  • One of the things that can drive your desire to eat is your emotions. And boy, can these ever make you hungry! You may use food and emotional eating to help you deal with something that is going on below the surface - which totally makes sense because food is inherently rewarding. It can feel healing to seek out foo when we feel something emotional, but long-term, it doesn't get at the root of what's going on with our emotions.
    In this video, we cover how emotions can drive you appetite, AND I offer ten different strategies for helping to free yourself from emotional eating an get back to enjoying food and your life more!

    I came across this video by chance, and I'm incredibly grateful that I did. So much of what you discussed in the video deeply resonated with me. At 29 years old, it wasn't until a few years ago that I realized I've been an emotional eater my entire life. I've struggled with my weight for most of my life, constantly going through periods of weight gain and weight loss.
    The primary message I'm taking away from this video is my desire to rediscover my true self and start enjoying life to the fullest. I'm determined to free up the mental space that has been consumed by thoughts of food, body image, and eating schedules. It's time to eliminate all that mental clutter, as it's mentally draining.
    Diana, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude. Your videos are incredibly informative and never fail to prompt self-reflection. They inspire me to make the necessary changes so I can become the best version of myself that I aspire to be. Thank you!

    Dear Diana. First, THANKS for this video. I've been watching many videos related with this topic, and yours is by far the best. Can't understand why it is not on top on search list, and why it hasn't more than 1M views. The way you approach the subject is very empathetic, going deep to the root of the problem; not talking about some superficial tips. Maybe you can add some tags to the title or description, to make the video reach more searches. Again: thank you.

    thank u sm. i was stress-tidying my room after this pretty big binge, i have been trying to recover for MONTHS now. i started emotional eating back in quarantine and even though i lost the weight, i still stress and emotional eat 2-3 times a week. my weight doesnt fluctate but the mental weight is way heavier. now that i know the science behind it, i think, believe and know that i deserve to get better.

    Fantastic video. Thank you.
    I would think that food, unlike drugs, is a “feel good” mechanism that goes back to babyhood and childhood, that the act of eating equals comfort that an infant gets when nursing from its mother and later in infancy when being spoon fed, ie nurtured by its parent. Drugs ultimately give a person a feeling of wellbeing but the nurturing aspect is missing.

    • @DianaBedoya
      @DianaBedoya  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Interesting perspective! Thanks for sharing. I can definitely see how nurturing food can feel - and we do often use it as a way to celebrate and show love ❤️

    ” because we want to escape the present moment.” 💡aha 👆🏽When I am chronically fatigued I turn to food - crunchy food or sometimes chocolate but not always chocolate. I can take it or leave it.

      Ouff - that fact took me so long to see for myself. The trigger for me has often been when I am bored and I just want something to entertain me!

      Hi Shweta. There are many things that can potentially promote weight loss - the main rule is that to promote it, you have to eat fewer calories than you burn. Chewing more can potentially help promote weight loss if it helps you eat slower. Eating slower may promote weight loss because you may end up eating less because you give your brain more time to feel full before eating too much (it takes about 20 minutes for the brain to receive the ‘just ate’ message)
      The thing is, you have to find strategies that fit in to your lifestyle and that personally work for you (while not compromising your mental/social wellbeing)
      I do have a video on eating slower that you can look up if you want more information on that.
      Best wishes on your path! ❤️
