We did the 2018 RTR as well... ...and, that was plenty. Had a good time, staying with friends a bit away from the main camp. Still, too much of a crowd. Since then, I spend the holidays home in Michigan, with just Spring and Fall, in the Southwest. Heading back out in a couple weeks, good to be back on the road, glad I missed the crowd this year. 😉 --Mark

I am going to the same location I camped at last year. The 2018 RTR location :)
Meeting others is why I attend.
I may visit a seminar or two or the event site but that is not why I am going

Sounds great! Yes always have a plan. I like to say if plan "A" fails, skip plan "B" and go directly to plan "C".

I checked out Quartzfest. Seems pretty interesting! Love radios, not much into code.

    Good morning,
I like your style ,being straight forward.. .
I too, am originally from Colorado. I had been to the " early" rtr's, back starting in 2014 through '17. Your are spot on in your take( view) of the downward spiral of the rtr as a whole!!!
I have been a dweller since 2013 and am currently living abroad in Arizona. I hadn't returned to the rtr since 2016 event. A lot of people like ourselves, feel the same way you do about the " gathering".
Anyways, like your channel, and have subscribed. Maybe down the road, like to camp out, meetup when your out on the road.
Best of regards to you in taking care of your mom. I too, had to go back to Colorado to take care of parents in their final years to help out. Just hit the road again myself two years ago.
    Randy

Hi thanks Randy, Yes we all need to do what is required of us taking care of our parents. I'm originally from California, but resided in Colorado from 1999. First in the springs, then up up on my property near a town called Guffey. I would welcome a get together of like minded folk once I am able to do so in the future.

Sounds good. Just give me a heads in your plans or schedule. I am currently caretaking a private residence in Cornville,AZ. The job is temporary and expect it to end next spring. Helping owner with selling the house and ect.. until it's sold.
I expect to in Arizona mostly... possibly summer camping western slope of Colorado depending on what time of year this gig ends. Pretty loose plans. Not retired yet. Late 50's .. just picking up temporary work to fill in the gaps.
If your interested, keep my email address, keep in touch.

Look forward to more content from your channel.

I enjoyed the 2019 RTR because I chose to. I hear complaints about the numbers of people on site. Well I did live in a town with 12000 but knew a few and associated with maybe 25 with less than that as friends. If large crowds make you feel uncomfortable, don’t go. I’m at the RTR for seeing other people’s rigs and ideas, meeting my neighbors around me. Last year I met a 75 yr old man next to me who was wonderful, kind, and a lot of nomad wisdom. Like they say in nomad life “if you don’t like your neighbors move”. Like you’re video though.

RTR2020 will in reality be a convention at an event center. Rendezvous is no longer applicable. People will look for their own place of lodging. RIP, RTR 2020.

I agree, the RTR was originally proposed for community involvement by camping "together". I don't want to travel 15-20 miles to attend a remote seminar.

I'm up in the Rockies right now and heading down to the desert shortly. I am going to go to the Quartzite Parker area in January. I'm probably going to split my time between Scatton wash area where the RTR was last year to meet up with some folks that I met last year who are going to be in the area and Lake Havasu.
Last year was my first time at the RTR and I attended a lot of it be seminars everyday and found those helpful as I have not been out on the road for about 7 years and the nomad community I was used to for decades has changed a lot if the RTT was an accurate indication. I did find the atmosphere and environment not to my liking.
further, with the way they have set it up I think the people that need the RTR most are the ones that are going to suffer as they aren't going to have the gas money or the ability to travel back and forth every day. AND I do agree with you that attendance is going to be way down because at best I may only attend a day or two for only part of the day.
I wish you and your mom all the best.

Yes I would agree that first-time attendees get a lot out of it since a lot of information is all in one place to absorb. As you discovered from your first time that you met others and made connections. Often times that is the best learning one-on-one from others.I'm also not a big fan of traveling in large caravans , but I do think for some it would be a great learning experience. I've been twice to craggy wash outside of Lake Havasu City and really enjoy it. I find myself pushing back further and further as I can, however I'm limited with the 17 foot travel trailer that I now use. I have not yet had the pleasure of using it on the road, but someday and after the other improvements have been done such as the solar.
Thank you for your well wishes and have a safe journey and welcome to the warmer weather :-)

As you know I'm in Ehrenberg now and there's not that many here...was talking with a BLM Ranger from Havasu earlier this week who I have know for 7 years, and he said the BLM and Bob are sort of "on the outs" with each other! Plus, Quartzsite is a little tired of Bob....seeing as how the 2020 RTR has been severely shortened I see bigger changes coming!

My first impressions are, that I will likely not attend ... jury is still out. The seminars are less of an interest to me than the social contact. I'm not against the choices that probably needed to be made due to the size of the group. With that aspect of the event disrupted, I find a reduced interest in going. We shall see. 🖖✌️🤙☮️
