I seen them on August 18 1982 at Toronto’s CNE. That was there famous video concert made for the new Pay TV Television system ! It turned out to be there last tour until they reformed in 1998 ! It’s now on TH-cam !
The mighty mixers that seek to elevate drab tracks into stunning covers for the 2020s can’t do much with original tracks like Atomic because they were light years ahead of their time when they first came out. Play the original at any modern dance venue and today’s kids will still think it was recorded yesterday that’s how good some bands from the ‘80s were and Blondie was stratospheric.
I remember hearing Blondie for the first time like 79, i was seven and we didn’t have cable, i wasn’t allowed to watch tv but i heard this wonderful voice and fell in love with their music, then when i saw Debbie i was like just instantly in love. Blondie reminders me of ushering in the early 80s with some of the best music and songs. VCR Beta just came out and not only could you watch a movie in your house, you could pause it, rewind and not miss anything. Debbie is a dream come true like. Greek demigod just so present yet untouchable
When I started secondary school, the older lads in the 4th and 5th year had their Blondie posters on the inside of their lockers and Debbie Harry was every boy in the school's fantasy crush. A goddess of my early youth.
