    Did a Fix 2.0 2” level up front on my new 2023 F150 from the stock rear shocks with Fox 2.0’s smooth bodies and noticed softer ride. Took the 2.0 rear shocks off (keeping them as backup) and I installed the rear Elite Performance DSC’s shocks and what an amazing ride quality. Absolutely LOVE FOX ELITE PERFORMANCE DSC’s!

      Absolutely, a completely different riding truck. I’d see people consistently saying that their new performance shock upgrades were better riding than stock (hard to beat) and being I’ve tried everything I’d have to say that it’s almost robotic like to where the suspension actually has a brain of itself and completely controls everything from swaying side to side, bounce and especially noticed it all this weekend hog hunting trip where a buddy of mine rode in the vehicle with me and just after at least a 1/4 mile then stopping at stop sign turned to me and said how does your truck ride so smooth? I’ve had everything installed through the years, even Kings before and the Fox Elite Performance shocks blow them all away. Thanks and God Bless

    Looking to upgrade on 2001 F350 4X4 SD shocks. Truck has air bags on rear and will be used to haul a Lance camper or maybe a 5th wheel. Truck lives in southern Baja and sees some off road work to hit the remote beaches to camp. 90% of the time it sees what we have on the highway but that can have holes deep enough to swallow the corners of the front end....no freeways here!

    Need help between adjustable Kings (resi's) and the Fox DSC's (oem type replacement) . I have a new 2021 F150 FX4. I hit the occasional Johnson Valley, Pismo type trips. Not a rock crawling type guy, love the higher speed stuff and I also tow. Hopefully that's enough info to provide some good insight. About to pull the trigger on Camburg UCA's, wheels and 35s however the suspension between these two have me stumped. Appreciate your vids, keep them coming.

    • @ShockSurplus

      Both options are going work great for that high speed running that you love to do. King offers low speed compression and rebound adjustment while Fox 2.5 offers low and high speed compression adjustment. Unfortunately neither companies have released parts for the 21+ Ford F150. Currently we get Bilstein and Icon for the new 21+ F150.

    I have a 2022 tremor and I’m looking to put Fox on my truck. I got a 2 inch lift and I think I want the coil fox’s do they make them with Reservoir and which ones would you suggest?

  • @DukeMaster1956

    I have a 2020 JT with a 3” lift kit from Rock Krawler but have since replaced all the control arms with Teraflex arms due to the Rock Krawler arms defective bushings which caused the dreaded “Death Wobble” at 70 mph. I also now have 315/70/17 KO2’s running at 34 psi. I used Fox 3.0 elite remotes in the front for my shock choice when I first did the lift. That was 50,000 miles ago. Now with the new control arms and heavier tires I notice a “dribbling basketball” effect on the front end hitting small/medium bumps in highway driving at 55 mph. I’ve adjusted both speed knobs Slow and Fast on the DSC’s to their extremes and hit the same bumps with no improvement which verifies they need to be rebuilt. I see that the shocks are recommended to be serviced at 50K miles but I need my daily driver and can’t afford the downtime. Will the Fox 2.0’s for a 2-3” lift be a good choice as a replacement short and long term?

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Fox 2.0s are not going to be remotely close on comfort, control, or overall performance, but they would be a great interim shock while you get your 3.0s serviced.

    I have a 2020 ram rebel with falcons at the level setting. Like you said, the truck feels sporty on the road. Not much body roll, no nose dive or feels good but the small bumb sensitivity it’s not existing. I’ll like to have a suspension that has another ride on the street. I don’t do much off road probably 95% daily driving and 5% on off road. Will the fox , kings better for my application?

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  ปีที่แล้ว

      Really depends on what you want out of the shocks. Both King 2.5 and Fox are great options. King would feel better for daily and still capable while Fox 2.5 are noticeable for being responsive on the street but much more capable on off-roading.

  • @JoshuaGeers-os3hf

    What would be a good upgrade over the Fox shocks I have on my 2022 4Runner TRD Pro? For added lift and adjustable ride/nose dive reduction. Thx

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 2022 TRD Pro comes with a Fox 2.5 internal bypass coilover and shock but don't offer anything else such as DSC, or further height accommodation. The closest thing to match that is ARB/OME BP51 which have an internal bypass, external reservoir, low speed compression and rebound adjustment. If you went with the aftermarket Fox 2.5, you would lose the internal bypass but get the DSC adjustment and more lift out out of coilover.

