@@ClassicHarleyQuinn I disagree. I found it very hopeful when the og melody comes in. And justice unlimited also had a cool guitar intro. I’m cool with it
Superman is one of the most misunderstood characters in modern day. When you have a character who is always the strongest, then it isn't a form of adversity to see them beat up villains that are weaker than they are. People want some adversity or struggle in a story. This is why some early Superman comics focused on Superman helping everyday people, because if Joe just lost his job and he's depressed, then Superman can't just punch away his depression. What's typically missing is that human element of Superman directly connecting to common people, and helping them with common problems. He's supposed to be someone who cares about everybody, no matter how small their issues may seem. Superman would help someone change a car tire. He helps "little people." It's because he is a common man at heart. James Gunn isn't going to make a movie with Superman in it.
Indeed. Such odd arguments but she has the freedom to express them. I just can't get the idea of this being ragebait out of my head after finishing the video though.
I have mixed feelings about the trailer. The cinematography is honestly very bland aside from a few shots. Guy Gardner looks a bit too uncanny in the face, Cool to see other heroes already established, though. Krypto, the super dog, is the wrong breed of dog, the music choice was good, and superman looks fine but ehhhhhhhh idk it really didn't get me excited but still gonna give it a chance I really want this to be good.
TLDW: she sees patterns in this trailer that are also on the trash heap that has been DC in the last decade and she's extremely done with all of that. understandable to be honest.
You’re allowed to not like things that others like. Ignore any insults that come your way. My thoughts are mixed but overall positive. I the cgi was awkward and I wish they had used a real dog for Krypto. I did like the scene where Superman saved a child and when he was kissing Lois. I’m hoping the completed project will be good. I’m sure it’ll be solid at least.
You need to STOP worrying about what people think of your Valid Opinions, and Stand by Them. You will NEVER please Everyone, No One Can; all you can do is be Yourself, at the End of the Day. So Cheer Up, and just be You! :)
A lot of your arguments are confusing and kinda in bad faith. You don't want to see anything that resembles the DC under the helm of Snyder visually? I mean, you realize how many different visual styles were present during his DCEU, right? Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Shazam and Snyders trademark aesthetics from his own films are all very different looking and distinct. We can argue about the quality of these films all day, but there's not arguing that they look different from each other. It's pretty much impossible to not evoke any similarities between these visual styles and a new Superman reboot. I also think your point about color grading is kinda funny cause you put a filter on your vid as a "demonstration" of how color grading alters the visual medium, but merely slapping a filter on a video isn't in any shape or form comparable to professional color grading in movie (filters in general aren't the same as color grading fyi). You also describe the look as "desaturated" but that is objectively wrong. It's not a desaturated look at all, and if you'd compare it to smth. like Wicked, you'd definitely notice the difference. The Superman trailer has way more contrast. Overall, everyone's obviously allowed to think about the trailer what they want, but I don't think the explanations you provided made that much sense tbh.
As far as it reminding you of James Gunn's other movies...aren't those "reminders" a bit superficial? An echoing, melodic Rock underscore is not unheard of for most movie trailers. I also wouldn't call it "punk", as it is too melodic. With Superman whistling for Krypto, well, that's how people call dogs. The context is totally different than in GOTG, where the whistle is used to control an arrow. Having that be the thing that makes you say, "It's Guardians all over again," feels like a stretch. By that logic, the opening theme of The Andy Griffith Show should also remind you of James Gunn. Had the trailer shown any evidence of crass humor or leaned into comedic beats over dramatic ones, I might understand your concern a bit better. As it is, though, your choice of - if you'll pardon me - dog whistles makes it feel like you're stretching to find any reason to maintain your skepticism. I'm not furious at you, nor do I have any negative feelings towards you, but I am unsure of your reasoning.
Yeah a lot of her criticisms aside from the cinematography, past dc films and costumes seem nit-picky, but she notoriously isn’t a huge fan of Gunn’s style anyways
We could’ve focused on Superman instead of just Superman and the other dc heroes and villains. Stick to one superhero. Build the characters arc, set of stories. That’s how the MCU became beloved by the early part of its lifetime.
You’re getting all that from just a teaser when Gunn has said multiple times that the focus is on Clark, Lois and Lex? It’s set in a world where superhero’s are established already we don’t really need to see Superman’s origin again
@@Bdill0909and we don't need other heroes especially D-Listers that make the Justice League International look like the A-Team infesting a movie that claims to focus on Superman.

