I love this recipe John! I have made these cookies at least 4 times so far. So delicious! However, I was having trouble with the rectangular prism method because everytime I would cut the prism it would smash the cookies and they looked ugly. So instead, I rolled the dough out into a sheet and cut the shapes out! I felt like the cookies were much more uniform and neat!
Did you chill it in the fridge before cutting? When I chilled mine it was super hard. Maybe put it in the freezer for a little while to solidify it?

Made them yesterday, couldn’t wait to so didn’t refrigerate, absolutely melt in the mouth crumbly gorgeous. First time l’ve used icing sugar in a shortbread recipe. Add a (small) sprinkle of edible (English) lavender, fresh or dried for a tea-time special. Yummy!
Omg! My Favorite!!!! I’m making these now :) The dough is in the fridge These are so delicious!! I baked mine for 13 min and an extra min would have been ok. I knew they needed more time because the top still looked wet at 10 min. At 13 min it looked dry, so I took them out. But an extra min would have been ok as they are very soft still and no color at the bottom. Thank You 👩🏻🍳

It is evident from your comments that I need to let them warm more to room temperature, an easy fix. I will also try to make them with Splenda replacing the sugar for my diabetic wife. I subsequently made another batch substituting the same volume of Splenda for the sugar. It turned out really good. If I had to choose between the sugar and the Splenda cookies I would choose the sugar, but my wife loves the Splenda variety and can eat them safely. Great recipe either way.

Just made them. To my surprise they taste like Chicago Public School Butter Cookies. Took me back to my childhood in the 80's.Thanks great memories a simpler time.
I made a few small changes and these turned out SO good, I replaced some of the confectioner's sugar with light brown sugar (about 1/4 cup) to give it a slight caramel flavour and replaced some of the flour with rice flour (about 1/4 cup too) to give it a little snap and crunch whilst still being soft

They are beyond delicious! I made them and lemon cookies (and batter for crinkle cookies! I had so much flower flying that even the kids next door were covered in dust!) These were my all time favorite! I put them in the freezer and they came out perfectly! Oh, the lemon cookies were great too but I didn't add enough space in between them so I had one giant cookie and if anyone had seen them they would have been scared to taste them! (I also overbaked them by ten minutes! Fortunately I stored them with the shortbread cookies and they ended up soft after all!
I had to ad a couple tsp of water to get that dough consistency, but it came out awesome in the end! I've never seen a shortbread dough with powdered sugar in the recipe, so I had to try this and it turned out great! I really want to try it with almond extract next time 😊

Tip: Put the dough in the freezer for a few minutes just enough for the dough to set together, to get a little firm so that it can be manageable to shape it, that's how I do it and always worked, good luck!🍪

Shortbread cookies are one of my favorite cookies along with my homemade Scones and Tea Cakes..yummy.

This recipe works every time, my oven only goes up to 250 so i added few more minutes to the original time and its perfect EVERY SINGLE TIME ❤

His voice is so soothing and intellectual, I’m laying in bed eating some Lorna Doone shortbread cookies as I type this message. But he makes it look so easy the cooking part I could definitely watch his videos to learn new ideas.

I made a half batch and they are Delicious. ❤️❤️❤️this shortbread recipe and it was Very Easy to make. I put the dough in the freezer for a half an hour. I am looking forward to viewing your video recipes and trying them.
