I am a Korean-American and have been following this, both American and Korean coverage/streams. I honestly don’t buy the interviewee’s response to the intent of getting Johnny to the statue for the apology. They wanted to take justice into their own hands and receive praises for getting an apology out of him. Otherwise, why would you hug and take selfies after the fact when you don’t even know what he actually said? I also caught Yoodalgeun’s brief live stream (which he immediately stopped after 5 minutes and took down) right after he came back from that meeting at the statue. He was frustrated and said that he strongly felt Johnny’s apology was disingenuous. All in all, this guy knew he fucked up and is now trying to twist the story to make it seem like he did this to bring the issue to a brighter light. Did they succeed in getting more coverage? Accidentally yes, because everyone was pissed off even more after that. But was that his original intent? HIGHLY doubtful.

Korea is the most welcoming country I've been to, but you will face consequences if you take advantage of their kindness. They are a nation that has suffered at the hands of foreign occupation many times over its history, yet it has persevered and maintains it's distinct culture and people despite the attempts by other nations to dominate them. You would have to be an absolute 바보 to think you can change this, they will show patience until you prove you wish to take advantage, then they will take you down swiftly if you are not acting in good faith. Korea is the one foreign nation I would fight for outside of the US, because they welcomed me with open arms and treated me like family for years when I was stationed far from my home and away from my own family. 대한민국! 화이팅!

There is a 'johnny somali law'? Don't call it that. Call it by his 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭 name. He represents the sort of all too common conduct of those from a particular background that feels entitled that the japanese and koreans must be watchful about.
@canadianpopeye8066 it wouldn't happen though if there weren't so many people who obviously lead pretty pathetic lives & choose to watch such stuff. I don't understand how watching someone be publicly tormented by an idiot can be seen as entertainment

Exactly. How did Park Chung hee fund his military industrial project? By Japanese reparation money. Japanese Prime Minister Tanaka Kakuei also did an apology. Honestly this whole apology schtick is complete bs anyways.
@@byakurenhoujuu Honestly, I really dislike this whole "apology" stuff in the first place, because it's war. Everbody in history has wronged somebody else in one way or another. China continuously facilitates the sexual slavery of North Korean defector females yet not a single cent has been asked from China about it. China has also done lots of terrible things to their neighbors yet China never officially apologizes about it. So it's either we all apologize about it or we don't apologize about it.
@darpmosh6601 well, some warcrimes and warconduct are worse than others. I personally believe that it's kind off inpossible for any of Japans apologies to ever be accepted by Korea. I do agree about the China stuff.

Good on Korea for turning this joke into a loot Goblin.
Imagine british/german/French leftists displaying as much patriotism as yongman. They would never. They would actively help somali.
i have enjoyed your thoughtful coverage of this situation and your respectfulness to the korean people, but in iterview you do tend to sound like anenglish person talking to foreigners, loud and slow english, i know you wish to let the interpreter and the wider audience get what your saying, but you could do that without some of the exaggeration, apart from that small peeve you are doing a grand job keep it up
I heard at least 2 Cantonese TH-cam channel talks about it a week ago
There is a 'johnny somali law'?
Don't call it that.
Call it by his 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭 name.
He represents the sort of all too common conduct of those from a particular background that feels entitled that the japanese and koreans must be watchful about.
🇰🇷🥬🇰🇷🥬🇰🇷🥬🇰🇷🥬🇰🇷‼️👍
The platforms are the ones that allow this and should be charged.
@canadianpopeye8066 it wouldn't happen though if there weren't so many people who obviously lead pretty pathetic lives & choose to watch such stuff. I don't understand how watching someone be publicly tormented by an idiot can be seen as entertainment
Let's hope that bill passes soon
In Japan for the cold season love Japan made family here and very happy I didn’t chose to make one in Korea instead. Japan is better in every single way these type of haters can cry about this comfort girl thing for another hundred years and people will still love Japan more … Kinder people and much more beautiful land and culture.
Almost makes one wonder what Japan must have gone through to become the country that you love so much. You don't suppose it had anything to do with World War II, do you?
@ Yeah that’s your interest as a boring elderly white dude sticking his nose in stuff. The west sucks now period I hope over time Japan Korea and the entire east distance themself from the woke west.
johnny somali admitted he knew about the comfort women in previous videos. hes just lying now to see if he can get a lesser sentence.
I will say the "Japan has never issued and official apology for these events" is very iffy.
Exactly. How did Park Chung hee fund his military industrial project? By Japanese reparation money. Japanese Prime Minister Tanaka Kakuei also did an apology. Honestly this whole apology schtick is complete bs anyways.
@@darpmosh6601 They also tried to pay reparations directly to surviving comfort women, which was not accepted. It's a very iffy situation.
@@byakurenhoujuu It's true, but that's life. Without invasions, we East Asians probably would've never opened up to the world and experienced technology.