As someone who loves Superman and has been optimistic about the movie so far, this trailer really burned me. Between the color grading, Krypto being included, and the number of heroes and villains in the trailer -- I'm not feeling very optimistic anymore. Im glad someone else is feeling that way as well because I just have a sick feeling in my stomach about the whole thing.
Okay okay honestly, what do you like? I dont mean this as an aggressive "do even like stuff?" tupe of thing. I just realized you dont teally talk about things you really like indepth. Do you have thing you really like? Renaissance Disney, classic Disney? 90s-2000s Cartoon Network? Older Ryan Gosling movies? Earlier Anne Hathaway stuff? What did you love watching or reading when you grew up, what molded your taste in tv and movies?
Yeaa I mean I guess I understand that negative content is always pushed and gets more views but it just feels like everything from this creator is just negative and downer besides some things
@BeyondKieran Yeah, I subscribed because of her "What Happened to Romance in Movie?" video were she talked about the film of two soldiers who go to war as enemies over a girl, become friends, then one dies. It was such a great analysis. But she doesn't talk about things are interesting to her at all almost. I like her well enough though, it's why I'm still subscribed.
I dont think its a bad trailer, i just dont think its a great trailer. Part of me feels like some of it is reminiscent of CW stuff amd i feel they got some things down but failed on others. Still not a fan of the color grading.
Just because you didn’t like the trailer doesn’t mean you won’t like the movie. I didn’t like the guitar over the trailer, I was hoping for more of the motion poster music.
@roadrunnermjp Weird I remember hating the man of steel trailer but loving the movie lol Hopefully when this comes out it proves me wrong because I'm starved for good DC content!
I don’t think you know what a needle drop is. The electric guitar riff of the John Williams theme is not part of a soundtrack, it’s part of the score. You said you wanted something different, but then you complain about the changes to the music.
That + a filter isn't the same as actual color grading (for some reason she tries to make a "comparison" between the 2 when she puts the filter on her vid to demonstrate her point). Lastly, she also mentioned that the film has a desaturated look similar to Snyder's films, but that's simply nonsense. There's contrast in the new footage, it's more so the lighting that evokes a similar association to what Snyder did. But that doesn't mean the colors were actually desaturated in post. Idk, quite a few mistakes/uses of wrong terminologyin the video sadly.
Personally I loved the trailer and I don't agree with you, but I'll give a like so you'll feel better. Sorry for whatever attacks you'll get from Gunn Cult members.
Prediction: This movie will be recieved good critically, but this lady will make a video about how its actually bad because she doesnt like James gun movies.
i like the exploration of the themes of superman being a symbol of hope, and i like cute dogs. the cgi actually looked good (imo) and i hope it keeps up for the actual movie. but i also respect your opinion.
Guy Gardner look so... So... So bad. Like, wow, it's one of the worst cast (Also I think, Gunn really hate Green Lanterns. Only John Stewart have good cast).
Everyone wanted Fillion for Hal Jordan (and he in fact voiced him in animation), so Gunn might be doing something 'meta' with this take on Guy Gardner. He's got the comic book hair, but it's way more ridiculous-looking... Green Lantern might be to this film what Channing Tatum was to Gambit...
Oh come on! You're being a little to negative. To be honest your biggest concerns are a bit shallow. Purely based on a few colors. Look at what's actually happening on screen! Him saving people, smiling, kissing Lois, behind a hero. Watching that trailer I got chills and a huge dumb grin on my face! I even showed that trailer to my mom, who doesn't like cape films, especially from DC. Her reaction after being VERY sceptical: oh... This is gonna be AMAZING!

Honestly, Gunn can only do one type of film. He's got one cliche, makes a movie around a soundtrack, bright colors, same campy sort of story with a very dark undertone to make it "grounded". And Krypto is the new Rocket/Groot. He's also creating a "team" of sorts. This is a DC version of Guardians pushed as Superman which is never going to work. You should get absolutely NO hate for your takes, all valid and most I absolutely agree with. Gunn had one success but he's a one trick pony.
Nothing in this trailer showed that there will be a soundtrack. It'll be more score filmed. Bright colors? In a superman movie? WOW!!!! Nothing about the trailer was campy. It is a comic story embracing itself. No, Krypto is Krypto as he's always been. This movie is NOTHING like Guardians. You have NO idea what you're talking about. How can you watch the teaser and get Guardians out of it.

