I rather think that the good Captain Kidd was stitched up by the powers of the day. I am sure his hidden millions were retrieved by his fellow pirates back in the day. An interesting story guys and well told.

Hey Stuart, there is indeed a large conspiracy theory around it all, Bellamont was a sneaky git i bet, thanks for watching mate

spot on Stuart, after his capture and death, I believe that his former crew would have returned and dug it up.

I imagine some crew members survived who knew where any blunder was buried. just because he offered 100,000 pounds doesn't prove he had it. Was he aware the Gardiners Island loot had been dug up?

What if QM/Ad.Prize was hidden by Van der Huehl after Kidd was in custody and the whereabouts of the Ad. Prize was falsely reported(or the wreck in Dominican Rep. is misidentified)and is actually stripped and sunk in the mud of Oak Island swamp?Oak Island is just a short sail from NY,but also the QM was flying French colors which would have been less suspicious in those waters where French ships were common. The swamp anomaly is roughly 200ft and looks(ground scan)like a ship`s hull lying buried in over 10-20 ft of swamp muck.If it is a wooden ship in the swamp and is that big,I am willing to bet it`s the 400 ton vessel judging by the size without knowing the ships measurements, only it`s unloaded displacement.

Yeah I’m pretty sure most of it was accounted for by lord Bellemont and the admiralty

I believe Captain Kidd the Invincible was the only pirate to ever actually burry treasure. Most are just myths. There probably were some others but they aren't known.

The mutiny spoke of here was against a famous French captain. He, Culliford and a few other Englishmen were privateering with them before war broke out. When it did they promptly mutinied over to the British with the ship in tow while his French captain and fellow sailors were laying siege to an English fort in the Caribbean not far from Navis.

Bellomont was someone you'd expect to see on Monty Python. What an idiot he was and, broke as usual, saw Kidd as his meal ticket as long as he was able to keep his reputation.
