    ありがとうみさ先生。As someone who feels like a perpetual beginner I always find your N5/N4 content super clear and useful. Also just a note to say I love how you're using a font that doesn't join up the line in さ, as a newbie the joined up line always makes me have to concentrate harder to read, especially as most fonts have the line separate 🙂

    Listening to Misa sensei explain that もったいない (Mottainai) means wasteful, I realised for the first time that the song もったいないとらんど (Mottainai lando / Mottai Night Land) is a play on words between night land and waste land. Meanwhile ひく (pull, catch a cold) I had heard to mean “wear trousers/pants”. Thinking about it, you pull trousers up to put them on, so it makes perfect sense. Thank you, Misa sensei !

      @@moonlitee I've only ever focused on grammar 1 time, and so I've forgotten most of it within a week of learning it. I used Wanikani for 6 months to learn Kanji and vocab, I learned a few particles from a Japanese grammar book, and I've just picked up a lot of Japanese from various sources, like Duolingo, music, TH-cam, etc. So no, I haven't ever took learning it seriously because I learn it as a hobby and not for any important reason. It was enjoyable and very cathartic using what I know to communicate with the Japanese when I went to Japan in 2019 though.

    Thank you Misa-sensei for the wonderful lesson. I would love to learn more about verbs and it hope you would explain the use of verb stems. I'm confused because sometimes I see they are used as nouns like 滞り、怒りの鉄拳、and so on, I wonder if any verbs can be used that way or those above are special cases only.

    • @神の毛-q7w
      @神の毛-q7w 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      僕は高校生ですけど今まででその言葉使ったことがありません。滞るは人や物が順調(じゅんちょう)に進まないという意味 たとえば、交通(こうつう)が滞るは渋滞(じゅうたい)か何かで車の行き来が難しいこと 他には作業(さぎょう)が滞るだと作業が進まないという意味です

      The form you mention is generally used for changing some verbs into nouns, but especially for creating compound verbs, for example 'tachiyomi', meaning 'standing around browsing books without buying' is a combination of 'tatsu' and 'yomu', changing both to the 2nd row -i form to combine them AND create a noun! (The verb 'tachiyomu', to browse without buying, also exists.)

    • @jaycee330
      @jaycee330 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not all verbs are nominalized like this, but most verbs can be used like this to combine with other verbs, as mentioned above.

      I try to do a bit everyday but I don't think most people can spare that much time for it honestly. I think if you're in school you might have a better time with learning, and formal classes would likely catapult your learning speed over self study by a significant amount.
      But I think learning JP isn't that common in a lot of countries so self study is likely where a lot of people are at if you're doing it online.
      So don't feel bad about it.

      It's just the difference between the formal and plain forms of the past negative
      formal past negative : (verb)-i stem + masen(negative formal) + deshita (past formal)
      plain past negative: (verb)-a stem + na (negative) + katta (past)
      Remember: You need the -i stem for masu forms (negative or positive), and -a stem for plain negative forms.
