Man I am glad you made this video cause I rebuild manual transmission for a living and was learned from the best man ever he taught me everything about the business and how to rebuild any Trans except for the breaks on a z.f. units so I am glad to come up on your video now I know what I did wrong
Happy the video was helpful, lol the ZF park brake is a pain to rebuild lol but it beats trying buy a new one lol
Thanks for the information, I too had worked for no less than an hour heating and trying to nudge that drum off. No luck. This really helps.

Thank you so much!
Some of the drums and plates that the driveshaft attaches to are riveted together. Just for a side note.
Great info
Thanks for doing this video
No problem
To remove zf brake assy from truck, take all but 2 bottom screws to trans out and loosen 2 bottom screws about 1/2" and take small pry bar and place it between one screw head and crossmember and pry assy toward back of truck. This will break gasket seal. Remove both screws and wiggle it the rest of way. Its heavy! Be careful.
Great info
Thanks buddy
Happy to help
Thanks for the video. We have one similar on a 1999 Ford E450. The one we have also has a port for the Speedometer cable. I was able to find a whole new assembly at the Ford dealer but it was the only one they had and it turned out that it does not have the port for the Speedometer on the housing. Everything else matched up perfectly. Would you know anything on how to disconnect and reconnect the speedometer cable? Thanks again for posting.
Huge help brother 💪
Thanks for watching
Do you know the u joint that takes. I'm having a time finding one
I do not remember, I did have a hard time finding one, but I think it was for one of the bigger trucks, The parts store ordered me one of each and I matched one up that way
When you separate the unit from the transmission does oil come out of the trans? Or are they separate?
the transmission has a seal that keeps fluid in, the unit uses its own fluid
@@TattsForLife - the unit that uses it's own fluid - is it transmission fluid, because some leaked out when I removed it (as expected) but there is a fill plug, do I put tranny fluid in or something else - Thank you
Whittle Bwake Drom wace
Huh, me confused
How to get the new seals for it??
A company called allstate gear
Any tips on removing it cause mine seems to be ceased on
on the truck? or the drum?
@@TattsForLife it was ceased on the truck but I got it off with a bit of brute force (ie a 4 pound mallot) the splines had a little surface rust holding it in
Can I take the brake off and put the tail housing. Off the trany I tooo out ove the moterhome
im not sure
