@@KeshariPiyush24 If you want to get into doing some embedded stuff then an easy way to start would be to get an arduino or rasberry pi. It requires a bit more knowledge about electronics, but you can often search to find the hardware you need.
As being an employee of HP, i can confirm to you that the method of updating only when an issue arises is not a good method. Some updates are pushed to prevent issues from happening that would in the end require an system board replacement, such as Intel ME firmware. Not to mention it does provide security improvments and bug fixes that may have caused issues you didnt know you were having. Ideally for best performance and stability its recommended to keep all of your drivers, firmware, bios and chipset up to date. Linus is right though there is a risk of doing a bios update, but the chance of something happening is very slim as long as you know what you are doing.

Most of the time there will be a ME driver that runs in windows and then the actual ME firmware in a seperate update to update the ME engine on system board. If doing all the updates doesnt resolve may want to consider doing a warranty claim if you have warranty.

Please check your ME FW Update Utility package and try again. " Clicking to update manually fails too. I've tried a few things from Lenovo help sites that have failed also. Any tips?? Firmware is a set of instructions or a program that runs microcontroler(s) in your electronic devices driving it's principal functions and usually stored in eeprom memory chip. Without this code\firmware your device is literary a brick. "Conventional software" is also a program but sits on a higher abstraction level that allows us to control the device. The best analogy would be, think of the firmware as an autonomic\parasympathetic nervous system in human body, that controls basic functions like intestine peristalsis, heart beat rate and etc.
However in some devices such as smartphones and especially for IPhones and IPads the operating system is designed in a way that it’s also the firmware at the same time so there’s a dedicated part of the operating system that acts as the firmware! :)
Firmare ... the "middle man" between HW and SW that brings the HW to a standard set of instructions. Think of it as a language translator between someone speaking English and another speaking Japanese. The hardware can act how it wants to and the software speaks to the firmware to get the functions it wants from the hardware.

Regarding laptop bios update, it is not possible to update the bios before plugging in the power adapter, because you get a warning window that says you have to connect the power adapter, or similar text. however on new laptops I have seen it
I have to disagree just a bit with the parts about the monitor or remote. They will have some single chip processor that will have firmware then the menu and functions are written for that. Just like the ATMEGA chips in Arduino will do nothing until you load the bootloader, this is the firmware and then you write code for it. nitpicking I know, but this it how they work.

Yeah I've been getting an error on my Intel ME Firmware ever since the first update on my Lenovo Thinkpad. Something about can't read the SKU
