Have own a few of both and i love both quads for many reasons. But nothing like the torqe of the bigbore 700...hammer it from a roll and they pull hard espeacially 2015+ with big 3
I bougt new in 22 a yfz and i love it!! Its such a rush to ride!! Mine is all stock and dont really plan on upgrades because its plenty fast for 42 year old guy. I really prefer the stock exhaust and like it quite.
Never owned a raptor but I have a million hours logged on a blaster, banshee, and a Yfz. With race experience on the banshee and Yfz…. The Yfz chassis is incredible. Many times I was prepared to eat the dirt and the Yfz straightened out and kept me on the tires. In those same situations the banshee would have dumped me…. Can’t speak for the raptor but with how much I liked the Yfz it would be hard for me to choose anything over the 450
I prefer the yfz over raptor because it's wish length and lower makes it a whole new level of balence and stablness and safety is better and you feel safer to drive faster and more comfortably plus its slowness is good for balence and low stance is better for racing and in my opinion it just looks better and more aggressive its more expensive for a good reason
I live in the Middle East. Kuwait to be exact, and we have many sand dune/ desert biome areas. so I am looking for something that’s both soft and stable for those sudden washboard situations.
450 is gonna be at you up way more so If your under 30yo go 450 over 30yo 700. Don't get me wrong I'm sure there's 40 yo that still love to tear it up on the regular but they're not as common as the ones that are feeling their age. Im 51 and have a cammed and piped ect 01 660 and I haven't ridden it in years just have no interest, it just sits collecting dust,it's in pretty good shape but at its age it really should have a new timing chain maybe a set of rings while im in it but I'd rather put my time and money into my 95 5.0 and my old 92 c1500 hot rod truck maybe someday go all through it n give it a spit shine, wouldn't mind building a wheelie bar and take it to the drag strip and have some slow fun, would be cool to put it on the chip and dump the clutch and not end up on the grab bar.
@@FunGoingFast Well, don’t get me wrong… the 4 x 4 ATVs are fun as well in their own right. Had one myself…A Polaris 500 HO. But I used that mostly for hunting and exploring. But a sport quad is more like a MOTOCROSS bike. It’s a DIFFERENT kind of fun. But apparently, people have lost interest. If they hadn’t, then all these other manufacturers wouldn’t have stopped making them. And that’s sad too… Because I really loved motocross and sport quads.
I want to buy a atv to ride in the city, any recommendations on which is the best and why? Also is the raptor or the yfz also a good option to choose for?
Hmm. My only experience is riding off-road. So maybe someone else can chime in. I know when looking on Marketplace it does seem like there are a lot of Raptors with street tires.
Maybe you can answer I guestion for me, does the YZ450 engine ever filter down to the YZF? The newest gen of the YZ engine came out in '23, it is now in the WR. What year of the YZF could one expect the latest 450 design to be in?
Sorry do you mean the YFZ motor filtering to the YZF? I know it’s alphabet soup. My understanding is the YFZ (atv) motor was based on the YZF but it hasnt been updated since around 2015/16. I think its Yamahas plan at this point to keep making the YFZ and Raptor (which we are all thankful for) but mot really put much R & D since they have no competition so no real reason to update or innovate. Whereas there is a healthy dirtbike 450 market with motocross still being popular and heavily supported by multiple manufacturers. Sorry if that didn’t answer your question.
Could you please tell me Something about engine overheating ? How does the 450 behave on slower riding? I need to drive 10-15 slow miles (stop and go) to arrive to my favorite trails....
The 450s definitely run hot and the header pipe likes to glow red as you have probably noticed, especially on the carb models. Thats quite a haul. In the summer I would be concerned about that especially if you arent getting out of 1st gear. And hauling it to the trail isnt an option? Although if you have a working temp light and its not coming on you should be ok. (Assuming yours if functioning). If it is coming on Id be pulling over immediately to let it cool down until the light isnt on anymore. And of course make sure you arent low on coolant and its not 5 years old. And try to keep the rpms as low as possible (highest gear you can use without bogging). Good luck!
Are you still running the stock clutch? I heard the 14+ clutch baskets tend to fail. I just bought a 24 and I’m wondering if it’s worth it to switch to the old style basket or upgrade to rekluse/hinson setup.
@Masoic21 Hey what’s up, just wanted to give you a heads up about that and personally I’m still running the stock clutch and I’ve had my yfz for a few years already. I’m not that easy on my clutch. However, I’d recommend getting the older clutch basket design if you plan on putting some HP and depending on your weight. I only have a slip on and I’m not adding much HP and I’m very light.
100%. There is no other manufacturer making a manual sport quad still. And there hasnt been for several years. Im not talking about used, Im referring to continued production.
@@FunGoingFast yeah you’re right. Did some research because I just couldn’t believe. Yamaha is going to eat up the market because they know people still buy them. If you have an older Honda/suzuki/kawasaki it’s going to be worth it. Great vid!
Yfz they get Extremely hot, that you can even stop for 20sec.motor is weak they break the valve so easy.to many issues front sprocket and clutch cover.the only bad side on the raptor is the stability but is a easy fix whit front spacers,$50 alba racing and you'll feel the difference for good.. Raptor all the way..
Still slower than my predator and my 650 lol I see if you're going to spend the money on the bike you go for the fastest bike just so you have that range and if you're a guy like me who is 6,4 riding those 450 are not that comfortable easy to whip around yes but not comfortable

I understand completely! Nice. Enjoy!
What’s up phill I need a 450 in my life again how’s that 22?
Yfz are the best.

Good feedback. Thanks for commenting.
I miss my 07 yfz se. I had a full Dasa exhaust.
The DASAs Ive heard sound nasty for sure.

Fair points. It is incredibly stable handling wise.

The Raptor suspension is much more forgiving. The 450 is very firm and is more for jumping and really aggressive riding.
@ which is more fun in your opinion?
Great video love from Sri Lanka 🇱🇰

Yeah I dont disagree with any of that.
I'm 56 and thinking about the 450R SE, actually picking one up this Saturday
@@brenthskll how is it? are you happy with it?
How much you want for the raptor
Why has all the other manufacturers stop making sport quads? I used to have a blast on mine! Has the activity lost its allure with people somehow?
Excellent question. They are the most fun. It feels like the side by side market killed them but I dont understand when dirtbikes are selling strong.

is the 700 smoother on the trails?
No question! Completely different and easier to ride on the trails. You cant sling it around like you can the YFZ but is much easier to ride.
700 for trials, some track. 450 for track riding. Just my opinion I’ve driven both

If your more into trail riding the 700 all the way if you want to go to the track get the 450
Agreed 100%. It is that simple

A 700 would still smoke your 450 🥵
700 raptor is not for cross .on road its best atv quad
09r clutch basket it the 14+ or youll be sorry u didnt. THE 14+ clutch basket WILL BREAK MARK MY WORDS.

Yeah faster nowhere but in a straight line to top speed... everywhere else you're back with the utility quads.
