    as a front end specialist for 20 yrs, the death wobble was always a puzzler...was it the stabilizer, was it too much caster, was it a loose/bad front end part???? but you know what, 90% it was the TIRES....either new tires or swap the backs to the front and the problems were solved.....it used to be a big deal with straight axle box trucks and pick ups with bigger tires but after all the fighting with suspension parts and stabilizers, the tires solved almost all of the issues....try telling a customer that his 400 dollar tires are junk but it usually took care of the issues....however, after watching this video, I believe this type of aftermarket item may cut down on the death shake until the tires go completely to crap so I think it is a good item to curb issues down the road a ways....great video....15-20 minutes on my rack (pit) to do that job

      I've got a pretty nasty shimmy after lifting my Jeep with a quality lift and putting 37" Falken Wildpeaks on. I've spent over $1000 on alignments and shops troubleshooting to only have them say, "everything looks good" or "your Jeep rides better than ours!" Waste of money, I hope this solves my problems.
      I want to swap wheels with someone for a day but I can't find anyone to do it, even with me paying them.

      My jeep had it bad for a while... I did everything and it was the panhard bar was off by 2".. once the axle was centered properly my wobble was fixed.
      The jeep should be able to drive without a stabilizer and not wobble.

    I dialed my 2018 Jl Steering in tight. First you need the TSB 08-074-20 then I did a Falcon Stabilizer, a steer smarts yeti tie rod, terraflex drag link and 4 terraflex control arms. It handled like it was on rails after.

    The factory mount and tie rod assembly is garbage replace it with steer smart aluminum tie rod assembly for strength.

    Installing this thing in about 30 minutes, after I finish these delicious waffles and bacon for breakfast. I'm hoping this gets rid of the really bad shimmy I have. Next things to replace will be ball joints, tie rod, and track bar.

    Do you have to raise the front wheel to😊 install this?

    It's very easy to strip the 3 bolts since they are red lock tight in! That was my hardest part. Oh and aligning the new bracket was a pita

    Question on this install. Does it require jacking the Jeep up at all, in this video it appears you did not. Thanks.

    • @johnwelch8562
      @johnwelch8562 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Factory height should require to jack up the passenger side a bit to access the top two axle bolts. If you're lifted you might not need to.

    Very nice. That JL had the appropriate Hex Flange Head Bolt? I guess so being a 2018. I ended up buying a Mopar 2016-2021 MPR6510774AA version for our '22 JL. Not sure if that was the right call yet but will follow up.

    • @lincolnmicrophonellc
      @lincolnmicrophonellc ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep, that bolt was needed as the one on our '22 had the longer hex flange section (is this a cost savings having to machine less of the bolt away?)

    The bracket doesn’t even line up with the holes. The factory bracket fits up perfectly. I almost stripped out the holes trying to get the bracket on. Finally gave up and put the stock stabilizer back on. Really disappointed.

      My bracket lined up perfectly. Build date on the shock was 6/2023 IIRC.

    Jeeps are bad about the death wobble. I had to install the best HD shock I could find to correct it. They are going to sell Millions of these and they are in much need. :)

    Death wobble is NEVER from the stabilizer 🙄 if a new stabilizer does the trick, you didn’t have death wobble to start with. But you definitely have some parts wearing out and just a matter of time before they show their face again. A stabilizer/dampener is just a bandaid.

  • @jenningsc001
    @jenningsc001 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    death wobble isn't caused by the stabilizer...

    question you adjusted the shaft to 12 turns, what about the top adjuster where should it be at how many turns

    • @deekum1627
      @deekum1627 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There is no top adjuster

    • @johnwelch8562
      @johnwelch8562 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @deekum is right. The reservoir "adjuster" is simply a cap to cover the schrader valve for the nitrogen.

    Do you need a setup for off-road and a diff for highway?

    • @Shoptoolreviews
      @Shoptoolreviews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's easy to change the setting, by just rotating the knob. You can have a setting for the highway without much resistance, but for offroad you can set it to much more resistance.

    So instead of fixing what is worn in the suspension we put a dirty bandaid on it giving a false sense of security, I thought this channel was better than this.... bye

      its a 2020 i dont think it is messed up yet but this may help prevent it less jiggling around with a better damper from the bumps

    • @Toolsinaction
      @Toolsinaction 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      JL Jeeps are known for steering issues. It mostly boils down to an aluminum steering box that heats up and gets sloppy, they fixed it in 21 and newer I believe with a steel gearbox. They also had some faulty steering stabilizers, what Tim did here is exactly what he should have. The Jeep is a 2020 why start replacing expensive steering components when you don't have to. Start with a simple yet highly effective mod like the what he did here. Also lowering the front air pressure of the tires helps.

      Someone said when you put larger tires on it .nothing to do with stock jeep. Up grades require Up grades even on Japanese 4x4. Put big tires on a toyota better up grade the Tranny.
