All the 'disco glam' was as much Blondie as the 'punk roots', which any real fan should know was never really true. They made the music they wanted to make. All you fools can take you punk rock guide book and stick it up your there with your heads.

As a young 22 year old, a woman, and a big music fan, this woman and band has paved the way for me. Everything about Debbie had/sex appeal, everything about her, what a performer! As a lover of music and a young girl, blondie are everything and the best musical group I have loved and listened to. My love for this band is beyond limits. The day we lose Deb will be a tragic day, what a woman.

Great observation! It's no secret that many female lead singers in recent years try to outdo each other by seeing who can wear less and less clothing, showing more and more skin -- thinking they are really "cutting edge" by doing so -- yet there was Debbie. oozing sexuality in baggy clothing, completely covered.

Misfit Toys used to cover it. Taking a cue from Debbie the singer would put on shades, throw a beach towel over her shoulder and yell 'is everybody ready to hang ten?' The drummer was classic rock and refused to play the 'new music' in 1985 until he heard Clem then he was all for it.

Debbie Harry is completely unique and unmatchable, as a fan of Britney Spears, Madonna, you name it, no one will ever come close to the sheer talent and performer Debbie was and still is. Debbie Harry is the reason I have chased my music, played my guitar and sung songs. She is everything, she has been for the last 40 odd years, she paved the way for every woman in music today, whether she knows that or now. I cannot express the respect, gratitude and love I have for Debbie, she's changed the game, and it will forever be different.

@@brando7266 Drumming (and music) is not about doing one particular song. Neither Ringo nor Clem were studio drummers like Hal Blaine & Co. But many studio drummers said Ringo's style of drumming was not that easy to emulate - mostly because he was a left-handed drummer playing a right-hand drum kit. I never heard that Clem was hard to emulate.

Woah now, Jimmy, Frank and Nigel need to be recognized as well. Only the band members know why they aren’t currently in the band but that doesn’t mean the 6 of them were BLONDIE 1978-1982 at their peak and all 6 were perfect for the band and made absolute gold

One thing I love about this band, besides Debbie and the durmmer, the bass lines are always amazing. The whole band was amazing, but something about the bass and drums made the band sit on that base and propelled the high notes.

God think about what most music was in 1977…..the. A band like Blondie ( and I emphasize band because so often Blondie and Deborah Harry are used interchangeably.. they are a great tight band and I love them all) comes out of the NY scene … who knows what the crowd thought of them? I was so sad when they reunited without Destri, Nigel and the guitarist… they look so young….
I maintain that 1977-1980 had the most amazing music that spawned so may genres

Fantastic! When they appeared on the scene I was in High School. What a breath of fresh air compared to the mainstream crap that was around then. Worked a Security detail for them a few years back. I was not disappointed to see them behinds the scenes, unlike most of the acts I've worked with.

Two friends of mine and I met Debra and Chris after their set opening for The Kinks in July of 1978 to arrange an interview for a local radio station.
Very nice they were, Chris had their stage togs in a grocery bag and we exchanged pleasantries, took a couple of photos, got our ticket stubs autographed and got their room number.
Turns out their manager had swapped rooms with the band and had not been informed of the Clem Burke arranged interview.
Doubtful he was even after he tuned a radio to the station's frequency and we identified the on-air program. Interview cancelled.
If you run across some photos online from that year of the band hanging out around an empty hotel pool that's the place they were staying.
Coincidentally, cattycornered from a punk club where I DJ'd.
