    Photographer here (Sony A7R4) that has never used a Mac. But i ordered a Max Studio because im tired of slow PCs (not many PCs can handle in LR 61Mpix RAWs). @Art: I highly appreciate the effort you put in your videos and you totally speaking my language. I need the videos like this one to get used to Apples quirks…
    I also love how photo-oriented everything is. Great recommendations, very helpful and very professional presentation. Your channel is definitely underrated.

    Helpful video. Glad I came upon it since I am getting a Mac Studio tomorrow and did not think about this start up issue. Fortunately I have been using a Logitec keyboard and mouse connected with a dongle on my MacBook for a few years and thanks to you I now know I can just plug that in to get started and set up the new Mac Studio. You saved me a lot of frustration and confusion.

    In my first attempt I had inserted the universal dongle into my Mac min first, then turned on the mouse. Removing the dongle and then reinserting, it paired automatically. Thanks for this. Very helpful!

    I was able to use the Unified dongle into the USB A on my Studio for my MX Master 3 mouse and it worked, mine was previous paired as yours was. Watching other videos it seemed like I was the exception. Very nice to see I wasn't the only person this worked for!

      Previously paired Unifiing dongle will work just fine. If it is not pre paired then that is where the issue comes in.

    Thanks Art! This was a total lifesaver! I received my new Mac Studio and it just wouldn’t recognise my Logitech MX Keys and MX Master 3 mouse during setup even though they were the mac versions.
    Apple support couldn’t help as well. Checked out your video and the unifying receiver tip worked like a charm!
    Thanks to you I was able to get past setup into migration assistant and I’m now happily using my Logitech Bluetooth accessories 😊

    • @ArtIsRight

      Thanks for the feed back. Just something of note, Logitech devices Mac version or not will work on Mac, it is just the pairing during the setup. Apple support tier 1, sad to say are not the smartest people they just read from the script. If you can always try to escalate to tier 2, more experience, smarter people. First hand experience, I worked with them a lot with my clients. And also apple support can only do so much, you are not using Apple Keyboard and mouse after all. But I'm glad you got it working.

    I've used Logitech keyboard and mouse for about five years now with my older iMac in concert with the Logitech RF USB dongle, and find it indispensable. I just wish that Apple would open up its standards so that aftermarket peripherals suppliers like Logitech could provide keyboards with Apple's fingerprint login technology baked-in. Thanks for sharing.

      Wouldn't that be nice. Would love to have Touch ID on Logitech, chances are that will probably never happen because of the propriety chip, secure enclave, and also encrypted communication between the wireless device and computer. But one can hope and I am with you!

      @@ArtIsRight About as realistic as Apple selling Apple Silicon to 3rd parties.
      I mean, why would Apple open up their ecosystem so others benefit from their hard work?!?
      By the same token, you would come up with an ingenious product only to have cheap Chinese knock off make them for 1/10 the price? Suddenly that prospect isn't so rosy.
      LG Ultrafine has been in the market for over 5years now, yet they still got cheap plastic feel to them, RF problems, quality control problems, etc ...
      There's no way Apple would let cheap knockoffs ruin their walled gardren.

    Thanks a lot for this video. I've seen couple of vlogs/videos where new owners of MacStudios said they are returning their new computers because they cannot tolerate Apple forcing them to buy Apple Keyboard & Mouse/Trackpad. Which sounds a bit ridiculous, doesn't it? But on the other hand - Apple support claimed that MacStudio "works only with certified external devices" which is completely incorrect. Also - Apple should have added a procedure to pair 3rd party BT mouse & keyboard - there really is no reason to omit this. Stay safe!

    • @ArtIsRight
      @ArtIsRight  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes they could have made it easier. This could also be an MX limitations as well. I don't have other BT mouse and KB to test with. Some said they are successful. So you might be able to get it done. I helped many of my friend and clients setup so many of these machines already, it is all good!

A year from this video on has anyone found out if the new dongle supplied with keyboard will work out of the box, if not old wired mouse and keyboard to be borrowed for set up 😮

    • @ArtIsRight
      @ArtIsRight  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice and timely video for those of us with third party BT mouse and keyboard. Just want to be sure I understand something you mentioned. The dongle that comes with the Logitech MX Master 3 does not work for pairing to Mac Studio? Need to use another universal dongle that has already been used for pairing to another Apple device? Thank you again.

    • @ArtIsRight
      @ArtIsRight  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Dongle should work but to clarify. If it had been paired already using another machine it should work. If it is just new out of the box, I am not sure will it work or not since it is not user paired. It could have been paired from the factory, I am not sure about this part. I don't have a brand new MX to test. The other dongle that has already been paired can be done on a Mac or PC, it should not matter as long as your are using the same channel.

