I was 99% positive there was supposed to be a red dot. I still want to count that as a point because what they showed *technically* wasn’t Relicanth. One of my absolute FAVORITE things about Sharpedo (and unfortunately it's something that was restricted to a single pair of games) is that if you use it for Surfing in ORAS, it'll show you actually riding your Sharpedo (including whether it's shiny or not), and actually makes you surf a bit faster

Sharpedo is an AWESOME Pokémon. Here’s why. 1. Sharks need to move to breathe, sort of, and torpedoes also need to move 2. Sharks are portrayed as objects of destruction, so are torpedoes 3. His mega has like INFINITE TEETH. That’s awesome! It’s because when sharks lose teeth, they have teeth behind their teeth that move into place almost right after. 4. Sharpedo is the Brutal Pokémon, which sounds menacing and cool 5. Sharks are awesome animals 6. At least seven Pokédex entries call it, “The bully of the sea”. Name one other Pokémon that has a menacing nickname. I bet you could but it wouldn’t have the popularity of Sharpedo’s nickname 7. He goes 75 mph. That’s fast which obviously translates to cool 8. When it mega evolves, it can go 125 mph. As stated previously, this means it’s even cooler 9. It defies natural evolution because it’s a piranha that becomes a shark torpedo. I bet you can’t do that. 10. I just really like it I hope this has persuaded you into liking Sharpedo, even just a little bit.

Also, the red hexagon on Relicanth is like, X marks the spot! Its markings suggest a treasure map, and that's where the treasure is hidden! Pretty sure it's specifically pointing to the cave where the Regis are since you need Relicanth as part of the whole puzzle to unlock them. Its regular colouration is old and dusty and its shiny form gives the ocean colour. It's such a cool design that I only recently began to truly appreciate.

it just doesn't look complete. it's based off of a torpedo, why is it so blocky and chunky? Veluza and Barraskewda/Arrokuda pull off the torpedo thing WAY better

I’m actually really happy for tos, I’ve been rooting for him ever since I watched the first shiny Pokémon quiz (mainly cuz I don’t really shiny hunt so I don’t know like any of the answers except for the easy questions 😅) so it makes me very happy to see him win, congrats tos!
I'm pretty sure the reason relicanth has the red spot is because it was based on the 'living fossil' fish called the celucanth which was thought to be extinct. It was found off of the coast of Japan which is why they put the red spot as a reference to the place it was found
while i also believe the red dot is meant to be a location marker, as the other markings on relicanth do look a bit like land formations, it wouldnt stand for japan. coelacanth arent found anywhere near japan- theyre found in the waters along the eastern side of africa, mostly around madigascar, and theres a second extant species found in a relatively small area of indonesia. but ultimately coelacanth are not found nor live anywhere near japan. my best guess is that the red mark is just a general mark that is small compared to the other markings to indicate that the habitats for coelacanth are pretty small.
The overall blue shiny coloration is also most likely a reference to the coelacanths it’s based on, as while they’re usually brown there were some cases where they were found with a more vibrant blue coloration.
I was so proud of myself for noticing the missing relicanth spot. I’m so annoyed though. I got everything up until #13 when I thought Kecleon was wrong. I even got the bonus right! Heckin Kecleon. Funnily enough, I was also stuck between Salamence and Lunatone in that one question. I have Solroc's shiny in my head, because (just like solgaleo) it's based off a red giant and this fact has refused to leave my brain the whole week. I was second guessing myself with Salamence cause you said 'be careful'

The saturation is exactly what clued me in when it came to #6, plus the one before that, and my thought process was exactly what you described when you explained your intent. Leaving a deliberate "tell" like that for a medium-difficulty question is great planning. This is also the first one I've watched so far where I managed to get all of them right! Even though my reasoning on the last one was definitely way off. I was split on question 7, but funnily enough at the last second I remembered that I've drawn fanart of shiny Electrike before, so I knew for sure what that looked like, haha.

Interesting. It was the opposite for me, I though Lunatone was more likely to be real than Solrock. I didn’t fully rule out Salamance though, I thought the wings might have been a little less saturated

Actually funnily enough Whismur was my first ever full odds shiny, when I was grinding for victory road, but I was so distracted by the grind I killed it, then I panicked and reset like an idiot, and I lost all my progress and was so mad I guess I blocked out the memory of shiny Whismur. 6 v I actually knew all the other shinies, which I how I knew Lunatone was the fake. Solrock being the same but more saturated stuck with me for some reason, Metagross is awesome, and I personally dislike green Salamence so I didn't forget it. 7 x I was so confident it was dusclops just because of how saturated it is that I googled it and disqualified myself. I immediately realized the right answer after but I'm no cheater. 8 v I only remembered Carvanha looks like a total clown, but I also was semi confident he did not match his evo. But this was a hard one. 9 v I was confident, but I wasn't very confident. Something felt off, I couldn't say what. The difficulty really spiked. 10 x I knew Vibrava didn't match it's line but Spoink looked so wrong to me. I should have remembered, I love Flygon and gen 3. But I never caught a shiny back then. 11 x THAT'S NOT EVEN A SHINY THING. He did feel a little naked for some reason. The red dot is because he looks like a map. 12 v I picked Taillow for the exact same reason they did. The change in the claws drew more attention to the green feet. 13 v YES YES YES! This one IMMEDIATELY jumped out to me as ugly. No artist would ever choose the such similar colors for the body and eyes. The brown looks way better. BONUS YEEEEEEEEEES I don't know why I'm so proud. as someone who watched 40 cakes 24/7 livestream where the bot got like 50 poocheyeans in POKEMON EMERALD WHERE THE SPRITES ARE 2D AND THE FRICKING EYE IS BLUE I THOUGHT I HAD THIS BUT FOR SOME REASON POKEMON CHANGED IT TO RED THIS GAME IS SO UGHUH.
I ended up with six wrong which is pretty good for someone who doesn't actively shiny hunt. Funnily enough, the Gardevoir and Ralts really are purple in the gamecube games so I think it would be fun to do a shiny quiz on those specifically since most of the shinies are flat out different to their cartridge counterparts.

