Yes it's pretty silly, but to me it doesn't really matter. It doesn't matter if a person is so early in development that they're not even conscious, they're on the path to a full life they're at the point that we all start at. Depriving them of life would be incredibly cruel.
Ok, but seriously, the evangelicals sobbing and praying over a barrel of parts while continuing to ignore the half a million kids in the foster care system is so classic of Christians.
That's a non-sequitur. Pro-life people believe that these are human lives that have been murdered, which is a vastly greater issue than children who are cared for by the state (serious as that is).
@@hubertcumberdale6221I think you meant “false equivalence,” because “non-sequitur” wouldn’t apply even if my comment were a logical fallacy, which it’s not. It’s actually very relevant to the discussion, because it brings into focus the demonstrative, feel-good performance that evangelicals put on publicly while ignoring the help desperately needed behind the scenes on a separate, real issue. I call it, “Active inaction.”

They only pretend to care about potential lives to cover up the fact that they're power-tripping control freak misogynists. It's all about oppressing people who aren't cishet white males. Everyone in this country needs to read The Turnaway Study by Diana Greene Foster
I love that scene where they show anti-choicers harassing and insulting a young woman (who looks like a teenager honestly) to the point where she has to have escorts to the clinic. So like they're CLEARLY acknowledging how unhinged these "pro-life" people are but are just.... brushing past it?
They're trying to say that they don't have the same mindset as them, because they don't shout at you and explicitly show you how they really feel. Instead, they emotionally manipulate you by pretending to be kind and saintly. They say that they care for you, in reality they're saying "you couldn't keep your legs closed".
Exactly and she’s a teenager or young adult at most who could just be talking about birth control with them. She might not be planning on getting rid of a baby at all. She could be going there for any number of health reasons that aren’t related to an abortion. If she is there for that then it could be possible that someone forced themselves on her and she’s not ready to put her body through having a kid. She also might not want to spend all that time being pregnant just to either end up with a kid who will be a reminder of her trauma or that she’ll just give up to adoption. She might not get anything from it other than the pain of pregnancy and birth
It's on purpose. Saying "hey we also hate those awful shouty harassing people" attempts to extend an olive branch to fencesitters and pro-choice people who may be having doubts about their beliefs. It also serves to assure the quieter, more subtle pro-forced birthers who will be the actual audience of this movie that they're not like those *awful* people who harass women in need. A bit insidious.
4:43 This fetus somehow has enough motor control to try to kick and grab on to the uterus yet actual full term newborns die every year from not having enough motor control to move something as simple as a blanket away from their airways and suffocating to death. The way they not only humanize the fetus but full on ignore human development is astonishing. That fetus is behaving like a 1 year old.
Yeah, I know, I noticed that as well. You can feel however you want about this issue (most pro-life people, contrary to what many pro-choice folks would like to believe don't hate women, they really feel that it's m
Deadass. It's just pure fear mongering. That fetus shouldnt even have a heart yet let alone the consciousness to somehow identify something as a threat and actively avoid it.
On top of it, fetal demise takes place before the procedure, regardless of whether it’s elective or spontaneous. I cannot get over how they try to convince people that the fetus is still alive before a vacuum.
@@JamesBrown-gv1vg Okay but it doesn't take much education to realise how dead wrong they are... And using "they realllyyy think it's bad🥺" isn't a good enough excuse when they're trying to make it law
@@Cici-2202 True, but I'm pretty sure (theoretically speaking of course) that if any of our own mothers had the ability to travel back in time & choose the other option, none of us would see it as them just exercising their bodily autonomy, so maybe don't villainize these people as monsters who you can't possibly comprehend the reasons for their stances.
the part with the abortion and the baby is so true, when I had my 336th abortion, the baby escaped from the doctor and run out of the clinic. Now 20 years later he keeps calling me and telling me the same thing... "I could be a full grown human now, but because you aborted me, I'm stuck being a tiny tiny baby... I'm crying every night". And I cry with him...
That's actually a really good idea for a horror story! Can I use it in a fanfic? At least in a story about characters having nightmares about it. It may come off as condeming abortion, so I'm not sure if I'd write it.
@@aidennevada243feelings of guilt are perfectly natural; I think as long as your protagonist is able to overcome or come to terms with them in the end and recognize that what they did was necessary for their wellbeing, you can avoid seeming anti-choice.
you can write whatever you want, just make sure to put a note or tag that you don't share the same feelings as the characters. ie, if i wrote a fic where the main character victim blames and sloot shames, i can very easily say "this isn't me and this is a fake character with bad opinions" @aidennevada243
The fetus scrabbling at the uterus like a cat being dragged out of the carrier at the vet had me cracking up, and then when you compared it to Mufasa on the cliff I lost it.

