"Juice" Newton is a pop & country singer, songwriter & musician. Merrilee Rush had a hit in 1968 with the song "Angel Of The Morning". Juice Newton recorded it in 1981. She had a lot of great hits in the 80's such as "Queen Of Hearts", "The Sweetest Thing (I've Ever Known)", "Ride 'Em Cowboy", "Love's Been A Little Bit Hard On Me", "Break It To Me Gently", "Heart Of The Night", "Stranger At My Door", A Little Love", "Restless Heart", "You Make Me Want To Make You Mine", "Hurt," "Both To Each Other (Friends & Lovers)" (with Eddie Rabbitt) etc.
@dagmar.6954 YES! SHE DEFINITELY needs to check out Queen of Hearts and The Sweetest Thing I've Ever Known! Those two are so great! She's one of my favorite artists from that era! A truly unique voice, also a beautiful AND very elegant looking woman. #NYGenXBIKERLady
This itself is a cover of the Merrilee Rush hit from the 1960s, which in turn was a cover as well. Juice's was the most successful version, topping the charts all the way to #1.

I worked for the forest service in 1968 and we all had to spend one week in the fire tower, well, I must have heard this song a couple of hundred times the week I spent in that tower. I always liked the song and especially liked Juice Newton's voice and of course when I hear that song any time it takes me back to that fire tower😊😊
Beautiful song. I loved this song as a child but not so impressed today. Must have been in a different place then for this song to capture me then. So it must have been healing for me in some way. Interesting. I dont need the healing today. Glad your still going .
I remember singing this song in the backseat while my Dad was driving us home from a family gathering. It felt HUGE! Thank you for your reaction and for bringing this great memory back.
This song has an interesting history. It reached # 7 on Billboard in 1968 - and that version (by Merrilee Rush) was used in the film 'Girl, Interrupted.' Juice Newton covered the song in 1981, and her version reached # 4 on Billboard. There have been quite a few artists who have used the song, and Shaggy's Interpolation of the melody for his song, Angel, was the most popular reaching # 1 on Billboard. I was 10 years old when Juice released the song, and it was one of my absolute favorite songs..... until I got older and realized it was basically referring to a 1-night stand. I still love her voice and the melody, just not the meaning of the song.
I liked Shaggy’s sample. A guy had a crush on me in high school and played it for me. 😂. That was sweet. LOL miss you the gang, Jayy. Just been so busy -MulletMayhem
The movie “Promising Young Woman” forever changed this song for me. If you haven’t seen it, and you like psychological thrillers, I suggest watching it.
SHAGGY COVERED THIS SONG AND CHANGED SOME OF THE LYRICS IN 2000. MANY PEOPLE COVERED THIS SONG. THE ORIGINAL WRITER OF THE SONG IS CHIP TAYLOR WAY BACK IN 1967 AND ORIGINALLY RECORDED BY EVIE SANDS. JUICE NEWTON COVERED THIS SONG IN 1981.

I remember the version by Merrilee Rush, but this one takes it to another level. Thanks for the review.

I recall when she did this remake. I was in love.

Yeah, Jayy, you remember this from the opening of Deadpool...
This was sampled by Shaggy for his 1999 album, Hot Shot, in the song Angel.
Before shaggy it was sang by Barbara Jones reggae version. My favorite cover of this song
You'll have to listen to her The Sweetest Thing song. Great song!
Thank you! ❤
Juice Newton was awesome..

Crissie Hynde of the Pretenders covered it, this is a cover as well.
Merrilee Rush is the original singer of this song from the 60s and it was imo the best.
Yep, Merrilee Rush in 1968.

This is by far the best version of this song. So warm and soothing
I like Barbara Jones's version of this song . Reggae style . Check it out
I listen to this song alot when it first came know it my heart love it
Check out the the reggae version cover of this song sang by Barbara Jones
You're right! It's a cover, the original is from a singer named Melanie Rush in the 60's.
Merrilee Rush sang it first in '68, Juice Newton in 81.
Yep, Shaggy on, "Angel." Juice is also not the original. It was Merrilee Rush in 1968.
You’re trying to think of Shaggy and I don’t even know he is but vaguely remember it.
Surprised nobody mentioned Deadpool yet
peter as deadpool on family guy

Juice’s version was great. So was Mrs. Tom Hanks version.
You’re thinking of Shaggy
This is a cover from the same song from Merilee Rush in 1968. I prefer Merilee's version from '68.
Evie Sands record it first, in 1967
Nope, you're not trippin
Shaggy
Yes, a rapper rip this song off. You're right.
