So, wacky idea for a new rule system in future installments. What if the hunters were also forced to start from a new save and collect their own items? I could see some interesting strategies develop from delegating a couple hunters to slowing Fire down while having others grab a bunch of items and get really strong. It would also take away some of the imbalance which emerges once the runner stockpiles a bunch of masks and offensive moves. The main thing that worries me is whether it’s too OP for hunters to have spells.
I normally like these videos for the mind games and jukes, but they were able to stay on him for the entire time and still couldn't get a kill. Fire taking them one after another like John Wick.
i love how refined fire runs are now. like, even though hunters used the map, he still won with twenty minutes left. also, can we get another speedruners vs titans? this was the best
I really enjoy the more tactical style of "speedrunner vs hunters" instead of: "DrEAm CoME HEre I wANT BLoOd!!!!!!!" Followed by terrified screaming, repeated for an hour. Instead, this is actually a little cool to listen to, as the opponents form strategies and try to read where you are going.
You’re a god in this video. Each hit practically kills them, and you fire off spells like crazy, you’re nail swings are perfectly timed with their dashes, and you are a complete badass, so much fun to watch.
Multiplayer idea: Abyss Climb Battle Royal Try to make pale king happy by proving yourself to be the most thoughtless vessel by attacking anyone who comes in your path to ascension.
i think this type of game will be so much better in silksong. i can’t wait to see hornet chasing after another hornet as the sprint, leap, and grapple all over the place. i think the large scale of the map along with hornet’s crazy movement will expand on this idea in such a good way. and i think the new crest system will be so cool as the hunter could get different crests allowing better attacks and movement to outplay the hunters and i am so excited to see how the tools interact with the hunters and how they will effect the fighting. but for now this was a blast to watch!
If you try to die at salubra to preform shade skip, but the hunters kill you in the process, does that count as a shade skip or does that take 5 minutes off? Also, does shade skip by dying to hunters lose time? For example if you try to die by hunters at crossroads-to-fungal room
That's kind of a gray area to be honest. If I'm already damage tanking to Shade Skip, I wouldn't count that as a time loss, but if they're killing me, I can't run away and call it an attempt at shade skipping. I also generally don't shade skip often in these games anyway because it's really tough with hunters around.

Okay, things I have noticed in Fire's usual routing: - don't assume that just because there is dark room, that Fire will go there later (than you expect). Sometimes he might have already purchased lantern or have done it in the dark. - if he has suddenly disappeared, make sure there is at least one person by soul sanctum. Especially if that place is free, he will go there. - generally he will avoid areas with four hunters (especially early game) unless there is no other choice. This often changes his strategy and route. Strategy wise, it would be best to force him to reroute and readapt his run. This stalls for time but unfortunately will make it harder to track. - he would generally go with get False knight and Venge-Spirit, mothwing cloak and then claw. There might be an exception to this but that's the basic gist. Afterwards he would generally go for Lantern to dark room CP (he might memorize or forget who knows) or go for other upgrades like masks and nails. - best to stall him at Teacher's Archives, it used to be easier to do it at Watchers Knights but then there was walls to keep other fighters out. He generally would clear out Beast Den in order to avoid these bottleneck circumstances.
Occasional damaging charms he may go for in different BugHunts include Spore Shroom, Nailmasters Glory (actually not sure of this one), and Thorns of Agony. Generally would stick to Shaman's Stone
the map miscommunication is a happy accident cus nothing is funnier than thinking about the moments when fire was trying to sneak around/go unexpected places and him being like HOW DO THEY KNOW IM HERE
Another great video as always fire, but an idea I had was if you gave yourself like 2 and a half hours as well as the hunters more lifelines but you have to get every skill. However, you don't tell the hunters this, you just tell them that there is an extra requirement. This would make it really interesting in that if the hunters figured out that you have to get all skills, that could make the meta of the game a lot more complicated with more places to defend late-game.
Honestly, i think the accidental cheating might have hurt them more than helped. Most hunters try to get ahead, but these guys were constantly chasing him, meaning they never really ambushed him or trapped him the way some hunters have.
it's funny cause these were some of the most interesting chases you've had but it put a lot of the quick plays and deception on the back burner, fun video overall

Just watching Fireb0rn makes me better at HK I'm not even joking just watching these speedrunner vs hunters videos has made me start to incorporate nail arts and spells more into my combat without even have noticing at first
I always disliked that the hunters don't have much to do. So I thought that maybe hunters have to pay Essence for Maptime and such things wich they can earn normally and they would have like a starting amount. Otherwise really love this mode and I am looking forward to more speedruners vs hunters!
