As an American, i wholeheartedly agree. Sometimes the comedy doesn’t translate across the pond, but Rick has always had the ability to appeal to a wide audience. Carrell was good, don’t misunderstand, but it was in a completely different way. I honestly think Rainn’s Dwight portrayal really did a brilliant job of making the Michael character shine.

As a fellow Australian I am more disappointed in our entertainment industry. An that was a low bar to begin with. When you removed oversight from a production company this is what you get. No way this show would of got on air in the 90's well actually.... No. No I think maybe it wouldn't have.
It's not her fault lmao did you hear her dialogue? Filling in the shoes of Brent and Scott is pretty much impossible. There are way more than those two versions of the office, but nobody watches The Office (Myanmarr) cause it aint as good
To be fair, if they went down the route of parodying a girlboss and making her token brand of feminism cringe, it could actually be quite good, as it would be respectful while also being realistic and a clever twist on modern satire. Making the oddball character a woman could also work if they make her unique enough in her own way and not just a Dwight clone. But we all know it's going to be the safest possible route, and just a US office clone. What made the US office work is that they did their own thing with it and didn't steal the UK office's thunder. You could argue Parks and Recreation was an office clone in its first season, but the writers quickly learned they needed to go their own direction with it.

@@GareWorks Yeah.. But he ripped off Ray from when the wind blows.. WHISTLE.. Ray from when the whistle blows.
Now I know how the brits felt when the yanks did a spinoff.
Im not even a big fan of The Office, and i can see this reboot is terrible.
They're doing all this on purpose.
I clicked off the trailer after 5 seconds.
This is the worst Aussie-related thing since that break dancer, Raygun.
Nah, They should’ve just left it at Utopia being the Aussie version
how much money laundering all of the failing projects really are ?
Yes
99% of everything you see in pop "culture" is exactly that.
Why do you think there are so many production companies associated with the projects that are owned by directors, producers and actors.
The Rock has multiple companies.
Money laundering is like narcissism. The actual rate of narcissism is a fraction of one percent. Almost nobody knows a real narcissist. But almost everyone is convinced that they do. In the old days, we understood that a lot of things are just a waste of money and it's not necessary to have some kind of conspiracy about it. Not today.
Thats so wrong, how do people not have ideas for anything new so they ruin already existing ideas
Unless they've totally missed the point that the Michael character is supposed to be an insufferable buffoon with rare heart-of-gold moments, this tryhard feminist boss seems like a fine fulfillment of that tradition. They're lampooning this character. The only question is, are they AWARE that they're doing so?
You misspelt David
Self-awareness isn't a prerequisite for employment at the ABC, just nauseating pathological self-centredness.
Oh come on Bearing, the aboriginal bloke will be Toby from HR because he'll be the only voice of reason and you can't make a black dude anything other than smarter than everyone else. He will not be Oscar ffs. What is wrong with you?
Australia - your Penal Colony is showing
hahaha...penal
many of our forbearers were hung
@@lukefrahn8538 I guess they missed some
First we get the olympics breakdancing Australian, now this office reboot. Least the heat is off the Canadians for a while.
The UK office is the best version, and I will not be watching "The Office 2024", I do not put up with "the message" or "the lecture" of modern entertainment.
I couldn’t get into the American office, after watching the original it just seemed like a pale imitation.
@@uhtred7860 The American version started off very similar to the UK one. Very dry and deadpan humor. They really ramped up the whacky and quirky aspects to 11 after the first season.
@@uhtred7860 The first season (barring an episode or two) was trying to follow the UK version too closely, and it just didnt really work. After that, it started doing its own thing and was a lot better for it. It jumped the shark after Steve Carrell left though.
Australia has Utopia why does it need the Office?
How did Australian comedy go from Chris Lilley and Danger 5 to this? There was a time I would get excited whenever I got to see something from Australia here in the US (to the point I've watched every episode of Heartbreak High -- twice), and now it's just ruined.
This is what happens when you let the government take your guns.
Over 5 millions guns in Australia, more than any time in our countries history. Please tell us how guns will fix a TV show?
My pfp is another great Aussie shitpost comedy.
Shouldn’t they all be Han Chinese?
Trump: Everything woke turns to shit.
Also trump: Give all your money to israel!
@@amalekedomite i honestly dont see the problem with that, also the money goes to other countries in the middle east too. like egypt, afghanistan and iraq. but you dont cry about that, only israel.
And, as in this case, woke turns good things into shit.
@@anton2417 Begone, cliptip.
Australia was always this fked.. you guys are just catching up
Parks and Rec did the girl boss really well. The thing is Pam in this is supposed to be lovable, and represent "realistic" expectations of how women look (PC culture cry babies need women on tv to be ugly)...which is ridiculous because the audience wont believe the relationship. Completely agree what you said about Dwight...it just doesnt work
The curly haired dude is supposed to be Toby is my guess. I love it, a discussion on the differences between American and Australian cringe. I'd love to be part of that! If Ray-Gun can get a break dancing degree, we should be able to get one in International Cringe Studies.
Yeah he seems to be the Tobey character with that dark web scene.
I'm completely clueless as to why they'd try to make him look like Ricky's character in Extras with that wig...
But HR is NEVER minority male lol
The "Message" is the death of everything good (and funny).
As a fellow Australian I am more disappointed in our entertainment industry. An that was a low bar to begin with. When you removed oversight from a production company this is what you get. No way this show would of got on air in the 90's well actually.... No. No I think maybe it wouldn't have.
The Office!
But Australian! And Women!
Feat. Ray Gun!! Yaaaaaay!
Writer one: I have this great new idea for a story never explored!
Writer two: to risky, let’s just rehash something that succeeded in the past.
Me and my father huge office fans, could only give it 5 minutes. Come on Aussies do better!
Nothing new in any way shape or form. Its very sad that the younger generation has no imagination.
No trust me most of the younger generation are sick of the woke crap too
0:11 seconds in and the main actress is already dropping the ball.
It's not her fault lmao did you hear her dialogue? Filling in the shoes of Brent and Scott is pretty much impossible. There are way more than those two versions of the office, but nobody watches The Office (Myanmarr) cause it aint as good
@@douggieharrison6913 whattttt? Does it have English captions? My next show!
@@jsbrads1 Ive seen the Office Chile
@@NZWarriors1995 was that good?
Id say "not bad" but I was watching in Spanish with no subtitles lol. But the acting isn't overdone unlike this Australian version.
Utopia is a great example of what could have been the Australian office. Still not as good as UK and US, but much better than this swill.
This is the worst thing that Australia has done since RAYGUN!
Look how they massacred my boy!
My Aussie cast (they can write the script)
Glen Robbins - the boss
Hugh Jackman - Dwight
Magda Szubanski - Phyllis
Margo Robbie - Angela
Peter Rowsthorne - John Krasinski
Mick Malloy - Kevin
Sam Pang - Oscar
Ben Kavalee - Ryan
Kitty Flannagan - Pam
Gina Riley - Meredith
Luke McGregor as Creed
What the hell happened to Aussies? Where did they go?
First, "Raygun".
Now, this.
_What happened to "Crocadile Dundee"?_
Thank you for demonstrating your vast knowledge of Australia