It doesn't matter who WB hires to direct, if the studio doesn't keep their fingers out of it, it's gonna be trash. They try to stuff too much into one movie instead of expanding the universe.
Jester, I think you are in a funk. I started the trailer expecting to hate it. Loved Krypto. Loved the romance. The music which bothered me at first won me over by the end. Your requirements as you lay them out are awfully subjectve. I didn't have the same requirements, and what i did have, were satisfied. I didn't really like Rachels look, but I have a feeling that she and James Gunn are gonna win me over. With the exception of GoftheG II, I think the guy has written bangers. Having said all this, I agree competely with your 99% of your previous videos. I think your sensibilities are right on. But not this time.
Seems kinda nitpicky tbh, I'm not a side picker just a comic reader i see a comic adaptation i like I'll invest in it. You and everyone else being critical of Gunn keep bringing up "i don't want anything like Guardians" Takes a bit more than just a fun vibe and a bit of Rock music to achieve that, I'm sorry this speaks as hypercritical cynicism one of the big problems with unsuccessful Superhero projects is yes, they don't lean into the campy feel of it they're afraid of the identity of the source material and want to modernize it, what kind of vibe would satisfy you? Honestly I'm not attacking or upset if that's how you take my comment fine, I'm more confused if anything how you got to this opinion?
Why wouldn't you want things that remind you of James Gunn? He's the director the point of a director is for them to make something in their style. That's why the mcu fails because every movie looks the same. Would u want a scorcese film that doesn't remind you of scorcese?
I want the definitive DC cinematic universe. Not Gunn's take or Snyder's. So far with Creature Commandos and now this trailer. It all looks like Gunn's take. The MCU, at least at the beginning phases all felt different.
@DavidMartinez-ce3lp That's because Gunn was in charge of both Creature Commandos and Superman. Creature Commandos and Superman both look and feel very different from each other toom

its insane how people cant handle opinions different then their own i like phantom menace and i like mr plinketts review of the phantom menace wich rips it to shreds i dont need anyones approval for liking or dislikng something but the average person seems to need to be constantly validated on every little opinion as if any of it matters i think it just goes to show they dont actually have the foundation for creating their own opinion and instead choose to take whichever one makes them feel good
Total agreement, kind of said similar things before on this channel and other channels. I found a couple of videos from other creators and even though I disagreed with what they said I LOVED having a fresh and original take on something. When people can articulate why they like or dislike something then it makes you think critically about what and why you feel the way you do.
I don't think I've ever encountered a good director who didn't have a signature stye. Kubrick, Tarantino, Ford, Kurosawa, etc. Most fans of their films can tell, without benefit of being told they directed them, whose work they're watching, and students of their works certainly can. On the whole, I don't hear people dumping on their films on the strength of being able to identify them by style. I'm not sure why Gunn qualifies for disdain for having a recognizable signature, while the above named generally don't. It's one thing not to like an artist's style. It's a lesser thing entirely to dislike them for having one.
Pretty much almost every director has their own style. That’s a ridicules complaint. I’m not expecting a GOTG type of movie (it doesn’t sound like one and really I don’t want one) but it’s gonna obviously have his own style.
It was terrible as a trailer and doesn't bode well for the movie either. I got a bad feeling about this. Sad. DC WB don't even know their own IP. Gunn has to put 'his' mark on it, hence the 'off' feel. Not hopeful.
I don't really understand your complaints about parts if the trailer reminding you of james gunn because most of it is pretty sirface level stuff not not specific to him for example superman whistling for his dog since literally almost everyone whistles for them. Also even if if does feel like james gunn, why is thst a bad thing? He cleary understands what superman represents and ehat he stands for. Loke these complaints feel nitpicky to me idk
If he understands Supes then why add D-List characters nobody cares about in a movie that's supposed to be about Superman. If Gunn wants his D-List Justice League make Justice League International movie
@@Drums_of_Liberationhe added them to show how this world is already filled with super heroes. It's also to convey how a lot of these other heroes either are darker and edgy (the authority), or just follow orders from the government and CEOs (JL international). By doing this it conveys how different superman is from the, and why being heroic and optimistic is important especially nowadays. Superman has always been an inspiration not just to everyday people, but to other heroes, and this film is gonna show him doing that
Not only does it look nothing like the CW, but the CW has the two best adaptations of Superman ever made in live action so I don’t know why you guys try to use that as a dish when they’ve gotten him right twice in a row
I’ve heard this opinion from a few people, so I guess I’m not surprised that some didn’t but I cant actually agree with why myself. Not going to make a massive deal out of it, I think it’s silly to get nasty over peoples different opinions isn’t it.
Truthfully, I felt nothing towards the trailer. The Henry Cavill wound is still fresh & so far nothing from this new universe has caught my eye enough to make me invested
“The trailer had scenes which reminded me of bad movies that had scenes in it, therefore the trailer is bad” that’s it that’s the whole review of the trailer guys
I'm going to respectfully disagree with you here this trailer did just enough to show me a hopeful superman which has been sorely missing in recent adaptations and I'm getting really tired of the "CW suits" comment because even in the earlier seasons it was impressive what the CW was able to do on a tv budget but no one ever brings up the suits the heroes in those shows got later on which are freaking awesome! Green Arrow getting a nice streamlined suit, The Flash getting a comic accurate suit with the gold boots, the suits on Superman & Lois etc. it's like give the CW credit where it's due
Some other commenter put it perfectly on your community post: it’s a war of mediocrity. Between Snyder’s trash universe and yet again another one of Gunn’s guaranteed goofy outcast-team up-commedy type film, at least MoS trailer looked somewhat interesting and had a great score that’s not a cheap nostalgia bait cover of a better soudtrack from more than 30 years ago.
God, at least wait for it to come out and watch the bloody film before going on a rant about how mediocre it is. What is it with the internet these days and everyone thinking their opinions are gospel on something they've NOT WATCHED?
@@ihatezacksnyder You can come back with sarcasm all you want, says more about you than me, but does my point not still stand? @@LexVanguard2004 Your point really doesn't stand since trailers are there to give you a glimpse of the movie and of the directors vision as such if you think a trailer looks bad then it more then likely means you wont like the end product. For instance DA: the Veilguard's , Concord, Disney's Wish movie all had trailer's that showed what trash the end product would be. This looks like another typical James Gunn GotG type movie and many DC fans feel Superman deserves better then that.
@@LexVanguard2004 no, Lex, it doesn’t and if you don’t mind reading a little bit I can explain why. First because you adressed me as if I was speaking about the film when I was talking specifically about what the trailer presented me with. I can see you thinking I was talking about the filme when I said it’s a guaranteed goofy outcast team up film because that’s all the “James Gunnisms” we can see in this trailer. Second because my comment doesn’t read at all like someone who thinks their opinion is gospel. Even right now I’m not trying to convince you or anyone that the film is bad, I don’t know if it is bad or good , I’m just underwhelmed by what the promotional material has been showing me so far. And lastly, because even if I was expressing the most negative criticism towards this movie I haven’t seen, nothing gives you the right to come at a complete rando on the internet so aggressively because you disagree with what they said, and, using the logic on your first reply, both the people who thinks the movie will suck AND the ones who think it will be good should shut up and never speak again until they see the film, which is never gonna happen. People will give their opinions on everything whether you agree or not. If you can’t understand that a complete rando who posted a comment didn’t do it with the intention of hurting your feelings and that you can’t control when or how others express themselves online then I don’t know what to say really, but that’s not mine or anyone else’s problem but yours. I don't know why people keep saying it's Punk Rock. There's nothing Punk Rock about it.
I was kinda hoping you'd talk about how dangerously close Clark is getting to a zoomer perm
That is not a perm. The actor has naturally curly hair.

