    “Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans.” With moderate/severe M.E most schedules don’t work well as it’s hard to predict when, how bad or for how long you will be ill for. I can only “be strict” for a few things a week & even that doesn’t always work. Also the universe does not revolve around us we have to adapt to other people, the world, be there for dependents to an extent. Also if there is no one else to do laundry or we can’t afford help then sometimes laundry has to be done. It’s finding the balance but with such a fluctuating condition it won’t be achieved anywhere near perfect. Can just do the best we can. Just don’t want people feeling more depressed & frustrated when they make this schedule & inevitably struggle. I really hate activity diaries I can never remember everything & can’t cope with continually recording stuff I can’t do it consistently. Benefits can come from knowing & setting your priorities & what helps you of course just have to be realistic and flexible and prioritise based on what your health or energy is on that day or hour. Some days just existing is enough, getting to the bathroom, drinking & eating something. Your worth is not measured by what you do but in what you are. Take Care.

      Thank u for this post. I'm in total agreement. I find it frustrating and stressful to track. Besides, I know intuitively what drains my energy. Everything drains my energy other than rest and sleep! And I certainly know my priorities. And my priorities drain my energy as well. I live alone and have no one to to pick up the slack, to support me. Yes, I have friends and they have their own issues and lives. Also I've had a very close friend pass, so I feel more alone. I do whatever I can to keep depression at bay - reminding myself to be kind to myself, to be compassionate.

      My frustration decreased after I realized that the bulk of my symptoms happened during my period. Now i don’t schedule anything for that week

    Thank you very much Raelan! I've shared this with my Long Covid support group. Thanks for all you do - I've gone from mild/moderate ME/CFS with almost constant crashing - to no crashes and bringing in exercise, all thanks to you and your channel! You provide so much excellent advice - and most important - you provide hope!

    Raelan! Thank you SO much for creating this course. I’m currently an in-patient at a rehabilitation facility after a BIG crash brought on by long COVID + a routine outpatient GI procedure. I’ve been in the hospital for over a month. This course will be so helpful once I’m discharged and working on rebuilding my strength and recovery. Thank you for all of the work that you do to continue to educate and spread awareness of ME/CFS. 🙏🏻💜

    Thank you Raelan, for everything you are doing for us. Thanks to your channel and after spending the last two years thinking I had cracked pacing. But was completely on the wrong path. I've now reached out to Pamela Rose who was a guest on your channel some considerable time ago. Both of these ladies are amazing at what they do in terms of help, support and knowledge..so please if you are like me who a few days ago was at complete breaking point. Don't continue to suffer in silence. Reach out for that much needed support. It's time to stop chasing symptoms and being stuck in a vicious cycle of trying to get symptoms under control. And remember ladies that suffer with Chronic fatigue. PMS, periods, as well as the perimenopause and menopause can contribute to exacerbated chronic fatigue symptoms..

    I signed up! I've done pacing before and I'm still doing it, but not so conscious anymore and I feel like my recovery has plateaued. There are also things I want to do more off (like exercise), but the day and my energy seem to get away from me. Time for a reset I think!

    Unfortunately going to work takes up most of my energy (coworker tension, getting up early, stress, physical exertion) but realistically there's nothing much I can do about that!

      If you do think that pacing is something that can be helpful for you, you can start small, with tracking one day. I've done it for 3 days about 9 months ago and had the help of an occupational therapist to figure out what to eliminate or simplify and that was really helpful. I was also so overwhelmed by it, but once I started tracking, it wasn't so bad. It's also not about perfection, just general activities. For example: I have small kids and the activities I wrote down concerning them were: "caretaking" "playing inside" and "playing outside", because that made sense for me. I hope this helps a bit. Good luck on your journey!

    Raelan, what is fully recovered mean to you? I have come a cross of people who claim they are healed from cfs, but then comes out that they are just on a path of keeping their base level energy stable through the day that no symptoms or crash will come over. And they are good with dealing the symptoms, but the main thing I found out with some of these people that they cannot still do the same activities and intensities like they did before the illness and being only in the age of late 20's. How is with you, can you say that you are 100% your old self in the meaning of physical body or more like I mentioned here? Thank you!

    • @RaelanAgle
      @RaelanAgle  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello! It took some time to fully get here but I now have my full energy and health back. There is no base level energy to work about. I feel the same as I did pre ME/CFS thankfully!

    Can you please tell me any difference between Cfs and depression fatigue?
    Many things cause fatigue "Anxiety, Depression,Cfs, Fibromyalgia" how can we differentiate between them? Because there is no test for them?

    • @RaelanAgle
      @RaelanAgle  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a great question, one I unfortunately don't have the answer for. you are right - there seems to be overlap. From the people I've talked to, with CFS the depression comes later as a result of dealing with the illness. Perhaps with fatigue caused by depression the depression comes first - this is just my thoughts.

    I know this is opposite what is advised to people with cfs/me. But pacing didnt work for me. It is not a major thing in my recovery. Pacing for me means doing everything but moderatly and schedualing in me-time. The more I paced myself the worse i got. So now i do everythinf i want. I do feel a little bit more symptoms but the go away right after.
