In 2005, i spend 15 days camping in the grass of the castle with a Belgian youth movement (Les Scouts). Lots of memories... It's funny how the place are changed ! Now, it's a 5 stars hotel^^
Its such a shame how this Castle got so close to coming back to life and then to be left abandoned. Maybe one day, some one will be able to finish it and bring it back to its former glory. Even after €50 Million being spent on it, what a shame.
This is NOT Dunboy Castle as Jess rightly says. It was Puxley mansion so please remove it or take the vido of the ruins further down the lane towards the sea edge and there you will find the wonderful position where the real Dunboy Caslte stood
why is this called Dunboy Castle, when it is in fact 'Puxley's Mansion'. Owned previously by a John Puxley, who was shot by one the O'Sullivan clan. As stated here, the real Dunboy (blown up and destroyed by the english !) lies in ruins on the edge of the water. Just seems disrespectful to the O'Sullivan clan to have it misreprsented like this, when so many of our clansmen gave their lives in defence of Dunboy, only to have an englishmans hotel named after it !
jess walsh it was owened by the o sullivan clan before the queen gave it to the puxley family. After she had killed many of the sullivans who were my ancesstors
Ok, this is not a lie, but really funny to read so i recomend you do. I am part of the O'Sullivan family, and in the 16 hundreds we owned a castle just next to this one, The O'Sullivan caastle. This was at the time when the british were invading. The british came, killed most of my relatives, and the rest fled. in the 1920's the IRA burnt part of our castle. Then while they were rebuilding this hotel, they stole our bricks. THIS IS NO JOKE, so...... GIVE ME MY BRICKS BACK! :):)
hello i am also part of the osullivan clan my father died in 1976 i would love to be in contact with you i am told my grandfather was edward conner osulllivan and my great aunt was cathrin anne osullivan and her twin sister my great aunt was barbera osulliva. thank you sheila.
