Thank you for this video! It just saved me a lot of money. All I need to do is get the gaskets and do it myself instead of wasting money at the mechanic. Thanks man!
Right on. I’ll be doing mine with spark plugs and new injectors on my 10’ I pray to god my head bolts are updated 😅 if not, I’ll be getting some slk black series buckets. I plan to one day get the vrp supercharger.
Good Vid man, well done. Ill just add, for those of us with the plastic covers, they can crack as well as the gasket. Be sure to check those as well - im speaking from experience!
How do you know if you have plastic covers? I have a 2014 C63 P31 package not sure if I need to replace just the gasket or the cover too. Plz help thanks
M156 engines all develop oil leaks after 60k miles. Mine were leaking a little bit. If they leak a lot, oil will drip on the exhaust manifold and start to smoke a little.
did the cam cover that practically mates with the valve cover at the front of the engine end up leaking after replacing only cylinder head cover gasket? ive seen this leak at the eyebrow where it meets with the valve cover after just doing the head cover gasket... Im curious to see how common it is to fail or succeed with other peoples experience.
Hello and thank you for the video. I have c63 507 edition with 40,000 km the car started to blow white smoke when I turn it on then smoke disappears. Smoke comes back when I'm stopping at traffic light and start to move (car is hot not cold) also white smoke puff then then its gone. Spoke to my mechanic he reckons it could be the cylinder valve seal or head gasket. I'm really puzzled as the car has only 40,000 km what u guys reckon the problem is? Would love to hear second opinion before I take it anywhere
Hi Eyad, smoke it coming out of the passenger side (uk) and smells like burning oil. i have ordered the gasket for it hopefully fixing the issue. car has 40k miles on it. do you know if this is a common problem, worried after reading some forms it can potentially be the rocker cover it self? also thanks for the video!
Very likely not installed properly in the factory and was leaking or defective. It's not that hard to mess up and doesn't really mean anything alarming.
@@eyadm147 okay, I've just received my "updated" plastic valve covers for my 07 ml63, I read online somewhere to use rtv in the corners of the covers, was just checking to confirm as I am about to do the job, I really appreciate you getting back to me sir, thank you!
I have just purchased 2013 model with 61,000 miles and when driving it sprays oil from the engine but does not when ticking over, would this gasket cause this? Thanks
Eyad M its hard to see ive been told possibly lower sump or top sump lower being an easy fix upper meaning the engine needs to be removed, the gasket in the video above has also been mentioned, it dosent make sence that its spraying oil its not just a drip
If its the valve cover gaskets and its "spraying" - then you will see smoke coming out of the engine bay and it will smell like burnt oil. Does yours do that?

@@zaryobi 9 months late but it's easy to tell. One is plastic and the other is metal.... Hint: plastic is black, metal is as in the video.
Excellent Thanks. Larry Hernandez
Great job
Thank you for this Video !!!
nice vid
Nice! Cheers
fantastic video! Do you need to use any rtv or is the gasket fine by itself? And are you required to replace the valve cover bolts?
Gasket by itself. No RTV...
You can reuse the bolts. Don't over torque!
Ummm 🤔 drivers side is 3 times as difficult to remove, harness has zero give even with bracket removed and ties cut.
Drivers side sucks hard for sure.
Good day, did u replace gasket because you where having issues?..why did u perform this ,thxs.

Thank you for responding quickly. I was just curious. I have a 2010 E63 , with 110.000 kms . You are right and I do keep an eye on it also. Thxs again
@@giuseppepippoizzo6506 check the sides of the covers. With a glove or a napkin. If they are black all over they are leaking.

Interesting comment. I am wanting to replace mine cover soon but am worried about other leaks I may cause...

Where does the white smoke come from? The engine bay or the exhaust pipe?
@@eyadm147 hello Eyad, it comes from the exhaust mate

Check your oil immediately and make sure its not "milky"

Yes it's common, most likely the valve cover gaskets
Hi saw on carfax replaced valve cover gasket when mb 63 amg was brand new , do you have any idea why ???? Thanks
Very likely not installed properly in the factory and was leaking or defective. It's not that hard to mess up and doesn't really mean anything alarming.
Hey, is rtv sealant needed for the valve covers or the cam covers, if so where and how much? Thanks!
No, you can buy the gasket. Its a precut gasket. I wouldn't use RTV or try to make a gasket

@@SK-tn2qn my only recommendation would be to take your time and be careful when reinstalling the covers as the gasket can kink easily
Usually I do my own work on my mercs but I cbf with the hassle now so going to pay the dealer $2k to do it.

Yes - my engine number was after the change (serial #)

You forgot to replace the baffle on the head 4 on each head a common mistaken oil will leak from the new valve gasket. 15 bucks each.
