I have made them with yeast but, frankly, I prefer chemical leavening. Also 1/8 tsp. cream of tartar (no more) per egg white will yield slightly better results. This only applies to whipping them in glass bowls.

I love Belgian waffles! I watched them being made in Bruges and I was surprised to see that they were getting soft balls of ‘dough’ off a tray to put in the waffle iron. You said they are many different ways to make them and that way was a different way for sure! Thanks for your version ❤

John, I recently got a new waffle maker and, not having seen your recipe, prepared Belgian Waffles using the recipe that came along with the waffle iron. The recipe was very similar to yours, and the waffles turned out perfectly. My question for you - is it ok to refrigerate the extra batter for a few days and simply use it as needed? Or, is this a no-no?

A couple of comments from trying this recipe a couple of times. DO: Use room temp or lightly warm ingredients to avoid clumping. DONT: Double your recipe without having a large enough bowl
You might develop your recipes with sea salt in mind but but traditionally recipes have been written for table salt in oldet cookbookes and I'm kind of used to thw way that tastes. And most of the companies you're buying your ingredients from are still developing their recipes with table salt such King Arthur and Ghirardelli. If a salt type is not specified in a recipe I usually assumed it was written for table salt.
For a "make the night before" batter, can I combine the whipped egg whites with the wet ingredients, or should I keep them separate until after I have stirred the wet and dry ingredients together?

This is my go to recipe. Fluffy sweet with a lovely vanilla scent. Frozen in individual baggy and put in toaster next day. Love it!!!

We differentiate between Brussels waffles (fluffy), Liegeois (solid), and so on.
and we dont eat fruit on waffles (only strawberries are maybe allowed), or put sirup on them. but they do look tasty, but noting like belgium waffles

A great receipes 😊but we do in Belgium yeast at the Brüssels Waffles ,Not baking Powder, they are more crunchy and fluffy ❤
