  • This is part one of a series as I take on the challenges of a planting a lawn in the spring. This area has no way to get water to it so we will have to time it around natural rain. We will video updates throughout the project.
"Outdoors with Allen" is a channel about enjoying the day to day projects of rural living. you'll see videos about tractor work, lawn mowers , hunting for deer, planting food plots, gardening and taking care of property. There will also be some episodes about photography. I own two businesses, Austin Portrait Design and Va Yard Pros. Hope you will consider becoming a subscriber!

Good video, I recently added a York rake to my toolset and have field stone to remove, so just looking for a video that shows generally how to use it.
Also, I really liked the first music selection for the time-lapse portion of the video. Sounded like Django Rhinehardt (acoustic jazz guitar...).
Hope you and your growing family are all well these days!

Thanks for the comments. The Hydrolic top link is key to making fine adjustments to the rake's heigh. I let the 3pt all the way down and raise the teeth of the rake just slightly above the ground. This way you can gather debris and knoce down high spots. I have learned a lot since this video and I may do another video this summer to be more clear on how I use it. Stay tuned !

    Do the wheels help?

they work the best when trying to level out loose material like top soil or gravel. I am still learning the best way to adjust the wheels in conjunction with my hydraulic top link. The hydraulic top link may be the best add on to my tractor, it really lets you make some fine adjustments from the tractor seat. Highly recommend it!