      You don't really need much. Looking Bilstein 5100 or Eibach Pro Truck, those would suit your best. If you want to cover more off-roading, then Fox 2.0 or any 2.5 series. Note, we would also delete the air bag and go coil spring.

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      A lot of it is going to have to be subject to your preferences, so we can not tell you exactly where to set them, but generally you want to back off high speed compression and stiffen low speed compression the street for more comfort and better handling, and go the opposite directions on both knobs off road to give you more big bump support from the extra high speed compression and more traction from the softer low speed compression

    I have a gen 2 nissan frontier in buffalo ny, mabey get off road 1 or 2 times a month, I found a new fox 2.0 suspension for 900 or a bilstein 5100 setup for 600, given that info and considering our harsh winters what do you think?

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  ปีที่แล้ว

      Both are great options. Bilstein would be better for daily driving, towing/hauling, and entry level off-roading while Fox 2.0 are more geared for off-roading. They both may feel a tad bit firmer than stock just due to how they designed but overall those two models quite popular in the community.

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Fox are going to handle the high speed stuff better, that's what they're built for. The Fox factory series on the 2020 Tundra are noticeably firmer than the Bilstein 6112 around town and on the trail. The Bilstein isn't going to require maintenance like the Fox will either.

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you're using the vehicle for daily and towing, look at Bilstein 5100 or 6112. If you're using the vehicle daily and off-roading, look at the Fox 2.0 or 2.5. Bilstein has specific parts for the Trail Boss/AT4. Fox share the same parts as the non-Trail Boss/AT4 but nets less lift for Trail Boss and AT4 trims.

    I am looking to do a carli 4.5 lift on my 2019 f350 and want to go with Fox 3.0 shocks for a comfortable daily with the ability to obsorb rough service roads. Does Fox make a 3.0 for heavy trucks and the correct length I would need. Please let me know, and a part# would be appreciated 👍

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately, they don't offer a 3.0 kit. Our boss runs their Dominator kit on his 2021 Ram 2500 Powerwagon with King 3.0 but those were custom 3.0 from Carli directly. We can definitely get a custom set ordered for you but we would need to know all the details of what you need from shock lengths, shock travel, Hose Length, Reservoir Length and etc. Lead time is 5-7 months.

    I have a 2012 F350 Lariat 6.2 gas. C.C. LB. 4X4 I was wondering how can I tell if truck is Lifted? Seems to be at least leveled and has Hellwig Leaf in back.
    Has I believe KYB shocks. I am not intending to go mad max but do go off road. Looking for good ride on off road and towing...mid range price and ability to smooth out the rough road and still be able to tow heavy.

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you measure the shocks at ride height on leveled surface, that puts the compression roughly around 40% give or take. You can then plug that measurement into shocks that are offered and ensure you're getting as close to equal travel to both compressed and extended. You can aim for having a little more travel compressed over more extended if needed as well.

    I got the TRD PRO FOX shocks ... how much better are the FOX 2.5s?? 🙏🤔

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The aftermarket Fox 2.5s have more travel and offer dual speed compression adjustment but they are not an internal bypass like the factory TRD Pro stuff. The piston is larger so they may be able to be more supportive over bigger hits, but they may not be quite as plush as the stock stuff since you lose position sensitivity. If you are looking for an upgrade over the TRD Pro parts I would lean towards options like the Bilstein 8112s and 8100s, OME BP51s, Fox or King 3.0 IBPs, or other position sensitive options.

    How do the factory Mohave Fox shocks compare with a 2.5 or a 3.0 Fox set?

    • @ShockSurplus
      @ShockSurplus  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The factory Mohave shocks are a 2.5" body internal bypass making them position sensitive so they are a touch more plush than the 2.5s, but since they have to run a smaller piston to fit the internal bypass sleeve you can set the 2.5 PES shocks to be a little more supportive due to their full size piston. The 3.0s use the same piston as the 2.5 PES but are an internal bypass design like the stock Mohave shocks, so they can not only be more plush but also far more supportive. Both the 2.5 and 3.0 aftermarket shocks also have dual speed compression adjusters, so they can both be set up to handle better than the stock parts. Neither the 2.5 PES or 3.0 FRS are available at stock height, nor should the stock Mohave shocks be paired with any lift without a shock extender, so it is a little hard to compare since to run the 2.5 or 3.0 aftermarket stuff you would need a lift.