Hunters usually don't have access to the map. They used it here due to a communication error regarding the rules, but they are meant to only be allowed to open the map once each. Also hunters can't get essence since there are no mobs on their end. They only see fire and their essence is meant to be used on dreamgate uses, which are also limited by their starting essence pool
True ending Speedrun would be very interesting as there are many more key spots to defend. Regarding the balance changes, no I think bench healing should be kept.
i am always happy to find a new video from you your like dream but for hollow knights and i found you actually as a suggestion from youtube cause dream subscribers watch your videos so it suggested me to your channel and it helps pass the time until dream is back from hiatus and makes more videos in a few months from now
Video idea get a bunch of speedruners and make it a free for all where they have to beat the game and sabotage each other and not die so basically no hunter all speedruners fighting each other till one beats the hollow knight
i find it hilarious how he sais i bet hes going to dirtmouth as hes going to dirtmouth, and then sais i bet hes going to crossroads as fire realises he made a mistake.
Idea: 2v6 or something similar. 2 speed runners go against a swarm of hunters who each have 1 health. The speed runners are in their own vc, and their geo, abilities, charms, etc. are all synced. Could make for some great gameplay. Would be hard to balance though.
A super interesting element to add would be if Hunters were allowed to DG, but they had to get the essence for it themselves! If bosses only dropped enough essence for one or two DG uses, so they would have to take time out of hunting the runner down to gather enough to use! Then they could, ideally, use the gate a few times before the final boss, but they would have to weigh the uses against the time it takes them to kill each dream boss!
I was wondering. Why so many cuts? I will say the Hunter team did a great job staying on you, but I think that is because they were abusing the map and constantly knew where to find you.

I love how the hunters literally narrated what he was doing by accident
This might be one of the most satisfying hunter vs speed runner yet, Fire really was an unstoppable force of nature in this one
This episode is hella asmr! I find myself coming back to it just for the snacky sounds of keyboard presses.
These speedrunner vs hunter videos are always entertaining
I normally like these videos for the mind games and jukes, but they were able to stay on him for the entire time and still couldn't get a kill. Fire taking them one after another like John Wick.
i love how refined fire runs are now. like, even though hunters used the map, he still won with twenty minutes left.
also, can we get another speedruners vs titans? this was the best
Because the hunters only had 3 masks lol
@@Firefly256 wasn't it that way in previous videos as well? that hunters only had three
@@keasy6410 they get an extra one after the speedrunner gets dash, but since fire didn’t give the rules to the hunters they didn’t know
Picking up that thorns of agony was a god gamer move
I really enjoy the more tactical style of "speedrunner vs hunters" instead of:
"DrEAm CoME HEre I wANT BLoOd!!!!!!!" Followed by terrified screaming,
repeated for an hour.
Instead, this is actually a little cool to listen to, as the opponents form strategies and try to read where you are going.
Yeah, the first speedrunner vs hunter videos were more interesting imo
Sad Metal Gear music followed by Kirby upbeat music is so funny XD
Loved the video as I always do!
I wish fire would post the unedited versions of these, it would be fun to see the full process!
You’re a god in this video. Each hit practically kills them, and you fire off spells like crazy, you’re nail swings are perfectly timed with their dashes, and you are a complete badass, so much fun to watch.
From the sounds of it, their keyboards are also fighting for survival!
Multiplayer idea: Abyss Climb Battle Royal
Try to make pale king happy by proving yourself to be the most thoughtless vessel by attacking anyone who comes in your path to ascension.
There is two type of speedrunner vs hunter THKs:
1) I had 10/20/30 mins so I could try x times
2) F:I did it
H: What?!
F: I finished the game
i think this type of game will be so much better in silksong. i can’t wait to see hornet chasing after another hornet as the sprint, leap, and grapple all over the place. i think the large scale of the map along with hornet’s crazy movement will expand on this idea in such a good way. and i think the new crest system will be so cool as the hunter could get different crests allowing better attacks and movement to outplay the hunters and i am so excited to see how the tools interact with the hunters and how they will effect the fighting. but for now this was a blast to watch!