Actually i like Gardner he is kind of a fool and an asshole so i don't have an issue with him looking like that
TLDW: she sees patterns in this trailer that are also on the trash heap that has been DC in the last decade and she's extremely done with all of that.
understandable to be honest.
This trailer sold me with the, "Krypto, take me home.", line.
Really? I thought it was cringe. I might check it out but it looks like a pass from the trailer.

I thought it looked okay. Krypto was cute af❤
I don't hate you. I'm an adult. I just desagree with you.
Hard disagree with you. I'll keep it at that.
I saw too many superheroes in the trailer and thought: "Oh no, it's gonna be bloated and poorly paced with a lack of focus."
By your logic Tom Holland's Spider-Man screwed up by not showing Peter Parker's origin again in Homecoming.

I don’t think you know what a needle drop is. The electric guitar riff of the John Williams theme is not part of a soundtrack, it’s part of the score. You said you wanted something different, but then you complain about the changes to the music.
100%
When she said needle drop I was like...did we watch the same trailer? I didn't hear anything but orchestral music.
I used the wrong terms in my video, but rock music over a Gunn trailer is nothing new
That + a filter isn't the same as actual color grading (for some reason she tries to make a "comparison" between the 2 when she puts the filter on her vid to demonstrate her point).
An honest review is a REAL review. It's neither negative nor positive.

You might like the movie. I've hated trailers and loved movies. I wouldn't worry about it.
Personally, I think this is the movie Superman deserves.
Trailer is garbage, Gunn is a moron, movie is gonna suck. DCU is gonna tank.
It’s okay. Everyone has their own opinions. Nothing wrong with that
I think we should all know by now that you can’t judge a film by its trailer. At all.
But it was fantastic
So what's the point of trailers then?
I hate the costumes idk who decided to make them all look like they came from the same place
I do NOT trust James Gunn to do Superman properly. Gunn does quirky asshole characters perfectly because he IS a quirky asshole.
Superman is the epitome of positive masculinity. The patriotic boy scout. Gunn can't do that.
"Gunn can't do that." How do you know this?
None of us know that!
We have to wait and see with this movie and if it fails THEN we will know.
I dont think he attempted such a char yet!
Is James Gunn the most overrated filmmaker working today?
Yes he is
oh brother…
I agree 100%, Superman is still Henry Cavill to me
I mean you're allowed to be wrong. Happens to us all eventually
even you.
Ok you can dial down the snark.
