  • It’s archivist David Thomas’ last video for us before he retires and he’s showcasing here some Camborne and Tuckingmill treasures!
First is an example of the most beautiful handwriting within the pages of a 19th century Tuckingmill banns of marriage register - it almost looks like it is printed!
This is the excellent penmanship of School Master at the nearby Anglican National School, Richard Perkin Chatten.
Secondly, from the Churchwardens' account book of the parish of Camborne, is another superb example in Richard Perkin Chatten’s hand - a copy from an older document - a 1727 Terrier of the Parsonage etc at Camborne, showing the names of witnesses, all well-known Camborne names.
And now for a tantalising clue in a mystery that has puzzled historians for years - why there are two different sets of handwriting within Bewnans Meriasek?
The Life of St Meriadoc (Bewnans Meriasek) manuscript, dates from 1504 and was on loan to us from the National Library of Wales for our Out of the Ordinary exhibition in 2021.
Listen to find out a clue that links this amazing manuscript with Camborne parish Churchwardens' accounts from the mid-16th century!
This video contains a white blur feature to obscure a member of the public walking behind David whilst filming.
