  • In this video I fit a Scorpion half system to my E30 Touring. Not the easiest of jobs but the end result was well worth it - makes a great sound.

    You make it fit not cut the body of the car,,, apart from that good job

    • @user-ne8ub4gr4j
      @user-ne8ub4gr4j  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Trust me it would never have fit without me either trimming a half inch off the valance or hacking up my new exhaust system. It's very common for E30 exhaust systems to be poor fitting, particularly in the rear bumper area so it doesn't bother me. Looks much better now

      @@user-ne8ub4gr4j ok let me ask you how about if you had the m tech 1 or 2 bodykit ? You going to cut that i have mtech 1 and it was nightmare putting it on…you know the clamps size, Im after 2 of them?

    • @user-ne8ub4gr4j
      @user-ne8ub4gr4j  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I wouldn't cut an M Tech 1 or 2 body kit as they're pretty valuable. In that situation you may want to actually modify your exhaust to get it to fit. If you have a front and middle silencer setup, it may make it easier to get the angle right because the exhaust is split into 2 sections. Sorry, don't know the clamp sizes!

    No need to cut valance.the exhaust is out of line .😊 Advice, stop.look.think. everyone has been there especially me at times , thinking thinking it's a big problem or remanufacture. The car that BMW spent millions developing,the worst don't fit cos a bracket is bent or a after market zorst is 20degrees out ,I'll cut the body work up.....,stop look think , keep up the work keeping e30's alive and original. 👍👍👍👍

    Great video. I have a Magnaflow or something from a previous owner and it’s really boomy at idle and especially (unbearably) so at ~2-3k rpm when under load. I’m thinking of getting this scorpion to replace it as the current one is a single pipe system and I’d prefer the full dual pipe. How do you find this sounds at lower revs inside the car? It seems like it’s less boomy and more woofy if that makes sense?

    • @user-ne8ub4gr4j
      @user-ne8ub4gr4j  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Yeah the scorpion system definitely sounds less boomy than that. Inside the car it's really fairly quiet at idle, there's some slight resonance between 2-3k rpm but not really boomy in any sense. I find this system sounds great throughout the rev range. Driving at lower speeds its genuinely very quiet, only gets loud at around 5k rpm but it sounds great at that point in the rev range so I want to hear it! Yeah probably more of a howl with this system if you know what I mean.

      @@user-ne8ub4gr4j Awesome, thanks so much for the reply. I was looking into helmholtz resonators its that bad. But this seems like a good option if you can get the pipes lined up nice.

    I have an 87 325e with a single exhaust pipe, can I still install this Scorpion two-pipe half system just as easily or are there modifications needed? Thanks for videos

    • @user-ne8ub4gr4j
      @user-ne8ub4gr4j  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm afraid I couldn't say for sure but it will depend on whether you have twin pipes running from the manifold or not as this half system is twin pipes from the centre muffler. However I have a feeling that a 325e would have twin pipes from the manifold. May be easier to have a look underneath! Thanks for watching!

      Yeah I had the same issue with fitment, however none of the E30 exhausts ever seem to fit that well. I cut a little bit of my valance out to get it to fit