The guy that says “hi twinkies” got his teaching license taken away in the state of Oklahoma for being a creep with underage students-specifically minor girls. His name is Troy Powell.
Statistically speaking, that “child” is more likely grow up to be a fascist like hitler, Mussolini, the daily wire creeps or most conservatives actually, than cure cancer.
I feel like you could make that "x could've cured cancer" argument for everything Charging minors with crimes, not giving them life saving care, not giving free and accessible education and heathcare, those feel like way more direct factors
Not to mention what are the odds of that fetus becoming the one to do so? Think about how many people are actually in the medical field and how many of those are actually innovating medicine. Not many. Odds are that fetus would be working at some fast food place while stoned out of their mind, being a disappointment to their parents like everyone else. Seriously, the chances of them doing nothing or something horrible with their life is almost obscenely more likely than them curing cancer.
Fries and Soda... like they gotta meet their baby blender quota each year. The level of unreality and suspension of disbelief Christian Evangelicals must live in just to make their propaganda seem legit is insane.
this was so wild to me. Especially given the miniscule percentage of abortions performed compared to their other services. Conservatives will piss themselves over 3% while ignoring (like Abbe's mom did) the help they give cancer victims and people who lack proper medical assistance. Hell, they don't even get federal funding for abortions, and often don't receive federal funding at all if they offer abortions as a service. But how dare we try to add facts to their narrative!
It always wilds me out cause like, if it Was on the level of the holocaust, wouldn’t the people yelling and physically fighting to make the abortions stop be in the right? and not the “common sense” “respectful” and calm objectors? Doing nothing?
Considering how piss poor I am, I would gladly become whatever sexy villain the anti choice crowd thinks I am. 10/10 would sell my soul so I can serve cunt and get my fucking PTO.
From everything I know of the real Abby Johnson, I get the feeling that if her ex isn't a complete fabrication, a change of name is the only thing keeping her from a defamation lawsuit.
it boggles my mind that someone was paid actual money to make that fetus clinging to the womb animation and then someone from the studio was like "yes that's what we want"
@@TigerPrawn_ lol yes actually, I think that was the day I unfriended him because while I can understand why a person might be pro-life (even though I don't agree with them in the slightest), I have NO respect for people who share dishonest/misleading stuff to try to manipulate people into agreeing with them.
This is yet another point I've considered myself showing that this story is most likely a complete fabrication. Many couples can function despite differing ideologies, but when your partner's career goals completely counter everything you morally feel to be true, then there should be absolutely no chance of compatibility between the two of you. Critical thinking like this is an important tool to keep from being taken in by tall tales like these no matter where you may happen to fall on the political spectrum.

I love how it's obvious the writers of this movie found PP's very widespread FRIES model for consent and decided it was about selling abortions like french fries somehow. Also, Abby Johnson is such a liar, it's borderline parody.

