If ever there was a cautionary song of the nature of the relationship between artist and audience, and how it can evolve with gained wisdom into a more healthy beauty, then this is it. A host of golden daffodils need all the clouds that they can get.
Did you feel a third axis there in the lyrics? I am not saying God. But perhaps an awareness of “otherness” that Damon detects and fears. If so, while it’s good to turn away from evil, there’s an even more powerful direction yet.
@@GT380man I feel that he is intimating that we are all reflections of one another, and with that realisation the ego becomes sublimated into a greater consciousness, an "otherness" as you succinctly put it. The blend of guitar layers, bass, drums and the vocal harmonies are exceptional. Blur just keep on progressing and evolving.
God I fucking love this band.
“Oh, glorious world (glorious)
Oh, potent waves, valleys gone wild (potent waves)
Connect us to love (us to love)
And keep us peaceful for a while (for a while)”
Gosh. Just. Gosh. 💗💗💗
I was hoping Damon would be more demonstrably in touch, yet he’s darned close in this song. There are real insights.
“If you see darkness, look away”.
You can respond in that way.
I think it is better to align yourself to the light, if you can.
Never been a blur fan but this song is genius
So many comebacks by bands down the years. By far the best is Blur. Wonderful
This song feels like that is already a classic
I absolutely love every era of Blur.
Love this song, it's on repeat at the moment.
One of the most instantly likeable blur songs. The best writers get better as the years pass , you just know so much more
They're back and this is the best thing that could've happened to me. Thank you Blur, i will always love you💜
keep coming back to this .. tuuunnne , they never fail to deliver quality music .. sounds vintage but familiar
The first time i heard it i wasnt sure, but after a few listens it sounds as good as you would expect from Blur, it's a grower
It's pretty catchy right off the bat. You could say it's also a shower
ARE YOU BEING SERIOUS RIGHT NOW THERE IS NO WAY OMG IM LITERALLY SHAKING
The dream😊
Timeless sound
A song that is very catchy, that’s for sure. Always loved Blur, so many underrated hits
I've been listening to this song for the past month since it came out now and I am just so happy that Blur is releasing new music!
I thought that after The Magic Whip, that was it and there wouldn't be anymore. Looks like I was proved wrong! I absolutely love this along with previous works and finding out all the very underrated tracks from the deluxe albums that I've been discovering for the past year now.
I'm excited for the new album and even though I won't be able to fly to England and see Blur at the Wembley or anywhere else in Europe, I'll at least have the new album and the new memories I'll make with the songs. Glad to have you back, Blur! ❤
This song is so amazing
This lyric and music are profoundly beautiful. Poetry in motion. Thank you, Blur.
Heard this song for the first time this morning on the radio on my way to work. It instantly caught my attention! I will have to say I really, really like it. A LOT!!!
So at home it's pouring outside and our home has a huge power surge and lights are blowing and we are in complete darkness....so stressed and the electrician is only coming in the morning ....then I see this with what power I have left on my phone....and all my worries just faded away for that 4:03 of music by my favourite band...thank you Blur...love you guys...I was bummed I can't get a flight to the UK to see your show this year but this new album makes it up
Another breakup, another great album… Sadness and melancholy are key for beautiful creativity…
Omg so in love with this song, I'm turning 40 soon and maybe it's because I'm older or wiser but whatever it is music hasn't really called to me in a while. This song, it's just right, its got me excited for the album like I haven't been for anything musically in a long time. I wish I had my Philips Walkman for it!!!!
At 45 so good to feel like I was in my 20's. Blur nailed it with this song ❤️
I feel the same in my late 50's!
I love this song. It's so great to hear new music from Blur. Welcome back in 2023 and many greetings from Germany
Och Blur älskar dig
@@zeandiaz1791 how sweet🥹
Wow!!! it took me by surprise!!!
What a wonderful song!!!
Thank you so much for recording new music!!
Blur and Suede are active and great 30+ years on. A minor miracle, that.
I’ve been a blur fan since early high school. I’ve loved all their work very dearly. Glad to see new material will be out soon
Blur fan since 2001. I was 15 and lost someone so close.
If ever there was a cautionary song of the nature of the relationship between artist and audience, and how it can evolve with gained wisdom into a more healthy beauty, then this is it. A host of golden daffodils need all the clouds that they can get.
Poétique et subtil
Did you feel a third axis there in the lyrics?
I am not saying God. But perhaps an awareness of “otherness” that Damon detects and fears.
If so, while it’s good to turn away from evil, there’s an even more powerful direction yet.
@@GT380man I feel that he is intimating that we are all reflections of one another, and with that realisation the ego becomes sublimated into a greater consciousness, an "otherness" as you succinctly put it. I'm not sure that it's perceived from a source of fear, but I could well be wrong. I'm curious, please elucidate further.
Could be 18 all over again, this track is sublime, has the ability to make you feel a multitude of conflicting emotions all at the same time whilst leaving you knowing your listening to Blur at their most emphatically brilliant!
I love Blur.
One of the greatest bands ever.
It really, really, really did happen... a new Blur album! 😃😃😃
Big love from Korea!!
Never really listened to Blur, but man I can't stop listening to this song. Don't know why, but I really like it

Beautifully said mate!
"good russians" on the air..
This is fantastic, so happy to hear new music from you guys! What a great surprise!
Song 2, Girls & boys and Charmless Man are my favourite songs, but I've just looped this one for the past few weeks. Can't wait to see them on Sunday !!!
t's great to have more songs from you guys!!! Big fan since the 90s!!!!
Damon's voice has gotten better with age. There's so much life in it.
I NEEDED THIS!!! AFTER ALL THESE YEARS OF LISTENING TO THE SAME BLUR ALBUMS ITS GREAT TO HAVE NEW MUSIC FROM THEM!!! IN THE ANNOUNCEMENT VIDEO THEY ALL LOOK VERY HAPPY THANK YOU BLUR FOR COMING BACK!!! IM VERY EXCITED TO SEE YOU IN WEMBLY IN JULY
EDIT: I SAW YOU IN NEWCASTLE AND IT WAS GREAT!
8 years but worth the wait! 😊