I’m actually really happy for tos, I’ve been rooting for him ever since I watched the first shiny Pokémon quiz (mainly cuz I don’t really shiny hunt so I don’t know like any of the answers except for the easy questions 😅) so it makes me very happy to see him win, congrats tos!

I'm pretty sure the reason relicanth has the red spot is because it was based on the 'living fossil' fish called the celucanth which was thought to be extinct. It was found off of the coast of Japan which is why they put the red spot as a reference to the place it was found
while i also believe the red dot is meant to be a location marker, as the other markings on relicanth do look a bit like land formations, it wouldnt stand for japan. coelacanth arent found anywhere near japan- theyre found in the waters along the eastern side of africa, mostly around madigascar, and theres a second extant species found in a relatively small area of indonesia. but ultimately coelacanth are not found nor live anywhere near japan. my best guess is that the red mark is just a general mark that is small compared to the other markings to indicate that the habitats for coelacanth are pretty small.

The overall blue shiny coloration is also most likely a reference to the coelacanths it’s based on, as while they’re usually brown there were some cases where they were found with a more vibrant blue coloration.

YO WHAT? SINCE WHEN WAS A BRONZE??? jeez thats so weird, still yes tho ig

Funnily enough, I was also stuck between Salamence and Lunatone in that one question. I have Solroc's shiny in my head, because (just like solgaleo) it's based off a red giant and this fact has refused to leave my brain the whole week. I was second guessing myself with Salamence cause you said 'be careful'

That fake shiny kyogre looks incredible. It needs to be real. I like the pink of the true shiny but that black is amazing, and it adds to the orca aesthetic.
It's so funny that I got the question about Relicanth right for the right reason. He's a Pokemon that I would never have noticed if it weren't for that super random red spot on his body. I'm always left wondering what the hell is supposed to be.
I remembered there being a red part on Relicanth that wouldn’t just disappear on the shiny, but I didn’t remember it being a little hexagon. I thought a part of one of his fins was red.

Oh man, some of your edits are honestly really clever. The saturation is exactly what clued me in when it came to #6, plus the one before that, and my thought process was exactly what you described when you explained your intent. Leaving a deliberate "tell" like that for a medium-difficulty question is great planning.
This is also the first one I've watched so far where I managed to get all of them right! Even though my reasoning on the last one was definitely way off. I was split on question 7, but funnily enough at the last second I remembered that I've drawn fanart of shiny Electrike before, so I knew for sure what that looked like, haha.
As a sharpedo enthusiast, it’s is one of the coolest water types, with the mechanic in the isle of armor, while annoying, was kinda cool

13:46 I am 100% on board with Tos and Mimik, I was also very confused between Salamence and Lunatone. Metagross' shiny is iconic and Solrock is one of those that you see once and never forget about it, so it could only be those other two options.
Interesting. It was the opposite for me, I though Lunatone was more likely to be real than Solrock. I didn’t fully rule out Salamance though, I thought the wings might have been a little less saturated

I really felt like I'd remember if shiny Whismur were that ugly but turn out, no. Actually funnily enough Whismur was my first ever full odds shiny, when I was grinding for victory road, but I was so distracted by the grind I killed it, then I panicked and reset like an idiot, and I lost all my progress and was so mad I guess I blocked out the memory of shiny Whismur.

as someone who watched 40 cakes 24/7 livestream where the bot got like 50 poocheyeans in POKEMON EMERALD WHERE THE SPRITES ARE 2D AND THE FRICKING EYE IS BLUE I THOUGHT I HAD THIS BUT FOR SOME REASON POKEMON CHANGED IT TO RED THIS GAME IS SO UGHUH.
I ended up with six wrong which is pretty good for someone who doesn't actively shiny hunt. Funnily enough, the Gardevoir and Ralts really are purple in the gamecube games so I think it would be fun to do a shiny quiz on those specifically since most of the shinies are flat out different to their cartridge counterparts.
This series makes me want to shiny hunt more so i get better!

How the heck did I get 5 points having literally never played any Pokémon games other than Blue? (And also somehow I knew the Castform one because I remember seeing a Pokémon fact videos just randomly browsing TH-cam a while back and one of the facts was that Castform’s weather forms don’t have shinies outside of Pokémon Home and they showed the shinies on screen and I remembered what they looked like)

Couple months late to this but Sharpedo is a cool super fast chompy shark and who doesn’t love sharks?? Also in ORAS if you use one as your surfer you can surf at double speed, which is super awesome
