I'm from the Philippines, and have been studying Filipino folklore and myth. With Sisu and the dragon, the Philippines does have references to the Naga, which is the same Naga found in Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia and Laos. A lot of the written lore was lost during the Spanish occupation of the country, the Naga and Dragons of the Philippines are more than just the Bakunawa. :)
@Low Bro not to cause any arguements. but as per dragons and nagas in the philippines or rather the islands long before they were named. you have to consider that there was an influx of cultures coming in from the the islands of taiwan (non han chinese people) and then the influx of people coming in from indonesia. malaysia and then a wave of beliefs (brought in by trade, migration and movement) such as buddhism and hinduism. these came in way before islam came to the southern islands and parts of the north. and much much earlier than the spanish and catholicism. as per more examples of dragons/nagas, a good example is Lakan Danum (a water deity of the tagalogs, northern tagalogs), he was a dragon/naga who could shapeshift. crocodiles on the other had were called “nuno” by our ancestors, because they believed that they were the reincarnation of the dead. the belief in dragons living in the waters, similar to the thai, cambodian, laotian and veitnamese beliefs also existed. but again the stories were lost due to the spanish coming in and destorying what written records the people had and destroying the oral traditions. as for an explanation, here’s a video that you could get some info from:
Raya is based on several southeast Asian cultures Malay, thai,Indonesian,Brunei,Philippines,Vietnam,Cambodia,Laos,Singapore which makes me so proud to see some Southeast Asian representation
it would be a great thing also if disney make a film that represent the filipino-spanish culture like "encanto" co'z we have a version of it "engkanto"

You won't find that in The Philippines, pre-colonial Filipinos build with wood that were easily destroyed decades later so what we Filipinos see as "Filipino Architecture" is what the Spanish brought to us- The architecture in Encanto is similar to Filipino architecture What you saw in Encanto? Filipino claimed that Encanto is Filipino...
We can't blame em- They're really hungry for representation and you won't feel that with Raya since she's too mixed with other cultures to the point you won't even feel the part that's supposed to be yours
Encanto on the other hand sticks with Colombian Hispanic culture which Filipinos somewhat have some sort of relatibility with
Like Mirabel literally calls her Uncle Bruno "tiyo" in Filipino we use "tito" for the same purpose
And the architecture that you see in Raya? You won't find that in The Philippines, pre-colonial Filipinos build with wood that were easily destroyed decades later so what we Filipinos see as "Filipino Architecture" is what the Spanish brought to us- The architecture in Encanto is similar to Filipino architecture
What you saw in Encanto? You can find that in The Philippines but what you saw in Raya? You can't find that here, it didn't exist (other than the bahay kubo in the background of some scenes)
Even the name "Encanto" it's a word Filipinos use often for mythical creatures "Engkanto"
Shes actually filipina raya is filipina
I think raya is Indonesian
RAYA IS SOUTH EAST ASIAN😐. NOT JUST INDONESIAN
@@animosity8280 south east Asian is not a country
No it's not.. She is embodied South East Asians..
So pretty much non existant
raya is filipino
I have several questions;
How do girls become gay😆
Taga pilipinas rin ako,tama siya
Southeast Asian but Philippines is not part of the inspiration!!! Hehehehe... Us Filipinos needs to stop claiming nor assuming if they really don't want us to be part of it!!! Philippines is never been mentioned to all interviews relating to this movie... Hehehe... Not a biggie and let's all move on!!!
