That line "Your hair is beautiful, ahhhh-tonight" has haunted me for decades. It's just a line in the song, but somehow it stood out from the rest of the lyrics. Incredibly beautiful, both the song and the singer.
douglas787 apparently it means that your hair won't be beautiful after a nuclear war (hence atomic right after it)
Probably cuz its pretty much the only lyric in the song
It's so sincere and "in awe" sounding. Like she has to say it because it hits her and it just comes out almost in supplication. It's worshipful. One of my favorite lines of all time. But whose hair is she talking about.
She's talking about her boy friends hair. it's a love song...she's about to get ......
douglas787 yes 😍😍😍😍 mine to.
For all you Gia Carangi fans. She appears 1:47, 2:30, 3:13, and 3:51. R.I.P. Gia, you were truly one of the most beautiful women to ever walk this earth.
Gia ❤🇧🇷
The lady with pink spring coil around her neck and sunglasses looks more like Gia, who had that hair length when this song was released.
Love my Gia ❤️
2024 and this song is still banging
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Best era for music for me personally.
@@manofbeardSynthpop and new wave of the late 1970s/early 80s was one of my favorite eras as well
I need that trash bag vest tonight. Not kidding.😂
Ou hhoooòoo
Absolutely epic! Killer guitar, killer bass, killer drumming / percussion, killer keyboards... so much space but so much going on. And that singing!
One of the coolest sounding songs in music history. It NEVER gets old!
Your comment on this song is proof of one thing for sure...Your Class Is Showing Jamie...Good Job...
I agree with you. 👍
Here in late 2021. Blondie is still awesome. 😎
completley agree
i want know you I from chili
Punk, Disco, Sci-fi, and a touch of Goth. Remarkable and underappreciated. Ahead of her time.
When you can combine the right amount of different music genres, magic happens.
Mariann Salerno
little rock n roll, RNB, disco, new wave... Only thing punk bout blonde Debbie said was their friends and venues that played.
She was the world first true Cyberpunk celebrity..and probably the only one.
Decades ahead of her time a musical genius beside the obvious beauty!
Decades ahead of her time.
This is one of the best songs ever recorded.
Clems drums are on point, not overdone just enough for this epic.
Debbie the goddess with perfect vocals....... my childhood crush, with Joan Jett.
Clem’s hi-hat work on this song is superb
Good taste man!
Omg born in 83 and this woman still makes me spin around the room ❤❤❤
Yesssss. 84 here and this hit still hits the soul...and makes me wanna party...even at home! Haha. Too bad parties don't look like this anymore.
Spring Chicken :) I never used to like this song but I love it now. On quite loud now for an old git.
This song was just way ahead......of everything. And still is.
so fucking true !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@didier.gerost.07 relax brah
It was right on time... Not ahead of time .. they made better music then..
It is. It was. They were. They are. Still way ahead. They were ahead of themselves. Their songs were bigger than they were.
I heard this on the radio two weeks ago and tripped out when I realized it was classic Blondie! -timeless...
Let's be real, her voice is angelic and the fact she even looks good in a bin bag is just 🥰
un visage et un corps angélique ne font pas quelq'un d'insifiants et cela dit que vous emmerde
She looks amazing in that bin bag
no kidding, Hefty people slept on this opportunity
She s a great artist
Yep!
Stunning song. Timeless. Play this in any disco, bar, night club….its magic
You know damn well everyone was high as a kite in this video. Brilliant song.
The best song in the history of humanity. How can she make “your hair is beautiful” sound profound 🧐
Idk😳😳♥️
Deeper tone
I totally agree!
Atomic blonde....
ITS MY FAVORITE PART OF THE SONG
The coolest singer to ever front a band.
And even the best Drummer
@@warzi1 Clem's very underrated.
Agreed. 100%
The structure, composition and performance of this ultra mega-hit was light years ahead of its time when it first exploded onto the British music scene at the turn of the 70s/80s.
Even today, it’s as fresh and magical as anything else coming out in 2024.
Agree all. You have a good taste for music! 👍🏴
She is totally adorable and stunning...the beauty...the style...the outfit...the energy...the voice....
And her laser lips
This bassline was so unbelievably far ahead of its time. It still works today. An amazing song by an amazing group. The bass solo too! Wow
All basslines from 80s are the best basslines. I'm trying, like everytime to make songs with 80s basslines and 90s electro sounds. May be one day I will make something GREAT.
I love Nigel Benjamin. Great bassist, and unjustly forgotton (but not by me).
Yeh but they could have showed it.. cool bass licks in that solo
@@FDzerzhinsky he and Pino P
drums are very tidy as well
I will never get tired of this song. A masterpiece
It kicks ass! 😊
Listening to music from decades back makes you wonder where the new generation of superstars are 🤔
This song takes me back to the days in my life when everything was just great the start of the 1980s.Several years later i lost love ones,
suffered a mental breakdown and as a result my life has never been the same since.
Let it be. You deserve it.
I still get goosebumps from this song. Despite all these years one of the best songs ever in my eyes. Is anyone still listen to this song in 2020?
Me
Yess i do, i love this song
Most definately, love this band, Debbie has such stage presence, this is my favourite song.
2021 now 😉
2021
41 years after the fact, there is just something timeless about this song.
fuck, I remember when people born in this era were in their 30s. when you say it has passed 41 years I think of the Beatles or The Doors...
I agree
Back then she traveled across the Atlantic at Mach 2. 3 hours JFK to Paris via Concorde. We have regressed in a big way. Smart phones and laptops are about all we have to show for it
Yeah. That’s how you know it’s good Stands the test of time
@@bernardboka4277 - Concorde was way too expensive to run.
There has never been anyone like Debbie Harry or Blondie! Beautiful woman!
This song brings back childhood memories for me.I was only 11 years old when this record came out in 1979,what a year that was for music.
ja, genau wie ich. 11 Jahre alt
You are so right im a year older than you so for me 78/79.
You are so lucky to have lived through such a wonderful era of music, and just life in general! (Yes I may be a little jealous 😂)
This might be one of the best example of Drums and Bass working together in the history of music. Clem Burke and Nigel Harrison are KILLING IT on this track. If you've ever played that bass solo and realized how complicated it is, then looked at how fast he plays it, it's just incredible.
I agree! Additionally, from a drummer's perspective, his hi-hat sizzle accents are spot on in a similar fashion to "Heart Of Glass". When they both break into the solo, the drummer holds the beat with the bass drum all the while playing a ghost note double kick on 2 and 4. This is such an under-rated performance.
@@RacerXGTO Clem Burke is such an underrated drummer.
@@P-Bass_Pete the greatest of all time IMHO
Просто они не знали, что это не возможно...
Right 👍
This band was doing the 80s before the 80s officially got here.
Thats because musically, the great stuff we regard as the 80's went from 77-78 till about 86. Some decent stuff later in the decade, cocteau twins, sugarcubes, pixies, janes addiction, but bubblegum pop/rock ruined great bands (The Cars you might think, magic; Van Halen jump ugghhh) until grunge said screw this pop crap and gave us another 7-8 years of great music.
Yeah, they like started in what 78 or 79 ....???
@@digitalmdrealmd9124 True, there's a lot of ~78 musics that has the 80s vibe and are considers from the 80s era 👍
Such as : "Video killed the radio star" for exemple
@@vladimirlong7125 The Ramones 1974, Talking Heads 1975 etc. You could say the same for a lot of 60's bands that didn't hit their stride and turn out their best work until the 70's
yeah there bring the hits back
Let’s suppose that this song had been released today: it still would had a very fresh feeling and it would still be a model for the music of 2024.
First record I ever bought with my pocket money!
I love when she sings "atomic" in that low voice.
The best of the song
Miss S Melly bruh how old are you
Marissa Patterson me too 😍
Miss S Melly I do, since you act like a 5 year old
Yes, as in low to high frequency as in the EMP that precedes a nuclear explosion.
Happy Birthday Blondie. 75 Years old, still got it.
She has the youth element!
Blondie is the name of the band, not the singer. The singer is Deborah Harry.
She is still beautiful even though she is 75
@@addisonjojo2990 Yes I agree, and sound good too still.
Oh, yes!
everyone is soooooo stoned in this video - lol
This one and "Dreaming" are very underrated songs.
In 1979, i was 10, Blondie was the first girl I fell in love with.
the riff is unforgettable, and when the band come in after the break it just keeps growing.
Agree with you 🏴
GTA Vice City, good memories from Primary school times :)

