    You don't really need an additional heat source like your laminator. Laser printers have a fuser that bonds the toner to the paper with heat.
    The way I've always done this is put the paper back into the printer with the foil on top and print a blank page.

    • @KarleyHall
      @KarleyHall  ปีที่แล้ว

      Woah! I would have never thought of that even knowing that laser printers use heat! Do you place it in an clear pouch to hold the foil in place? I can’t wait to try all of the suggestions in the comments! Thanks for your input!!

    • @seismojones
      @seismojones ปีที่แล้ว

      @@KarleyHall No, the rollers keep them in place together but you need to use the manual feed of the printer instead of putting it in the regular feed tray, otherwise it'll only feed whatever is on top.
      In the manual tray you need to hold them and help push both the paper and foil at the same time.
      I have tried it in a while- probably 20 years, so hopefully modern laser printers work the same way.

    • @KarleyHall
      @KarleyHall  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@seismojones interesting! If this paper had a rear tray I think it could work, but I don’t think the foil would stay in place from the bottom tray! I’ll have to experiment! Thanks again for your advice!!

    • @rd-gi6jw

      Place foil only on the part you want to foil. Cover all the printed text with a thin sheet of paper to avoid transferring toner to the pouch or you will ruin it.

    • @oronjoffe
      @oronjoffe 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It has to be a laser printer. The Dymo 4XL is a thermal transfer printer and does not use toner, which is what the foil sticks to.

      It'll be in your printer settings! Make sure you have your printer's driver installed properly and adjust your settings to the best quality. It isn't an illustrator setting.

    Could you create this project on a Cricut machine (without cutting)? It seems that a cutting machine will foil and cut, so I'm wondering if purchasing a cutting machine instead of a foiling machine will give me more options. Thanks.

    • @KarleyHall
      @KarleyHall  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      There are a few ways you can make it with a cricut but it’s much harder than this. You’d have to cut good vinyl (adhesive or heat transfer vinyl), weed out the negative part, and then transfer it on. Or you could use the cricut foil, and draw with the foil tool- but I wouldn’t recommend that.

      @@KarleyHall I have seen both of those methods on youtube. The first option is far too much work. It seems that the cricut foil tool would work just fine, except that the process takes longer than the minc. Other than time, are there any other reasons to use the minc instead of the cricut foil tool? I'm just learning about these machines and not sure of everything I will want to create once I really get started, so I'm trying to understand when one would use minc foiling instead of the cricut foil tool and vice versa. Thanks again.

    • @KarleyHall
      @KarleyHall  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@cynthiacarter9592 the foil tool isn’t a great option because it works in single strokes. You can’t “fill” in the foil well. So say you have a heart image-/ with the foil tool- it’ll just draw the outside of the heart and there will not be any foil inside the heart.
