    Fun fact: Junji Ito’s Frankenstein is an adaptation of the original 1817 Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. Based on how the masked man reviewed Ito’s adaptation you’d think that Ito wrote it when in fact it was actually a faithful adaption of the original novel.

    • @MICOXD
      @MICOXD ปีที่แล้ว +30

    I'll be honest.
    Junji Ito is my first venture into actual horror. I was the type of kid who was too scared to pick up a Goosebumps book. The Jimmy Neutron movie scared me. I had nightmares after seeing the opening cutscene of Disney's Epic Mickey.
    I've been horrified of it. I had a nightmare after reading Remina the second time, though I can't remember what it was. But I keep going back to that shelf in the library, hoping to find more, despite everything.
    His works are my gateway into horror. And honestly, I really needed that. I've always had an interest in horror in the way of thinking it's interesting-- I love watching stuff like FoundFlix and Dead Meat-- but his stuff is the first time I've actually went and consumed any horror on my own, with nothing else there to temper it. Wild.

    He's the reason why I fell in love with Japanese Horror manga. I love his stories especially the one-shots and I spent all of my highschool days searching the internet for scanlations of his mangas (it's hard to find a physical copy of his in my country and it's extremely expensive). I love all of his works except one: I hated "Tomie" with a passion. lol I really cannot stand that story so much that I don't read it at all.
    My all time favorites are the Vol.3 "Flesh-Colored Horror", especially the story "Headless Sculptures", Vol.15 "Lovesick Dead" and his "Cat Diary: Yon & Mu" manga is really cute too. Him and Kazuo Umezu has similar styles in their artworks (funfact: Junji is a fan of Kazuo), I love how much detail he puts in each artwork for the stories that it borders between horrifying and beauty.
    I hope you can cover "Portus" by Jun Abe, "Manhole" by Tetsuya Tsutsui, Kazuo Umezo or Kago Shintaro, though the latter might get the vid banned though (his style is horror gore w/ a hint of pr0n, he has decent stories but some are just down right 🤢).
    Anyways, I love the topic! Looking forward to your next video. Thank you!❤️

    Ms. Fuchi has to be one of the scariest characters I've ever come across since I've read a lot of Mr. Itos work.

    I have to commend you for going through trauma and constant paranoia. But I'm pretty sure you'll be scared of leaving your back open from now on. Junji Ito got that devil in him.
