If he didn’t like them he wouldn’t own so many. Guess fan boys don’t like hearing shimano’s better? By the way I like both.

    I've noticed a few more things with this reel. The nut cap on mine appears different than what you got. The T-wing system on mine (3 reels) all wiggle a lot, makes it feel cheap. The other is the spool knob tension. I don' t like how difficult it is to access now and I find all of mine difficult to adjust, like it does not grip as well as any other reel I have used.
    I did confirm the spool tensioner had the rubber piece and the hard carbon piece to press against, it does eventually grip but not what I'm use to at all. I have it setup per their recommendations, adjust it to where there is no play in the spool then back it off some.
    I'm no expert but I'm more of a fan of the older models honestly.

    Nice,It's always fun to see new gear come about. Yesterday afternoon I finally landed fish with the gh100L + kuying tetton 522SUL. It was only 2 pumpkinseed sunfish. The xf-50 with the new lighter spool, casts way better than it used to as well. The gh100 feels a lot more solid of a reel than the xf-50, and had no problems slingin a homemade foam popper with a dropper fly around . The revo x and new spool casts nicely as well. I almost feel spoiled with all these new toys to mess around with. Shame the fish are slow because of the cold temps.

    Can the sv tw spool be used in the Elite tatula?

    Good review. Let's see how it performs? I bought a Tatula 100 two weeks ago, the side to side movement was about 2mm straight from the factory! The reel was useless at this setting. I reset it and the reel casts fantastically well using quality 8 stand 20lbs braid. Extremely smooth reel and good for cranking in the 6.3 model. I wouldn't trust the factory setting of the zero adjust though.

    I must be doing something wrong with my Curado DC. First, I have the Tatula SV TWS baitcaster and it outcasts my DC. Not by much, but I've had it out more than a few times and not only do I get fewer back lashes with the Daiwa (although to be fair I don't really get backlashes with either except rarely) but the Curado DC keeps giving me these stupid small loops about every 5th to 7th cast and I have to stop and pull them out. It's pretty annoying. I know it comes with factory settings and all I needed to do was put it on setting 3 but frankly, after changing line from InvisX to Sunline Assassin I'm still having the same results. Finally got desperate enough I tightened the reel spool and that has helped a bit, but now the Tatula not only feels better to cast and is more accurate, but I've lost a slight bit more distance on the Curado DC's cast, which frankly I don't care about as I'm more concerned with accuracy. Anyway, in 10 minutes I have to say I had the Tatula dialed in on my Avid. It's been 6 months and the DC is still a frustration though not nearly as bad as it was. That's my experience and if anyone knows where I am making a mistake let me know as I'm finding nothing wrong with the reel and it casts well with braid. I may have to go back to braid and a leader perhaps.

    • @THEREELTEST
      @THEREELTEST  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah that Curado and SLX DC do require some spool tension tinkering and they definitely dont like when you switch up line modes. Should have gotten a Scorpion DC

    I recently bought the Dawia Tatula ZV TW103 and I’ve been having a problem out of the box. I don’t know if this is the ‘norm’ with this reel but the spool on my right hand has a very large gap and with my experience there shouldn’t one that big or none at all. The gap is literally between 1/16 and 2/16 inches big. I have braided line on mine and the line has already gotten caught in the gap and raveled around the spool rod. I have to take off the side of the reel then unravel the line from that spot and I’ve done it multiple times already. Can someone please help? Thanks.

The most interesting thing he told me when we had a good conversation while fishing was that Daiwa is Masculine & most korean men use Daiwa & female anglers use Shimano’s and I thought that culture was intriguing and I laughed at him because I am biased toward Shimano. I also notice that Ever Green Rods are very popular in Korea and at the time I never heard of such Japanese Brand.... I ask him how much does those rods run and he said $500~700 😮 and in my head I was like that’s more then a NRX or Distroyer

      The new SV Coastal is supposed to be for "finesse light line" saltwater fishing. A 300 sized reel kinda defeats the purpose of finesse lures. The older Coastal 200 is a true 200sized reel and does okay with 3/8ths lures and up. The Lexa 300 cast worse with anything under 1/2oz. I have all 3 reels.

