances of burn-in, as I have found these to really help for me.
From my experience, there best way to prevent burn-in on phones is to watch fullscreen content (videos, games). The pixels where static UI elements like the navigation bar, battery icon and clock are will only ever display black or white when doing regular phone stuff and are the places most likely to start burning in. The only way to counteract the uneven degradation of those pixels is to get them to display other colors. So for me I'd always notice slight image retention of my status bar icons when looking at a gray background, but after I started zooming in every time I watched TH-cam on my phone it completely disappeared.
plenty of games have static elements and watching or playing gets the phone hot therefore making it even easier for the thin amoled/oled screens to get a burn in.
What you are saying only matters for screen retention. Burn in doesn’t go away cuz you display different colors. Burn in and screen retention are 2 separate things that just happens to look the same
@@tricker7060 Burn in and image retention are not 2 separate issues. If you consistently get image retention from certain UI elements or apps they will eventually get burnt in if you don't do anything to counteract it. From a Samsung community post: 'Screen burn is permanent (or extremely long term) image retention that never disappears (or that takes weeks or months to disappear). There is it seems to be a connection between image retention and screen burn, to the extent that image elements that cause image retention can lead eventually to screen burn. You could even see image retention as a warning that something you’re watching a lot could eventually lead to screen burn, and so needs to be handled with extra care (more on this later). But the two are not the same in either their cause or the permanency of their effect.'
This 100%. For all that Samsung seems to harp on about having the best displays, I can’t believe they didn’t do good burn in mitigation before Apple. I know my mum’s Galaxy S9 had keyboard and navigation bar burn in to a noticeable degree, my older iPhone X had basically zero burn in like as shown here when we both upgraded in 2020. Idk how they’re doing such a good job mitigating it - my mum uses her phone a fraction of the amount I do, I’m always texting outdoors on max brightness and nothing - yet it’s her keyboard that’s burnt in! And you notice it even on the Google homepage.

Hi Deepak, I agree! Apple was late to make the switch to OLED compared to Android, however this gave them time to further optimise the technology before it was implemented on iPhone.
That is true, hopefully in the near future OLED technology will progress further, to a point where burn-in is eliminated. Or perhaps an alternative technology such as a new version micro-led will provide similar benefits to OLED but without the downsides.
all oleds get burn in currently, depends on what content is being displayed (especially if it's static like menus, icons etc) the brightness (higher is worse) and how many hours you use your phone/tv. On a phone it's rarely an issue, it gets outdated or broken after 3-4 years and replaced with a new one, and usage in hours is ususally not high enough for really bad burn in. But after a couple years you might notice shapes and shadows that weren't there when it was brand new

I'm Brazilian, it was the only video on the topic I found. I also have an iPhone X that was activated in 2018, but I got it in 2021. I never saw any visual changes on its screen, such as burning, but one day I decided to test to see if I had it, I tested it with the classic red, green, blue, and I didn't see anything. When I tested with gray I saw a slight outline of that bar that is down all the time, that's when I noticed it. As I've always used the dark theme (since 2021) the bottom bar and top status bar are white, and I think this accelerated the wear of the pixels, now I use the light theme so that they are black, and activate the reduction of the white point in the accessibility. In fact, Apple did a great job on these screens, you have to care about it and test it almost in the lab to realize kk (laughs). My iPhone 12 already has burn in. Thankfully i have apple care.
Hi Thomas, sorry to hear burn-in occurred so soon on your iPhone 12, good to have Apple Care! Hopefully these tips can help decrease the chances of burn-in happening in the future :)
This scares me. I just ordered an iPhone 12, and I'm already considering cancelling the order and getting an 11.
@@Tristin471 Do be scared it’s ok since it went away it hasn’t came back it’s been great. I also got mine when it first launched so it was a early unit. You should be good
Happens a lot more on a Samsung phone..
Hi Jay, thanks for sharing your experience
I have a tiktok burn in and I want to fix it
Hi Sanne, sorry to hear that. Unfortunately this is not possible
Samsung phones are so much better purely for that pioneering (and flexible) OLED screen
It is very cool technology from Samsung, but still has some way to go in durability. This kind of tech makes me excited for the future!
I just bought a refurbished iPhone X, burn in is God awful, being returned
Hi Allen, right thing to do! Fortunately there must be many on the market without burn-in. Good luck!
I had a Samsung S7 edge before. SEVERE burn in that you could see on every page of the device.. and worst of all I had it on no screen timeout
Not planning to make that mistake again :)
Same here!
The biggest reason I don't buy OLED devices.... There you go. Tadaaaaaa....
OnePlus 6 burnt after 3 years
Iphone is garbage like everything else. I never have keypad on persistently and have keyboard burn. I lov leave other things on way more and nothing. It figures. Typing on iPhone is horrendous. Constant misspelled words. Cannot sub nor fix manually in settings about 25% of words misspell. Fnuck iPhone.
I have it on my XR :(
Have what? Burn in? The XR has an LCD, burn in is not a problem for it.
@@HuyTran-sb2ql then i dont know whats on my screen, after exiting apps theres basically a “burn in” on my screen from one app. Like if im on here, i can see a few buttons from tiktok on my screen still

My iphone 14 plus in warranty, just 6 months old facing oled burn in issue. All the time battery icon and network bars remain active on screen even when I am on a grey or dark wallpaper zoom in. Apple customer care refused to replace the display. They say device has passed all their display tests. What can I do? Please advise