      Aluminum top and plastic keys and the area around the keys. I like it. I originally got it to use the dial wheel with LRC but to use all of those control you have to be in Dev module, I usually spend most of my time editing my client work in Library Quick Develop so the dial is a moot point for me. But I have other uses for the dial, volume control, switching tabs and closing tabs in browsers.

    Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Its seems so simple.
    I upgrded my iMac to the Mac Studio, and I used both the MX Mac mouse and MX keyboard. I feel lost without the MX keyboard, its that good. --- I got the bolt unit, plugged it into the studio. The problem is, the MX Keyboard wont pair. I hold #1 button down for 3 seconds and I never get a flashing light, I tried 100 times. The MX Mouse works on BT just fine. But I cannot pair the MX KB because of what seems a silly issue, pairing. I got the Bolt because the MX KB never shows up in BT on the MAc Studio.
    I would be beyond appreciative for any help about the blinking light after holding it for 3 seconds, for me, it goes black, no light. I used the MX KB on my iMAc for one year using BT, and it was fine.
    Amy comment would mean a lot, Thank you.

    • @ArtIsRight
      @ArtIsRight  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You might need to do some searching. Bolt will only Bolt intended devices. So for instance, your MX KB and Mouse might be designed to work with Unifying Dongle. I would check the compatibility, I think that is the issue you are running into.

      @@ArtIsRight Thank you very much for your reply. The bolt is compatible with the MX KB & the Mac Studio. In your video you mentioned connection on an iMac first, then move it over to the Studio.
      I moved the Bolt and MX KB to my iMac trying to program the Bolt. However, there was no pairing, the light on the MX Position #1 went dead after holding 3 seconds. This leads me to believe the MX KB is bad.

      I should be able to pair the MX KB using using the #2 of #3 choices. But #2 & #3 device options on MX KB are also dead or no blinking for pair mode. I cant seem to change device setting on the MX KB for the iMac to pair & program the Bolt.
      My next option seems to be buying a new MX KB for Mac, and hoping it will work.
      Any comment would be greatly appreciated. I have subscribed to your channel, its great. Thank you, Fred

      "The bolt is compatible with the MX KB & the Mac Studio. In your video you mentioned connection on an iMac first, then move it over to the Studio." it is the context here is macOS setup which does not give you a bluetooth or 3rd party controller dialog, that is why the recommendation is as such. From what you described, and I can't know this for sure but you can look on the device, there will be symbols on it next to the bluetooth symbol, you can see clearly if it is bolt or unifying. They use different frequency and different communication tech, Bolt will not work with Unifying and same the other way around as well.

    Just lived through this on Wed. Had to run and by the Magic Keyboard and mouse to setup. Wired KB wouldn't get me past the Apple ID Screen. So I still have a PC for my Work laptop and I'm wondering how can I return to only using one keyboard/mouse for My Studio and my work laptop? Is there no way that the Magic Keyboard/Mouse will work for all?

    _ Recently, from the Logitech support pages, older versions of Logitech Options, which allowed the use of mice and keyboards on older operating systems, were deleted. This program allows you to use the full potential of these devices by setting additional buttons, rollers, and gestures to suit your needs.
    _ Eg for macOS from Apple, Logitech Options cannot be downloaded for older systems below macOS v 10.14. In the case of Windows, the situation is better, the support for W7 has been canceled.
    _ What can users of older Apple computers do? Lots of people have bought expensive Logitech mice and keyboards and use them with old computers. Many of them are professionals, who therefore use old computers and old systems - because they have very expensive programs installed there that serve them for up to 10 years. They appreciated Logitech equipment for its durability, reliability and the ability to adapt to their work style. The problem is, you can't set up these Logitech devices without dedicated proprietary software.
    _ Logitech, which creates itself as a world leader - does not care about its customers.

    • @ArtIsRight
      @ArtIsRight  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great question, I would contact Logitech and see if they can offer you some internal download link to the old version of their software. I understand there's a need to user older version of the OS sometimes, however, at some point an OS update must be done. I am not comment on behalf of Logitech but logically thinking at some point companies have to halt supporting older OS because it can be costly and represent a dwindling user population. It will never be as small as 2 digits or 0 but none the less it is a smaller segment of users and there comes a tipping point where it does not make sense to maintained development. But in your case, they can just provide you with a link so I would contact them.

    • @MarekErRr
      @MarekErRr 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ArtIsRight Thank you for your reply. I do not want Logitech to give me any additional support for older MacOS system. I only want those Apps versions to download (to operate older computers). Keepieng a few small Apps on servers is not so costly. E.g. I need Logitech Options 6.30 - and this is only 17 MB.

    • @ArtIsRight
      @ArtIsRight  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know and I don't know why they took the download link away, this is where you would have to reach out to Logitech for help. Not to maintain the app to access their download link to the archives.
