Additionally, if your unit is working fine, you do not need a firmware update.
If you do not feel comfortable updating your device, the USE setting on the EG4 6500EX will work for the majority of applications.

In this video, we will show you how to update the EG4 6500EX-48 firmware. This firmware update will fix some errors that sometimes occur with this Inverter.
I got my inverter less then a month ago. Why would you send a product that immediately needs a update and doesn’t have what you need. I live fully off grid, this is total BS. I should have just bought a solark or something from a more reputable company. It makes me wonder if I will continually have issues rather then it just working as it should. For anybody considering this product, consider something else. Maybe pick something more mechanical in nature. For full off grid use this might be a poor choice.
Same issue with my Rich Solar inverters that I got with my OGK-PRO off grid kit from shopsolarkits, I'm hoping they all use the same controller & software for the 6500's because Rich solar doesn't offer firmware updates. @@deadeyecustoms1500 I’ve done multiple firmware updates. It’s honestly gotten worse. I absolutely hate this inverter. It’s bad enough it’s even ruining and short cycling the motor on a 10yr old deep freezer. It’s just a basic motor and should last for 20yrs. Never did it ever give me issues until I switched.
FYI, I did this over the weekend, it was seamless and very easy - I got the cable from amazon a week ago or so, it only took a couple of days to get it via prime.
Just make sure there is NO AC load on any of the inverters before you start (the inverters turn off during the upgrade).
Also, if you are using a laptop to flash firmware, ideally, the laptop should be plugged in to AC or have 100% battery. You don't want it to shut down in the middle of a flash.
Finally, I have a pair of 65K in Split Phase, the order of operations is do to unit1 first (master - 2p1), then unit 2 (SL - 2p2).
It did repair my occasional beeping and error code 61.
Which chipset was in the serial to USB cable?
@@strmthis There is no chipset - it is just a "cable". All physical wires.
You should do a firmware update on the 6000ex which is doing the same thing
it’s hard to believe you’d sell a product that is capable of being updated and not include all the cables to perform said update.

Well done. Most will just expect you to know how to do all that. I bought a pair and it works perfectly. I don't have the error because I don't use battery comms. use the KISS principal folks and build your own battery.
Hey I’m trying this out but where it says serial, it doesn’t give me the option for com5 or nothing else. Simply “blank” options. can someone help? Thanks
i updated the 6500ex march 10th 2023 and NOW i am getting FAULT code 71 and error code 61. i am only using 1 6500ex inverter. There were no errors while performing update. after update i put inverter in EG4 for bms comms. battery pin switches are correct and cables are correct setup.
Tried the update. Started process, Inverter shut down as shown in video but update stopped. Tried again, same exact results. Now display on inverter will not show anything. Looking at my second inverter, it shows 61 after pressing up arrow twice. Flash was probably not needed but following directions of signature solar. Looking for answer to get inverter back on line

What does the newer firmware 61.06 has in it, does it fix the wifi delay communication with the App?
Everything else seams to work perfectly.
There’s a 4 minutes delay from inverter activity to the App information being displayed.
Help! I am unable to get anything to populate in the serial box. Where it says (COM5 in the video) mine is blank. Can anyone please help me? Tried on 2 different windows laptops.
Iam having this same issue. the only time i can get my com to pop up is if my blue tooth is on and only com 3 and 4. tried on windows 10 and an old windows 7
you have to download and install the driver for the ut-8811. i was having the same issue but after I installed it everything worked fine with the blue cable from signature solar.
Your website no longer has the firmware updates for the 6500 EX, is there something wrong with these inverters? Where can I get the firmware update?

The 6500EX has been sunset but we still support this product through firmware improvements and technical support. It is listed under the Legacy Products on our website!

To me it's utterly stupid that you only provide half ther cable needed to update this crap and use serial to boot. Get with the times, serial's dead. code 61, faults F80, shutdowns and customer servive that ust hangs on hold with crappy music
Greetings, I also have the 61 error. Is it possible to update the firmware with linux? I do not operate with windows at all. I will also need the cable please.
You will probably have to use wine to emulate it. First download wine, Then do the steps as he did. When you download the software on your computer, open it with wine.
Is this only for people experiencing the Error 61 message?
Yes, this update is specifically targeting the error 61 issue.

Just received my cable and 3 new batteries from Signature Solar. Did the firmware update but still getting error 61 when using eg4 setting. I have a single inverter with a single eg4 battery hooked up. I have 3 more to hook up but don't want to waste my time if I can't get the inverter working correctly. Any tips? I
Someone said after the update is done, unplug the communication cable from Inverter that goes to your battery, and plug it back in.
If you have 4 units that paralleled, is it ok to do the firmware update?

Currently, our firmware updates can only be done on Windows-based PCs.

I have eg4 6000ex-48hv. Came with usb/rj45 cable. Update connects but nothing happens. Com port open but no data transfer
Luckily I have a usb/rs232 adapter that does work. The stuff shipped needs a null modem adapter and does not work.

Hi Rich, I have same inverter been running for 4 months no problem. This Jan 2023 the AC output quits after a few hours with or without a load. I am hoping a firmware update will correct the issue. The SS tech said I need USB to ethernet cable, you mention usb?rs232 adapter. Can i buy the same adapter you are using on Amazon/wherever? Appreciate your reply. Rick Camarillo
