Thank you so much for that concise and informative explanation. I’ve not used an instant pot previously and am currently house sitting, so I am feeling much more confident about using it now. 👍🏻
Oh wow, thanks a lot. I just bought a new unused one online and I wasn’t sure if I was missing a piece for the float valve and you were the only video explaining what it looks like and does. Well done sir!
I thought the same thing! I went through the box again, looking for something I might have missed. By the time I found this video I had a horrible headache.
Don't forget it takes time to warm up in the pressure cooker mode per the manual. So plan for anywhere from 5 min to 40. Found that out when prepping a meal before work.
Omg yall! This video saved my life today....I was so nervous...today is my very 1st day cooking beans... (Great Northern) I put all the fixings....added my smoked hock and prayed.....I can't wait to see how it's going to look & taste...😂🙌🏾
I’m new to this. Should the steam be coming out during the pressure cooking cycle? For me after the pin is pushed up the steam then starts to come out. Is this normal during the pressure cooking?
THANK YOU so much for this video. I am a newbie and this video answered many of my questions.. My instant pot takes 20 mins to come to pressure and it releases the steam just like you showed a few mins before pressuring. I did not realize it took 20 mins to come to pressure as everyone says 10 mins and many are confused about the steam release before sealing.. THANK YOU> you covered all my questions about this.. :)
Excellent video! Very thorough; good pace and not too fast; covers procedural elements in a logical order. This made me feel confident when using my Instant Pot for the first time. Thank you!
Hi Victor! You can use the Manual or Pressure Cook buttons to program your Instant Pot for Pressure Cooking, then use the Less/Normal/More options to fine-tune from there. We hope this helps!
Thank you so much! I got an instant pot for Christmas and I'm making soup today and the instructions say to use the soup button but adjust the pressure to high and I couldn't figure out how to do it, lol.
Great information. I received my Instant Pot recently. Yesterday I tried to make some brown rice. I made sure that the steam release was set to Sealing, and the Float Valve was able to move up and down. However the float valve never moved up to seal the pot. The steam came out during the whole cooking session. After the time was up, I let the cooker release steam naturally. When I opened it up, my rice was undercooked and the inner pot slightly scorched. Please help me troubleshoot the problem, I really want to love the Instapot.
Hina Khan Whenever the steam comes out of mine I gently bang 1-2 times on the lid til it seals and the steam stops coming out, That seems to work and things don't scorch when its sealed
Thank you so much this helped me out a lot I'm new to having one of these babies and I'm actually enjoying myself only had it for about 2 to 3 days still learning I was just wondering why it took so long to start pressure cooking another question is my machine doesn't make any noise is it broken or am I doing something wrong please help and thank you
The amount of time to come to pressure is dependent upon how much is in it and the temp of the ingredients. In order for pressure to be achieved, the liquid has to boil to create steam to create pressure. That takes a little bit of time. They generally don't make much noise while cooking, so as long as your meal is cooking, you're ok!
Great video. I was confused when I first got this and didn't have much success. I realized I was just setting time on my timer at home vs on the insta pot..which didn't include the "warm up" time. No wonder why it didn't work!
Thank you! Clear instructions without a sped up person and distracting monotonous background music. The cavalier and sloppy attitude of some of these videos on cooking are annoying so this is a welcome change!
This was an awesome educational video on how to use an Instant Pot. You answered every question I had. Great visuals. Great information. Thank you so much!
You can use the Instant Pot for what's known as "water boil canning". However, please ensure that you do not pressure can. Pressure canning requires a minimum 15psi, whereas most of our models are only rated up to 12 psi. This means that it does not reach pressures for safe canning. We currently have two Instant Pots that are capable of pressure canning. The 6 quart Max model and the 6 quart Pro Plus model. For more information regarding these models, please visit the Instant Brands website or contact our Customer Care team. www.instanthome.com/
ON the LUX60, is the "adjust" pressure option functional in "manual" mode? It doesn't seem to work for me and the owners manual isn't clear on this. Also not clear in the video
Need some help with the "manual mode", since the user manual was confusing. I plug in the pot, I choose manual, set my pressure and cooking time. I then place on lid and lock. The timer counts down... but it's only after the timer expires that the pot switches to "ON". Does that mean it begins cooking now? All I really want to do is set a cooking time, and have the pot reach appropriate pressure and cook for that specified time. What's the best way to do this? Thanks
A while after the ON was displayed on screen, it switched to "30" and seems to be counting down. The weird thing is I had originally set 00:20. Why is it counting down from 30 minutes? Is my unit defective? (I literally just bought it.)
Thanks for the question, 6996katmom! The "5:20" time is a reference to our founder, Robert Wang. When spoken aloud, this sounds like the phrase "I Love You" in Mandarin, Wang's native language. Regarding preparing bone broth in your Instant Pot Lux, we have a great recipe which includes cook time on our Instant Brands Connect app! To download the Instant Brands Connect app from the Apple App Store, please use this link: apps.apple.com/app/id1487494580 If you're on an Android device, you can visit this page instead: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.instantbrands.app&hl=en_US&gl=US
Stupid question that is not answered anywhere - when the display says 0:20 is that 20 SECONDS or 20 MINUTES?? Please include this information in the next version of the owners manual.
You can do steam/water bath canning of high acid foods only, no pressure canning. See the following links for directions and safety procedures. facebook.com/groups/InstantPotCommunity/permalink/1617915518302430/nchfp.uga.edu/publications/publications_usda.html nchfp.uga.edu/publications/nchfp/factsheets/electric_cookers.html
I still need instructions on how to put it together. I see a little plastic cup and metal piece. Please demonstrate all the loose pieces that came in the pot and put it together. Thanks
+Sheriel E-S Dear sheriel, I am a boy in china, i would like to understand more about this product , could you please tell me more,? is it good to use?
Sheriel thank you for your reply, but I wanna a 220v voltage with the smart pot, seems not available, I only found 220v DUO 60 instant pot on UK amazon, is it right?
What in the world is congee? I would have appreciated an explanation on the other programs such as soup. Didn't see anything in the book. Has anyone tried the recipe book available on Amazon? I hope it is better than the recipes in the book.
Marjorie Crawford Congee is an Asian rice porridge (soup) thick consistency You can add different meats during the cooking process to add flavor or just eat it plain
I have an instant pot lux 60 v3 and when i press meat stew it shows zero so what's up with that? Shouldn't 30 at least show up? I ended up pressing meat stew then the plus to increase time from 0 to 30
I've been always curious about the LO feature in the button when it warms the food. Does anyone know what LO stands for or what it supposed to be? I mean why the pot doesn't show "WARM" in the button, lol sorry for my stupid question but I'm curious :P
Can I control this thing with my iphone ? Is there an app for it? It will be super nice to turn it on before I get home, so the food will be ready! I guess I can use the timer function. The next InstantPot better have WiFI built in. I just ordered mine from Amazon.
I love to use the Instant Pot Pressure Cooker to make hamburgers that are juicy and delicious. It's easy if you know the technique. And amazingly, there is no cleanup! LOVE IT!
When cook time has finished, the timer will change over to L00:00 and count up, giving you a timer to show how long it's been done. It's not LO, it's L followed by zeros.
Well, I've had my IP for some time. After watching these videos, I may have the courage to actually use it. I had a stove top pressure cooker (full of beets) explode all over my kitchen years ago, and have been afraid to use one since. It's good to know there's no way that could happen with the IP.
If the screen reads burn, the pot cannot come to pressure. Common reasons for this are not enough liquid, your liquid is too thick or something is stuck or scorched on the bottom.