The keyboard and that man on drums he made it look effortless
I think Oasis stole the drummers look.
What a legend 😍 I’m 42 and they don’t make music like this anymore 💔
Amen to that, no wonder top of the pops finished, the mainstream quality just wasn’t there.
You have a good taste for music ! 👍🏴
And with that, Mark Renton had fallen in love.

Lol... totally ....brings Trainspotting and The Volcano night club right into my head
“Flatmates?! We’ll have to remember that one, won’t we!”
Choose life.
Proprio così. Come una canzone e una frase entrano nella storia. ..
Deborah Harry has always been the face of Blondie, but this song really shows the talent of the entire band and how far ahead of the curve they were at the time (and still are in my opinion). On top of all that, the production and mix just put it over the top. Love this song!
I agree ,they were well ahead of a lot of groups for originality and skill .🇺🇲🏴😃🎸👍
If someone compiled a Top 100 songs with the best instrumental break sections...this song would surely make the Top 10🤔
Rapture is still considered the first mainstream rap song.
Maybe this is Ashes to Ashes is about a bright flash & no smoking pistol.❤z
No other decade can beat the 80s and that's a fact
This is a song from another dimension - pure energy!
Group played such a huge part in music history
Honoring and remembering Gia Carangi on today, 34 years of her passing. We love you sweet Gia.
I love how this song just comes in on a high note. It doesn't build up.
Hell yeah, right into it from the start
It reverses the norms & leaves on a low note.
@@GeneralGeorgeS.PattonJr. ooh very true! I love it
Wasn't meant to be a real song. They made it because they had to. But you know ..... they are talented so even they messing about came out real good !