I also generally don't shade skip often in these games anyway because it's really tough with hunters around.
had me at the edge of my seat-- both parties did so well!

Okay, things I have noticed in Fire's usual routing:
- don't assume that just because there is dark room, that Fire will go there later (than you expect).
Generally would stick to Shaman's Stone
the map miscommunication is a happy accident cus nothing is funnier than thinking about the moments when fire was trying to sneak around/go unexpected places and him being like HOW DO THEY KNOW IM HERE
*litteraly me when someone's teaming:
*Ultra mode activate*
Another great video as always fire, but an idea I had was if you gave yourself like 2 and a half hours as well as the hunters more lifelines but you have to get every skill. However, you don't tell the hunters this, you just tell them that there is an extra requirement. This would make it really interesting in that if the hunters figured out that you have to get all skills, that could make the meta of the game a lot more complicated with more places to defend late-game.
I love that he still won despite them checking the map freely. lol
3:40 I finally managed to do that Vengefly pogo trick to get to the grub yesterday.
What if... Gruzfather and Grubmother?
Funny and crazy episode 😂
Honestly, i think the accidental cheating might have hurt them more than helped. Most hunters try to get ahead, but these guys were constantly chasing him, meaning they never really ambushed him or trapped him the way some hunters have.
The fact that this is still fun to watch is incredible keep up the great work
it's funny cause these were some of the most interesting chases you've had but it put a lot of the quick plays and deception on the back burner, fun video overall
these are my favorite kinds of videos! I haven't actually beaten Hollow Knight yet myself so I always skip the ending so THK fight is new, but I love watching these vids.
This speedrunner vs hunter series is soo addicting to watch! More please :)
fun video! I used to shy away from speedrunner vs hunters videos but now I realize they are pretty fun
HOLY CRAP, I JUST WATCHED THE LAST ONE AND WAS WONDERING WHERE THE NEW ONE IS, GREAT TIMING!
I AM SO EXCITED!
amazing plays all around again, and wonderful music choice! fear factory is a banger, lol
17:04 nah, that's absolutely insane.
Fire forgets level
Hunter: "I think he's just trying to duck with me"
Cutscene thorns kill is kinda crazy
Just watching Fireb0rn makes me better at HK I'm not even joking just watching these speedrunner vs hunters videos has made me start to incorporate nail arts and spells more into my combat without even have noticing at first
Thank you fire for bringing joy to my life!
32:30
Ah yes my favorite boss music
*Popstar*
It’s always fun to see what new tactics fire uses in his speed runner vids
7:08 perfectly timed with the music
This run was so crazy. GG for the hunters tho, they tried their best
the aggressive keyboard clicks are so funny XD makes these all the more entertaining
This series is so good!
Can't believe you called the poor grubs filthy creatures
*1lifeline each*
Also them: on map the entire game
The trick at 20:03 was so sick.
This is the most stressful speedruner vs hunters, hats off to you fire
20:00 that was one hell of a juke
i am always happy to find a new video from you your like dream but for hollow knights and i found you actually as a suggestion from youtube cause dream subscribers watch your videos so it suggested me to your channel and it helps pass the time until dream is back from hiatus and makes more videos in a few months from now
Video idea get a bunch of speedruners and make it a free for all where they have to beat the game and sabotage each other and not die so basically no hunter all speedruners fighting each other till one beats the hollow knight
i love how can tell whenever bert does a wall jump because he literally just punches his keyboard
i find it hilarious how he sais i bet hes going to dirtmouth as hes going to dirtmouth, and then sais i bet hes going to crossroads as fire realises he made a mistake.
I love all your videos but this has to be my favorite series you do!
I was watching the randomizer randomizer and have been refreshing the page all day for this vid
Jumpscare from acid pool at 7:09 was fun
Try doing this with a randomizer
Sounds entertaining
I was wondering. Why so many cuts? I will say the Hunter team did a great job staying on you, but I think that is because they were abusing the map and constantly knew where to find you.
These are my favorite and looks really fun. But I'm nowhere near as knowledge about the game as you guys. I just beat the Radiance yesterday 😂
Great video, consistently the best content on this channel
Thorns charm might need to have its notch cost increased for pvp though xd