These things always make me think of the story my mom tells when planned parenthood comes up. When she was pregnant with me, it was the only free/low cost women's clinic in my hometown. And my mother couldn't go because she knew if someone said something stupid or hateful she would end up getting arrested. My mom has never had any chill. And now the clinic is gone, so there isn't a free/low cost clinic for women who may need it. All because the right fear mongered enough that people didn't know planned parenthood did *other* things, and a bunch of locations didn't even offer abortions. Just hormonal and physical birth control.
Most pph don’t offer abortions esp not onsite. I did a lot of volunteering for them in the mid 2010’s and the ones I went to did zero abortions and did the opposite: they gave women a list of resources and pros and cons for keeping and aborting. They do a lot for health not just women’s health. I’m in the liberal west too and it wasn’t like you could just walk in and get your baby aborted just at pph. What is even worse is Christian pregnancy planning centers are replacing “woke” pph. And I have not seen one benifit to them and I’ve been to a few. They are misogynistic and give young women misinformation or outright turn them away.
@@ravanaoski5621 Yeah, the technical term for those Christian operations is "crisis pregnancy centers." Why would she get arrested? For defending herself or something? I’m sorry to hear your mom went through that and I hope you two were able to have an okay relationship despite it.
Is calling a room a 'POC room' a macro or a micro-aggression? Anywho, my pro-choice stance began Pre-Roe, in my childhood when I was visiting my friends at their apartment. Their mom, 7 months pregnant, was in the kitchen with pots boiling on the stove and us kids running wild all over the place -- she had about 6 kids. At some point she calmly picked up her handbag and said she had to run to the store to pick up some more stuff for dinner. She left and never returned. Sometime later I heard my mother whispering with the neighbors, she had gone up to the roof and jumped. She had told some of them she was just overwhelmed and distraught at having yet another kid. Of course in those days you only had back- alley butchers to turn to. That incident has stayed with me all my life, and now at 72, I cannot imagine any woman being denied a safe termination of pregnancy if she so chooses.
20:00 That's a bio hazard, biological material is disposed of immediately after surgery, this would result in outbreaks, and just completely ruin the sanitation of anything in that room. Like I can't emphasis how much of a bio hazard that is, that would get the entire clinic shut down. 30:28 Any bio waste that needs to be transported wouldn't be shipped in broad daylight during the heat, it would be transported via refrigerated means in preparation for disposal. Like this isn't about the ethics of whether not not depicting abortions as a baby milkshake or cocktail is alright, but this is a clear and deliberate misunderstanding of hygienic practices as it proceeds to human bio material, like can you imagine a movie that depicts amputations like this, like 'no don't get your leg removed it'll end up in a plastic vat mixed with all the other legs in a rotted heated soup'
I had a medical abortion (the one where you take some pills) and this movie is so funny. I mean it can be very painful but I literally took a paracetamol. They prescribed me codeine for it in case I needed it and I briefly considered taking it during the worst cramps but they peaked pretty quickly and then I was fine. There was no horror show. I just hung out in the bathroom for a little bit till the worst had passed and then went to bed to rest for a day. The next day I felt physically fine. Maybe a little tired, but tbh the pregnancy was so stressful (I had hyperemesis gravidarum) I felt relieved and kind of euphoric to not be puking constantly anymore. You can only take the abortion pill if you're very early in the pregnancy so there really isn't much to see. If you wait till the 9 week cut off the zygote is like olive sized at most and doesn't look anything like the formed babies in pro life literature. I am thankful every day I could get a safe and legal abortion that went completely smoothly. Also fwiw I'm married and in my mid 30s, and literally had my first pregnancy last year. I and my husband want to remain child free so chose to terminate. Abortion is not some big scary thing people make it out to be, and unwanted pregnancies happen to everyone including people who are "responsible married adults". I was raised in an fundamentalist evangelical church and so abortion was always terrifying to me, even knowing all the things they said were lies. But having gone through it now it's probably on par with having your wisdom teeth out if you arent experiencing any emotional trauma relating to the pregnancy.

@15:19 the comment about the Dr Dobson book “The Strong Willed Child” is a massive red flag. Dobson is a founding member of Focus on the Family. They kicked him out because he was too extreme for them. Imagine. Being too extreme for Focus on the Family! That book is very popular in Christian fundamentalist homeschool circles. Because it teaches the parents to beat their children with sticks. A child under a year is beaten with a thin dowel, and the “rods” get larger as the child gets older. Ive never had an abortion, but I have had a miscarriage, which id imagine would be similar to a medically induced abortion like in this movie, and it was nothing like that. Yeah it was messy, but there wasn't huge chunks to scoop up off the floor, and the extreme part of it certainly didn't last 12 hours. I’ve seen a grand total of zero people cry while grossing products of conception (which is what the POC actually stands for), regardless of how religious they are. I have, however, seen people cry during autopsies of already born children. You know, actual children who were loved. Yes it's pretty silly, but to me it doesn't really matter. It doesn't matter if a person is so early in development that they're not even conscious, they're on the path to a full life they're at the point that we all start at. Depriving them of life would be incredibly cruel.

Never ceases to boggle me how ""pro-life"" people always care more about potential lives than the ones already here
they only care about controlling people and forcing them to give birth and stay pregnant. or die when the live of the pregnant person is in danger.
They are too busy projecting...
The ones already here can disagree with them, "potential" lives can't.
A lot of the same "people" are unironically "pro gun" as well.

You have a point!
@@personofthetao That is an insane way to twist it. That probably is what they think
It's on purpose. Saying "hey we also hate those awful shouty harassing people" attempts to extend an olive branch to fencesitters and pro-choice people who may be having doubts about their beliefs.

I’m in the unborn heart of Texas. A minority of people in our gerrymandered state vote with this nonsense in their minds!
Watching this alone like 5x was terrible. The watch party on Patreon was the only time it was bearable lol
Agreed. It's so terrible.