Hannah Gadsby wrote the scripts 😂
First breakdancing, now good television is there anything Australian can't ruin this year?
We don't like these clowns just as much as the rest of the world don't worry...
The PC culture is trying to make a PC culture appropriate version of the office which is DUMB because the lack of HR appropriateness is what made it funny in the first place..
Wait, Raygun stole Michael Scott's dance moves? So she was trolling us!
10 seconds in, and my guts already hurt from the cringe. The Office had lightning strike twice in the pre-woke era, with the very different but both good British and American versions. There was NO way it was going to strike a third time, many years later in this stupid age.
Tell me something that isn't shite in Australia these days .. we sold out long ago.
Don't get me wrong there's an absolute plethora of amazing artists, bands and musicians here they're just criminally underappreciated and have to go overseas to get anywhere in life because for some reason all we care about is Tay Tay and whatever other garbage is crammed into our collective gobs...
King gizzard just completed a huge massively successful run of US tour dates of the back of their self released 27th studio album but you turn on the TV here this morning (mistake I know, it was on at work ) , and who do you see but good ol Katy Perry, (Tay Tay the genius must have been on a little later). There's never a mention of any of our incredible talent... Get out there and see a show and support them if you get the chance ! 😊😊😊
Boy Swallows Universe was good until he grew up into a rich kid with abs
Stephen Merchant's eyes "bulge with imagined riches", but he might be disappointed.
You forgot when America tried to make The IT Crowd, or Red Dwarf. They just can't do it.
Red Dwarf was also an awesome book
I was gonna write this bastaditation of the original material reminded me of the failed IT crowd pilot episode, it's like a broken telephone in real life, except the result is not funny,
Also inbetweeners, skins and somehow Shameless but I think the US version went ok?
Don't forget Utopia.
@@heronoverdoseI liked US skins when it came out because I hadn’t seen the original yet. Once I did I understood the uproar lol
The issue here is when Steve Carell did cringe it was so over the top that everyone laughed because it was a caricature. It was super exaggerated and that is what made it funny. When she does cringe... we have all met that women. It's not a joke it is a prevalent existing mindset. When Steve says something I think what a dummy... when she says something I think Not this again no one cares go away.
The Office : Raygun Edition!
I really wish people could just let shows die. There is no reason to reboot office again. The UK and US shows were great and now they are over. Move on.
It is GARBAGE
If youre worried about this being an Australian thing that people are going to see...dont be.
Nobody will be seeing this.