Blondie has been one of my favorite bands since I was a child. I remember when the song Atomic was first released, it had a huge impact on me and has been one of my favorite songs among other songs by Blondie. ❤

It’s a crime that Michelle Pfieffer hasn’t played her yet
Yes! Great point
Still awesome. Thanks to Vice City for offering a window into breathtaking 80s culture. Truly the best time ever, albeit already passed
This is a big part of why the music industry was sooooo good back in the late 70s.
Still my favorite Blondie song. Goosebumps galore!
DEFINITELY their best song and they have so many great tracks.

Great song... But I STILL love DREAMING more...🥰

One of my favorite punk songs ever! Best heard by blasting on large speakers 😂😂😂. All hail the early 80s!!
Just some trivia the supermodel Gia was in this video. She was the one with brunette hair and goggles on. RIP Gia!! 🙏🙏🙏
Excellent musicians, some incredible hooks and structure. Bass is so good in this. Greatest front woman in history? Yep!
And while we are crazy about Debbie and want to see her and hear her she goes no ! stands back lets the band play ! because they make good music ! It's not a backup band ! :)
Hard to argue the point.
If this song had been written in the internet age it would have 1 billion views. Still sounds fresh.
3:27 to the end...heaven must be missing an angel!
this word "fresh" we never heard this in the 70s or 80s ,fresh has a meaning that it will eventually go stale .im sorry this applies to todays music only .
Lmao that's what I said in 2010
A bassline that cool will ALWAYS sound fresh - not too disco not too rock just straddling the divide like few others before since. Shout out to Miss You though.
Happy birthday to debbie harry 78 today 1st July and still singing ❤🎉🤩😊😎🤗
I’ve found blonde and she’s in my head. Can’t get enough of her music 🎉😂😂😂😂

This is an absolute tune that they should definitely still play in clubs today.
They do.
The beat in this song timeless!!
There are no clubs. ♣
There will be no dancing in slavelandia
I think with a good remix it could be in any chart of the world
My favourite Blondie hit track. They dominated the charts throughout 1979-80 during my last year of high school. They were a breath of fresh air for those (like myself) who were getting a little tired of disco….
One of my favourite Blondie songs this is when bands were real and had talent ❤
Was so good seeing them in Melbourne last Saturday.
This song was the highlight.
Punk 🤝 disco.
Perfect
There will never be another Blondie or Debbie Harry in any lifetime.

What a song, what a video.
I'm here because of GTA VICE CITY. I hear this song on radio in gta cars. ❤❤
Parents with young children NEED to expose their children to music like this.
Trying to tell my cousin and his wife to play Blondie for their baby daughter because even from the ultrasound, she is a punk rock queen.
well said ! a nuclear like this is so super !
Well, I guess I should've specified the ages. I mean, kids that are old enough to speak should hear this and other genres from the past (before they started sanitizing creativity in the arts), and the parents should also answer any questions the kids have about the music and/or music videos. For humanity's sake, expose your children to music by talented musicians!!!
My dad has blondies greatest hits in his car. Grew up with them all.
you bet
The 80's..... the best 10 years of my life. When I was young, stoned and still in love with this world..
Naw it was only 5 years... the 80s only lasted until 1985.
so emo for a boomer
At 52 y/o must say you hit the nail rite on the head
Ive been a Blondie fan since the start. This song is one of their best and still sounds fresh today. My heart goes out to Chris with his personal challenges. Lovely guy. My mates used to say I only liked the music because I was in love with Debbie Harry. Thats only part true. I think shes one of the most striking women ever, yet I equally love all the genres of music they produced and Chris and Debbies writing has stood the test of time. All the classics can still be heard on the radio, background music to tv shows and at music events today. Timeless. 😊
Bravissimo, condivido in pieno!
who listened this in GTA Vice City
I love her robot dancing, Debbie Harry is such a magnetic and charismatic performer, you can't ignore her
I believe Madonna and Kylie have also seen this video because they have danced that way.
She'd have been a great Pris in Blade Runner!
@@desertrose1226 According to her autobiography, Debbie was actually supposed to be in Blade Runner, but her record company wouldn't let her do it.
Her "robotic" dancing is the stiffest, lamest, cheesiest and downright terrible dance probably ever seen, yet incredibly mesmerising and a joy to watch! What a polarity.
Blondie is a group.
Saw Blondie in concert in MD in 1978. Managed to get good seats. I swear she was looking at me the whole show. I was in love. After every other song she went backstage and quickly changed her dress and hairstyle. You had to be there. It was amazing.

One of my favorite Blondie tunes. Interesting fact: the chick with the sunglasses who is shown dancing in the audience is the supermodel Gia. She was very famous at the time and her life was turned into a movie starring a young Angelina Jolie. Unfortunately she went from superstardom to heroin addiction and became one of the first women to die of AIDS during the 1980's epidemic.
