Man, thank you for this info !! 3 yrs after you made this video you just potentially saved me from a disaster !! Was looking up how to change the rear upper because the ball joints are shot, decided to just replace the entire upper arm because it just looks rough. I questioned the integrity of the lower arms due to rust issues but played it off as surface rust. I cringed when I saw how the one in your video broke, paused the video when you said you could push your finger through the other one, went to mine and pushed in the same spot as you. Guess what? I stopped pushing when I heard the crunching sound I was hoping I would not hear. Ordering new lowers today and it's not coming down off the shop lift until I get them installed. Sorry for the long post but your video literally could have just saved my life... God Bless
Hey man don’t know if you seen the comment about looking up the vin and if it’s the original part they replace and do all the work for free , mines are rusted super bad an I looked mine up and now I’m scheduled for replacement for free. Worth a shot
Mine snapped just like yours! Sitting here waiting for AAA as I type (wait going on 4 hrs now ,AAA is garbage)! My question is - I'm not seeing Right/Left being specified.... do ALL rear lower control arms come in pairs? Absolutely no useful info on this on Advance, AutoZone & RockAuto websites!
If you've noticed your liberty veering to left when you let off the gas and then veering to the right when you get back on it. Good chance this is what's wrong. There's a recall, Dodge will fix it

Thank you! You pointed out and addressed issues I otherwise would never have known.

Good evening. I have a 2003 Jeep Liberty but don’t seem to see any information about rear lower control arms.
Do you have a link to this recall?
So what does it do when it's bad?
It could fail causing your rear axle to shift
Mine broke basically when you press the gas it allows the rear axle to come forward and when you brake it swings backwards and makes the vehicle turn.
