Can the balljoints in the lower control arms be pressed out and replaced? I have K-Mac camber bushings in my front lower control arms that are still new, yet my balljoints are going bad. I'd hate to have to toss the arms with new (and expensive) K-macs in them, and would rather just press out and replace the balljoints if possible. I'm not sure if the K-macs are reusable if pressed out. Not sure if they have the same one-time use crush feature like conventional bushings.

No, unfortunately the ball joints are not replaceable. I've never worked with K-Mac bushings before so I'm not sure if they can be installed multiple times. I know what you're talking about though, I've had good bushings that I removed from arms not install properly in other arms because they've already been "crushed". Looking at pictures of them online, the outer sleeve does look fairly robust (compared to an OE style bushing). They are also spherical joints? If so, the outer sleeve would be suitably rigid and I would suspect multiple installations would be possible. I would assume you are safe but again, I don't have direct experience with these specific bushings! Good luck!

for the middle tapered ones is there a way to see in what direction to press them out. Is the out a bigger diameter. is it measurable.

If you look closely at the bushing that’s in the arm you should be able to see which side has the chamfer, if you can’t tell on the one that’s in the arm it shouldn’t make a difference when you press it out of the arm, just MAKE SURE you go in chamfer side first when pressing in the new one! Otherwise it will end up looking like our bad one here lol

@@PBGarage thanks mate I going to get my strongest reading glasses before I decide which direction to press.

Another fellow motoza customer I see 🫡 thanks for the video. about to replace my front upper bushings in my b9 SQ since no one makes an aftermarket option yet.

Yes, ran a Motoza tune on a 1.8t for about 3 years, great tune and support. Not sure what else he tunes for these days. Good luck with the bushing replacement, always a nice feeling replacing a bunch of blown bushings!

You can rent mechanical presses from the auto parts store. I hear the most difficult stage is matching the press fittings correctly. Do these particular bushings require a hydraulic press?

You’ll need a press to insert the new bushings. You can remove the old ones without a press using various other techniques, but using a press is the easiest by far.

Where did you get the bushings?

Rockauto has many options to chose from.

600$ press? The press should be more like 250$ or less and the 4 upper bushings 5$/pc and the lowers about 20$/side so thus about 60$ in total.

Change your subfram bushings while your at it.