Had mine two years before I found this site. Great explanation, and now I am enjoying my Instant Pot.
I hardly use my instant pot after 4 years of getting it this instructions give me confidence
This website is so much easier than the manual that comes with it
You right Sharon
Sure is!!! I was so frustrated with this thing😡
The manual is terrible. I'm commenting 6 years later. I just got one and it's STILL terrible. Totally lost.
*Yes! Yes! Yes!* ♥️
@@lucysnowe31 8 years same here😂😭

Thank you for your excellent way of explaining all the different stages!! I greatly appreciate it!
Glad it was helpful!

I’m new to this. Should the steam be coming out during the pressure cooking cycle? For me after the pin is pushed up the steam then starts to come out. Is this normal during the pressure cooking?
Make sure your seal is seated properly. A small amount of steam coming form the release valve is normal from time to time as the pot adjusts pressure.
Literally... this guys talks so slow, you could cook a stew during the video.
I watch any slow speaker videos at 1.5x speed.
Hey he did it so people could follow along
You explained more clearly than other sites. Finally understand. TY!

This tut is EXACTLY what I was looking for, including the float valve note. I'm new to pressure cooking, and nervous. Thx so much!!
This video was extremly helpful and informative. Much Thanks!
Thank you for this IP information, how do I find the high pressure program?
Thank You
Hi Victor! You can use the Manual or Pressure Cook buttons to program your Instant Pot for Pressure Cooking, then use the Less/Normal/More options to fine-tune from there. We hope this helps!
Loved your instructions. Straight to the point.
Please explain in more detail about the Time Settings. There's 4 times slots. Are the two on the right side for Minutes and on the left for HOURS?
The 2 to the left of the colon are for hours, and the two on the right of the colon are for minutes...just like a digital clock.
Excellent instructions. The manual doesn't appropriately cover this particular and important aspect. Many thanks!!
Thanks for such a helpful video. Calm voice and great info! We’ll be watching your other videos too!
I prefer the calm confident voice too.
Thanks you ,very clear to understand
Isn't the pressure strength and heat intensity the same for all the buttons (including manual) which he is refering to?
I am wondering the same thing

Pressure cook and manual are the same thing.

The Lux only cooks on high pressure. It does not have a low pressure option.