    I was never a fan of Daiwa casting reels. Historically they professed to make the most innovated casting reels I believed to be false. I am referring back around 1980. Popular bass reels were Abu Garcia and Lew’s Speed Spool. Shimano then offered their Bantam model 10 and I bought one. I continued to compare Daiwa reels to Shimano reels and they never seem worth spending more and getting less. When Shimano reels prices climbed too high, I bought Quantum models and Abu models. Then Pflueger Patriarch and Summit reels were my picks. I bought Lew’s, Pinnacles and Bass Pro reels too. One KastKing was enough and couple Piscifun Phantoms. Affordable BFS reels you suggested and shallow spool VBS reels covers the completed spectrums of casting tackle. I witness the Daiwa story so many times; I already know the ending; Daiwa is likely not the winner. I buy reels and rods for specific purposes. Looks are important, function is more important. Line and lure capacity, Drag, Breaking, Retrieval speed, Spool design, and Weight and reel strength and price value. If you are chucking big swimbaits and Musky lures, sturdy reels are important. The best reels for light duty are seldom the best reels for heavy duty. The point of buying different reel models is to define their application. There is no Daiwa hat going on my head anytime soon. You need to try a Dobyns Fury FR 795SB rod topped with a Lew’s Super Duty Wide Speed Spool reel loaded up with 20-pound fluorocarbon. Tie on an S-Waver or Huddleston-68 Rainbow Trout and have some fun. Take it with you next time you fish below the dam and see what follows or eats one of those lures. Most dams have open water thru winter and make a good place to fish umbrella rigs too. There is some big trout eating monster swimming below that dam ready to rock your World into another dimension that alone is worth a try. You could make a video catching fish on a Trout Magnet and a Trout swimbait in one trip.
    Note!
    1985 introducing Daiwa's amazing computerized reel. The first reel with a mind of its own. Announcing a revolutionary new fishing reel that actually comes with the brain included. The Procaster Tournament electronic reel. (Failure) 2002 Shimano's new Calcutta TE DC is the first casting reel with a brain, $529.99. Shimano Calais DC Baitcasting Reel $649.99. Jump to 2020 SLX DC reel $189.99 pretty cool successful conclusion I say.

      I agree, Daiwa's "innovations" have proven to be fluff and have no real world tangible benefit. Top quality reels, middle of the pack performance.

      @@THEREELTEST You need to see what the first DC reel looked like inside. It is amazing to see the extent of the engineering. Shimano never gave up and perfected their idea. I spent most of my life learning about a lot of things; fishing is just one. I understand Fly Fishing and Fly tying as much as other fishing techniques or styles of fishing. There is different class structures in all fishing types. The elite anglers enjoy looking down their nose at others and even among themselves. Not all privileged people act like pompous arrogant pricks but many more do than don’t. Then comes the want-a-bees class, they are the workers and you see them making repairs and improving streams and fishing waters. They attend and join fishing conservation clubs and truly enjoy making things better. Among this group is the, what can I get out this deal for me pricks. They are the ladder climbers wanting to join the elite group any way they can, no matter who they have to screw. Some own tackle shops, some are fishing guides, some make rods, lures and work in the fishing industries. They like to make plans and watch while grunts do the work. However, they are the ones indirectly and financially benefiting being worthless pricks in the name of saving fishing waters. They run to take credit for the good things they didn’t do and only watched. I learned these things by truly making an effort to improve nature, fishing, hunting and outdoor recreation. I look past the bad things and see the good every time I get outdoors. There are always going to be pricks; but I often enjoy rattling their chains given the chance because I have all the tools to do it. I like your channel and you as well. Your videos just get better and better and you make me laugh sometimes too. I hope the best for you and today I became a Senior Citizen. God Bless...

      @@THEREELTEST can u recommend a reel that suited for mangrove jack and barramundi? What ratio is good for crankbait?

    • @THEREELTEST
      @THEREELTEST  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      a 5-6 gear ratio will keep the crank bait in the strike zone longer and definitely will be alot easier to crank the handle vs high gear ratio, any reel should work in saltwater as long as you rinse it off thoroughly after each use.

      @@NashFishingChannel Daiwa Coastal SV TWS, it's basically the Tatula SV TWS with corrosion resistant ballbearings, a deeper spool and a 10 mm grip. And if you want to fish crankbait with a high gearing reel, you just reel in slower than you would have with a low gearing reel.
