I don’t understand after NK talked about the worth of some instruments and ‘new’ builds where you can’t play music from their own era on let alone older repertoire - but yet he chooses to play Elgar on the Klais at Ingolstadt .
This is absolutely fascinating. And just as fascinating is episode 4 with Simon Preston. But what about the missing episodes? Do you have the Nicolas Danby episode 5 (which is mentioned at the end of episode 4)? And it would be so good to find out who are, and to hear, the organists for episodes 1 & 2 and any others that are not currently on here, at the time of writing.
Sigh, Kynaston and his reputation for steamrollering through pieces purely to show his technique (with wrong notes, still) rather than adopt a better, slower tempo.
Thank you for posting this. Nicolas is a wonderful player, an all round lovely bloke and fantastic teacher.
May I say, this series is just wonderful! Tremendous recordings and wonderfully illuminating interviews. Thank you so much for sharing this treasury!
So glad you're enjoying it!

The odd wrong note I agree, but exciting playing must surely count for something?
