A Group 3pm session.
First Trackday after the winter break. And oh man that little track makes you work a big bike. Set my PB at 1:24.6 on a 2020 S1000 RR.

Sick videos, came here after your guide to this track. Curious -- what's your GoPro settings? And how did you attach it to the S1000? Footage is super smooth, wondering if you had a gimbal or if that's just the Hero9 software?
Thanks ! It's all done in software. Check out my latest videos on my channel where I further improved it with the Max lens. And yeah I just sticky mounted it to the tank of the bike.
I'm a bit confused, I just did my first track day on West, and FunTrackDayz recommended time was 1:30 t0 1:15 for b group and 1:15 and under for A group. But that seems absurd?
Hehe now I'm not particularly fast around West , wrong bike, wrong setup etc. But yes the latest numbers from Fun Track Days are a lot too ambitious for all tracks and don't really help to form better groups imho.
Yea, it seems like you are absolutely hustling here, passing *most* everyone in A group with ease. I was averaging like 1:34's and I'm pretty sure no one in B group today was doing sub 1:30 haha. I couldn't imagine a 1:15 or less, that's gotta be like race pace
@@Shankower musta been a typo. i know a few guys who claim they've done 1:15. i believe it, but dammmn thats easily top 10 expert afm kinda race pace.
@@SpeedyCorky I thought about it some more and I'm thinking they erroneously used recommended times from the config without the infield? I'd imagine those lap times are much faster with the long straight instead, but I've never ran it that way
@@Shankower ah yeah, that make more sense. i dont know infield times, but its for sure a shorter lap by a good 10 seconds at least

1000 there is honestly a bit frustrating as you can barely ever open the throttle . It’s good fitness but not what the bike is made for.
@@MonoMoto well yeah you have to be very judicious with the throttle around there, and the track mostly rewards corner speed and braking prowess, but there are still a couple of places where the track rewards horsepower. As an R3 rider, I'm quite well aware of where they are, lol.
@@AaronCohn84 hehe very true ! It's nice that the track also rewards very "flickable" and light steering bikes. Imho a naked bike with wide handlebars and lots of low end grunt is probably very quick around West.
@@MonoMoto For sure light steering helps but you can still haul ass around there on a standard sportbike. I got passed by a guy riding an R6, and he said he was doing 1:18's. There was another guy on a GSXR-1000 who was going even faster.
@@AaronCohn84 for sure ! the sky is the limit - it's just a lot of work on the big bike and I'm lazy ;)
