The best thing about Alexander Jacob was that he was an outsider. A perspective sourly missing in all other government machinery. This perspective was missing from officials who got entrenched into the system. This is a trait of a visionary-- a person who thinks about the system rather than reacting to the problems as it arises. Wide reading and curiosity at the same time the forbearance to navigate the bureaucratic mazes is what sets him apart. We need people like him in our government.
