Finally someone that liked Starving Anonymous. Yeah it got really chaotic around at the end but I really liked the creature designs and the concept (especially the reveal of what the humans and aliens relationship is truly about). On a side note, there's a sequel for it out right now. One of the few mangas that I caught up in only 2 sittings even though having more than 100 chapters and the only manga that me upset to my stomach. I was legit feeling sick after reading it. I suggest reading Hikaru ga shinda natsu (or The summer Hikaru died). Its a horror/suspense manga with some bl elements about a boy, Yoshiki, who discovers that something has taken over the body and appearance of his best friend (and person he had feelings for), Hikaru, and decide he'd rather live with this strange being than let go of Hikaru and fully accept he is gone.
Ive seen some people describe it as a sort of mix of Junji Ito and Oyasumi Punpun in terms of style, and while I've only read some of Junji Ito and havent finished Punpun, im inclined to agree with what I've read. It's still on going, only at around its 3rd volume, but its a really good story with some great art imo.

Seeds of anxiety reminds me of a manga called 100 stories of my own death. It also has a short horror story pre chapter, however in this one, the stories are told by a young boy, who always says a few things on the beginning and end of the chapter. However, slowly you start noticing that something is going on with that boy and his family and it slowly shows you a larger story on top of the short ones. It isn´t amazing, but I´d recommend you give it a try

“Hideout” should be made into a film since the narrative runs so smoothly that it’s basically a screenplay. Since it’s almost summer I recommend both Eiji Otsuka’s and Housui Yamazaki’s Mail and Kurosagi Corpse Delivery titles for ghostly fun (Eiji Otsuka also helped out Shou Tajima on MPD-Psycho btw.)
If you’re looking for something like “Blood on the Tracks” I suggest Misomisou by Oshikiri Rensuke, Dokumushi by Yazu Michio if you want absolute depravity with some surprisingly good narrative reveals, and if you just want to binge on something classic you’ll be eating EXTREMELY well with the cyberpunk hellscapes of Tsutomu Nihei’s BLAME!.

2:10 =Didn't that manga's mangaka live in a haunted studio and that affected their work? I remember reading a news article that he'll stop for a while to recuperate..

Seeing one of my favorite mangas cover on the thumbnail? Seeing “not junji ito” in the title? SUCH A BREATH OF FRESH AIR TO A HORROR MANGA FAN (who doesn’t just know junji).

So I was on this manga site, reading Seeds of Anxiety, when I got recommended these strange manga... by Kago Shintaro. There were two stories that centered around the main characters "collecting" things. They are both sexual and graphic and were disturbing. The first one is of a girl obsessively collecting from her crush, before killing girls he had slept with to "collect" the parts of them he probably touched, before fantasizing what she would do if he ever touched her.... The other one is of a man collecting photos of certain sexual encounters. It starts off with normal encounters until he branches out into mutilating and killing people. I don't know why I made it as far as I did in that one because Jesus Christ it was messed up. He had a few other stories that I did read that didn't disturb me as much, but those two just really stood out

One horror manga that is very good and very unkown is Hanako and the Terror of Allegory or the japanese name Hanako to Gūwa no Terā. It is a short manga, I think is 17 or 27 chapter.
I recommend this to anyone who like this genre

10:27 - But... Okay, IMO, not longer human is a total tragedy. The horror themes come from Ito's art. Ito is wonderful at what he does, but I truly feel that the essence of No Longer Human was overshadowed due to Ito's stellar art

Immediately after hearing you mention Starving Anonymous I went and read all 7 volumes in one sitting... gotta say, as horrible as it was I couldn't stop reading. It's a really insane story with a surprising amount of heart in places if you can get past some of the hugely triggering subjects brought up in it including but not limited to SA, Cannibalism, Children losing their parents etc.
Only thing is I wish they stopped using one character's bisexuality so much towards the beginning as a joke, they calm down with it but its a little outdated in that bit.

i couldn’t get through starving anonymous, i’ll admit it: i’m a big wuss when it comes to horror like this but i always manage to finish a series bc i need to know where the plot goes, but i think i’d b better off not knowing for this series 😭😭

Anyone familiar with the manga where it is gory and creepy with different story per chapter? I think its around 100+ chapters. Sample stories I remember are babies are being reproduce as food and another is a peeping tom was converted to a monster living under toilets

You should check out Higurashi if you haven't already. It's really bloated imo, but every arc builds on the last and it ends up being one of the best pieces of horror manga/anime/VN out there..
