      @@connor3288 what exactly do you think adjusting the suspension does? Changes/affects the geometry of the entire quad.

    • @connor3288
      @connor3288 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@howardroark9 Shock settings do nothing to change geometry, not even ride height. The geometry is determined by the arm length, spindles, arm mounts, tierod mounting. For minimal bumpsteer, the tierod and spindle have to move in similiar arcs throughout the travel, bumpsteer pretty much is what it is from the factory design, unless you start redoing the chassis engineering/build custom frame. On cars I have heard of shimming the tierod ends to reduce bumpsteer a little when ride height is changed. I think most quads have a small amount of it. Polaris used to have a design that pretty much eliminated it, called PRO steering if i recall right.

    • @connor3288
      @connor3288 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@howardroark9 Preload settings can obviously change ride height, but also can affect the rake (angle of frame) which could change your effective caster a tiny bit. And could also change your swingarm angle a little and antisquat. How much that matters for most people, probably not much. Probably more important in supersport bikes with 100+hp.

    If you want a good sounding exhaust without being absurdly loud go with the yoshimura RS2. I have one on my 2018 yfz450r that’s street legal here in West Virginia and I haven’t gotten any complaints or pulled over by the cops for it being to loud but it does sound pretty good!

    • @FunGoingFast
      @FunGoingFast  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Did you do a fuel controller too or just the exhaust?

    • @bryanhryb3598
      @bryanhryb3598 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@FunGoingFast yes a vortex is almost a must have for these newer yfzr’s. The other fuel controllers like PC5 and MSD piggyback off the stocK ECU which is tune very lean to meet epa regulations whereas the vortex completely replaces the stock ECU. The difference from stock to vortex is phenomenal and it really makes the quad run like it’s supposed to. I was quite disappointed when I bought my 2018 yfzr but my mind was changed as soon as I put that vortex in the quad. No more low end bog and the throttle response is flawless with the vortex. It makes it a completely different quad! I know they are expensive but they are worth every penny!

    • @bryanhryb3598
      @bryanhryb3598 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh I forgot this was a video on the raptor lol. Either way when you start changing stuff that changes the airflow like exhaust and intake you should always use a fuel controller bc when you add air you have to add fuel or you’ll be running the engine lean and that’s one of the worst things you can do for these engines.

      @@dannyzavolta1231 yeah man totally legal to register and license quads and SXS in West Virginia. If I were you and you were only wanting it for street use only I’d go with the raptor. I love ripping my 450r around town but it doesn’t like to be going 55-60 mph for very long bc it has such short gears and runs at high revs. The raptor platform would be your best option unless your planning also riding/racing off roads also then I’d probably pick the 450. I’m planning on making a street legal raptor 700 once I get the money up.

    Aside from reason 3, the only other legitimate reason to not buy one which i dont know how you missed is the discontinuation of a digital speedometer, considering how many states and local municipalities are now legalizing atv use on roadways i'm surprised that the fed govt hasnt mandated them to be built with speedometers and turnsignals

    • @FunGoingFast
      @FunGoingFast  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have mentioned the digital speedometer in other vidieos, including comparing my 2009 that had one with this one. If you read about it, in 2013, they tried to drop the price a little bit and one of the cost savings was getting rid of the Speedometer. I agree it should be brought back. And I would say the legitimate reasons vary depending on the person, so this is my opinion of things people should be aware of when purchasing it.

    Legitimate reasons not to buy the 700:
    It’s RWD which means is not great for rocky and steep terrain
    The rear suspension is not fully independent so it is not as comfortable
    There’s no room for cargo or additional fuel

    • @toddmerriott6901
      @toddmerriott6901 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Your clearly not a sport qaud guy. Bring up rwd? No independent rear suspension? Thats what makes it a fast and light. Manufacturers have try to make a independent suspension sport quads and failed (Honda , kawi, Polaris) raptor for the win!

    What ???? Ok so why did u buy it if it's too much ? And it's and atv / ya ride off road it's gonna scratch lol.. and the white marks are from the fender being bent .. heat gun will turn it back to blue .. ya crazy man

    • @FunGoingFast
      @FunGoingFast  ปีที่แล้ว

      1) I didnt buy it new so I didn’t pay that prixe. Im referring to if you did buy it new. 2) Those marks are from washing with cold water. This atv has never been rolled. I watched the mark appear as I was washing it and have seen it happen many times with other Yamahas Ive owned. It is a common thing and only happnes with the purplish blue (oem plastic color name).

      Where did I say they have to be dirt proof? There is a difference in havimg durability over time verses saying it cant get dirty. Its interesting how many people are bothered by my comments. You guys need to increase your standards. These things are $14k out the door now. That price comes with higher expectations. Or it should.

      If you did watch it you will see I did say that I love the Raptor and its my favorite atv, but its not perfect. If I named it “a few things to be aware of on a great quad” no one would click on it. And its not perfect so I just wanted to share my thoughts on some issues or areas of improvement”. I have a review of it that talks about all the strengths and it only has 5k views and this has 94k views so its clear what people are more interested in hearing about.

    ITS A FOUR WHEELER, thdy are supposed to get scuffed up, they are rugged enough to deal with a scratch, and also its cheap to replace the plastics, that's why its plastic, if you have a problem with how a four wheeler is made, then why are you buying them? 😑😐😑

    • @FunGoingFast
      @FunGoingFast  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Its not cheap to replace the plastics at all. If you get new oem it could be over $1,000 and that is without decals. Even though ite cheap plastic.

  • @luisvazquez2738
    @luisvazquez2738 ปีที่แล้ว

    This dude is just complaining besides the price. You don't
    Buy new shoes and expect them to be new expectantly if you wear them. The clutch throw is long but look at cuervoatv TH-cam and you'll know why most aftermarket clutch handle is bad for the raprot. If you want something for the track get a yfz450. The raprot does got a narrow stance and you should know what you want before you make this kind of investment

    • @FunGoingFast

      Im always fascinated by the aggressive negative reactions from this video. No machine is perfect and design is about trade offs. Making something good in one area will generally take away from another area. Its why we have emtire industries based on reviewing products. Cars, stereos, tools, bicycles etc. i love Yamaha and the Raptor but Im willing to acknowledge areas where it may not be perfect so people can be aware before dropping $12,000. Ive always heard Tesla fan boys were hostile to criticism. Thanks for watching.
