i've been looking into ceramic keycaps recently, (specifically cerakey's, i don't know if any other company makes ceramic keycaps) and the clearance issue has been fixed (people were complaining about loos keycaps like you, or the ceramic stems scraping on the switch housing) with the V2 keycaps which now have a PBT stem, so they basically handle like any other keycap (except they are much heavier of course)
Cerakey does seem to be the only company making ceramic keycaps, and this is my video about the V2's if you want to check it out th-cam.com/video/sxY71W7rXs8/w-d-xo.html
I've had the opposite problem with my set. Rather than being too loose to fit on to switches, they are too tight. The extremely tight tolerance combined with the ceramic material causes material to painfully *shave off* of switches and stabilizers in order to fit. After mounting my ceramic keycaps, neither the switches nor stabilizers were compatible with any of the abs or pbt keycaps I had. It's painful to see something so hyped up to face such a fatal issue.
@@shibekeebs I do have the issue of some keys being too tight, but I completely forgot to mention it because most of keys were too loose. I'm fairly certain when I was building my mountain for the first time I just didn't use the tight keys because the keys are blank so I was like, whatever. I would try force breaking and tape modding it, but I would rather just move on to other keyboards. I have a lot I want to talk about on this channel and it's been taking me too long to make videos as is lol
@@TrashBuilds I've been there! Sometimes it's better to move on than to try to constantly salvage a poor sounding board. I'd be interested to see what other boards you have in your collection, especially after seeing that alumizu afa combo
I don't have anything else as crazy as that, but there's a lot I'm excited to finally build once the group buys are fulfilled. As well as some unique ideas I want to eventually design myself.
Pc is the best plate for thoccy builds. Why not try to force-break your mountain? and replace the case foam with some polyfill (non-static). MT3 is the 3rd best for thoccy keycaps 2nd SA 1st Ceramic. I would suggest that You tape mod and pe foam mod your keyboard if you still want that thoccy sound profile, though with that alu plate it wouldn't be as thoccy but still good enough. You could also replace the oilkings because they are in the middle spectrum in terms of sounds, maybe replace them with everglide aqua kings or gateron ink black v2s as they are low pitched switches.
Thanks for the advice but at this point I'd rather just move on from the mountain. Don't want to go through the trouble of having a custom plate made and at this point if I want to use an Alice the AM AFA is just better. (I also have something else cool coming as well)
@@TrashBuilds No problem! I could totally see why lol, this keyboard is such a headache, that's why I barely hear about it, atleast it's your first keyboard. I'll go watch your AM AFA video, you seem to really like it, though I prefer the Type-K.

also, I'd try to use the force break mod on the mountain. I've found that it helps tons with pingy keyboards.

In the new V2 set they use plastic stems instead of ceramic. Should fix the problem!
cerakeys V1?
Yes. You can see my thoughts on the V2's here th-cam.com/video/sxY71W7rXs8/w-d-xo.html