Greater tutorial. So much easier to follow that book.
using it for the first time and I'm nervous 😨😵 never used a pressure cooker before...
+Sheriel E-S Dear sheriel, I am a boy in china, i would like to understand more about this product , could you please tell me more,? is it good to use?
+傅国平 yes I've had it for 3 months now and love it. :) very easy to use.
Sheriel thank you for your reply,
but I wanna a 220v voltage with the smart pot, seems not available, I only found 220v DUO 60 instant pot on UK amazon, is it right?
where can i get 220v voltage with the smart pot
hi sorry for the late reply but unfortunately i have no idea. my husband bought it through amazon. maybe just buy a converter.
I don’t have the option Poultry !! I have only Meat/stew !! If i need to cook chicken what should i do?? I have different one i think?
You can use the meat button, or pressure cook.
What in the world is congee? I would have appreciated an explanation on the other programs such as soup. Didn't see anything in the book. Has anyone tried the recipe book available on Amazon? I hope it is better than the recipes in the book.
Marjorie Crawford
Congee is an Asian rice porridge (soup) thick consistency
You can add different meats during the cooking process to add flavor or just eat it plain
What does it say on the lack lid of my lux? I can't read it
I can't make the time buttons work.
I don't see any way it is working when I push meat/stew button???
Help!
Not sure what you are doing, but all you do is hit the cook function and use the plus/minus buttons to change the time.
I have an instant pot lux 60 v3 and when i press meat stew it shows zero so what's up with that? Shouldn't 30 at least show up? I ended up pressing meat stew then the plus to increase time from 0 to 30
That's all you need to do! The pot will remember the last time you set it for, so if you need a different amount of time next time, just adjust...
I can't get my Instant Pot to go to low pressure on manual setting. Is there a trick to it, is my Instant Pot defective, or is that normal?
What model do you have? If it is a Duo, you have a pressure level button. If it is a Lux, you only have high pressure.
I've been always curious about the LO feature in the button when it warms the food. Does anyone know what LO stands for or what it supposed to be? I mean why the pot doesn't show "WARM" in the button, lol sorry for my stupid question but I'm curious :P
Hello, how is the lid's rubber ring seal maintained? With my old cooker it required greasing up first which was awful to do.
Can you use a small cast iron vessel in it or would it rust it?
No, it's not recommended.
when you lock the lid is it supposed to be tight , no up and down play cause mine wiggles
only when it's up to pressure...
The timer for the iplux is different from this.
I can’t get the + or - or adjust buttons to work. I’ve only used manual mode and I’m trying to adjust for chicken. Help!?
Can I control this thing with my iphone ? Is there an app for it? It will be super nice to turn it on before I get home, so the food will be ready! I guess I can use the timer function.
The next InstantPot better have WiFI built in.
I just ordered mine from Amazon.
there's a bluetooth-enabled one, but it costs about $100 more (at least on Amazon)
How to change “low, normal, high”. Modes?
If your pot has an adjust button, use that. If it doesn't, you just press the cook button you are using multiple times to scroll through.
Why does my instant pot always say on when I put it on pressure mode?
The pot will display "on" until it reaches full pressure, at which time it will switch over to the time and count down.
Thank you for asking this! LOL ! And thank you Instant Pot for replying 😂
Where is the website?
instantpot.com/
Their is no “manual” button on the one I just bought on Amazon.
Pressure cook is the same button, just a new name.
I love to use the Instant Pot Pressure Cooker to make hamburgers that are juicy and delicious. It's easy if you know the technique. And amazingly, there is no cleanup! LOVE IT!
So, are you going to share this secret technique?
Oh thank you so much. I have learn more from you then anything or anyone.
Thank you for all this information!
Soooo helpful! Thank you for this!
What does “LO:” mean on time readout?
When cook time has finished, the timer will change over to L00:00 and count up, giving you a timer to show how long it's been done. It's not LO, it's L followed by zeros.
Wonderful video,very helpful thank you!
Using mine for first time . Iam using slow cooking is timer suppose to blink not the time

Dependiendo de la cantidad de líquido y la cantidad en la cocina, tomará una cantidad diferente de tiempo para llegar a la presión.

Why oh why is no manuel included??
All manuals can be found here, just choose your model: instantpot.com/english-manuals/
Excellent tutorial!
Thank you so much for this tutorial.
Thanks. Very clearly presented.
what it means when you burn on the screen??
If the screen reads burn, the pot cannot come to pressure. Common reasons for this are not enough liquid, your liquid is too thick or something is stuck or scorched on the bottom.

Ok, but where is the button to turn it off???
Thanks for the question, Dealy! You can find the Keep Warm/Cancel button in the bottom right corner of the display on this Lux model.
So clear..thank you!
Great video and very helpful.
My instant pot has a slow cook button though???
Yes, all Instant Pots can also be used as slow cookers.
What about the water you must ad. Without it the pot doesn't work. Must have liquids.
this pot is amazing , I like it
Thanks so much !!!its helps