I had to stop myself as laughing, because I don't quite want to explain why I laughed during lunch at work.
"shes got aspirations" is my favorite line of all time
"My daughter (sigh) wants to (chokes up) make money (gags) to support her family..." (bursts into tears)
I am a registered nurse who has worked in a Planned Parenthood and this movie is an absolute joke! Fetuses cannot feel pain, have no instincts of self preservation, they have no will. To suggest that a non sentient entity knows that, that spooky catheter is dangerous is laughable at best and in all reality trespasses on the absurd!
Could not help but notice they let the main character get pregnant while on the pill, which is pretty common, yet according to anti-choicers all those abortions are just women using it as birth control because they want to go on holiday. Which one is it now?
heavenly father im sorry i laughed really hard at the scene of the fully developed cgi fetus trying to escape its abortion, can i still get into heaven please
The actor's veins are the only convincing part of their performances.
i didn’t even know pureflix did anything else i just remember them for having kevin sorbo get run over by a car
It's one of my favourite scenes of anything ever. "Kevin Sorbo just died, let's partaaaaaayy!"😂

THE LITTLE BABIES COMING BACK TO LIFE HAD ME CHOKING ON MY OWN LAUGH
Sorry my fault, I shouldn’t be allowed near cgi
that hand over the clump barrels? Yeah no they weren't praying they were absorbing its powers so that they can commence the ritual later
23:46 irl they’d have gotten that girl the medical attention needed. Perforation of the uterus is dangerous.
The fetus looking fully developed and being sucked out in a tiny tube, the use of sprinkler as a weapon, the praying like Harry Potter over the barrels……I’m sure if aliens could watch this they’d give it zero stars cause it’s SO unrealistic 🤦🏻♀️also,I LOVE your work and I’ve been rewatching your last two videos on repeat since forever ! much love 💗
I remember watching this when I was anti-choice aka anti human rights and forcing myself to cry so I would seem more holy to my fiance 😂 watching this now, we're both atheists and I volunteer for PP

Remember that horrific scene where the mom was “training” the baby to stay on the blanket in the documentary about the Dugger family documentary? It’s that stuff.
And this mom is bragging about how it’s the first book she ever bought?
That’s a “run away and call CPS” situation, not a giggle over coffee and cookies situation.
Years ago I found a copy of that book at a local Free Store. I grabbed it to get it out of circulation, and gave it to my Working With Child Abuse and Neglect college course professor so she could use it in future classes.
That is such a massive power move omg. Mad respect.
“if you’re a woman OR A MAN who wants to talk with someone about your abortion, your pregnancy…”
how trans inclusive
You know it’s going to be an award winning film when the “my pillow guy’ is the executive producer
lol this was a hot mess of a film. Currently pregnant however I would never force this on someone. I love my baby but being pregnant is the absolute worst
Frrr like would you make a child adopt a child no bro you wouldn’t also I know that pregnancy sucks balls I hope it goes good for you!!
@@FairyBarff right like the only reason I’m doing this is because I WANT my baby. And thank you!
If you know they're babies, why would you be alright with someone killing one?
Yes pregnancy is very hard, and I don't wish it on anyone who doesn't want it either. But we can't just kill others for our own convenience, even if it's over something very difficult.
@@hubertcumberdale6221 yes we can. when it’s at the expense of our own health and safety. And being pregnant is ALWAYS a harm to women’s health and safety. Best believe if it came down to my safety and life over my unborn baby I’m picking my life every single time. Husband agrees as well. 🤷🏾♀️
I love when people sum up pregnancy as “it’s hard” no it’s a sacrifice. A sacrifice of a woman’s body and life. I could die giving birth to my son in July especially as a black woman. That is not a sacrifice anyone is entitled to. It must be willingly given and if it’s not then. It is completely understandable.
@@hubertcumberdale6221 why do you guys care so much about the to be born and not the people born now?
Ive never had an abortion, but I have had a miscarriage, which id imagine would be similar to a medically induced abortion like in this movie, and it was nothing like that. Yeah it was messy, but there wasn't huge chunks to scoop up off the floor, and the extreme part of it certainly didn't last 12 hours. Maybe it is like that for some women, but in my experience this graphic exaggeration meant only to scare people
At 26:43~ another example of christian conservatives not understanding they’re criticizing capitalism.
It's also like really weird who tf gives a discount for a medical procedure if you do it before a deadline
They accidentally got real progressive at the end by acknowledging men might want to talk about their abortions and pregnancies.
I thought I was the only one who noticed that 😭
They actually didn’t but I wish they had 😩
I wonder what the pro birth concensus is when it comes to trans mem
@@airplanes_aren.t_real they deny that trans men are men so they just say "it's women's duty to give birth". That is unfortunately a quote.
@@airplanes_aren.t_real Trans men don't really exist in many of their worlds.
the doctors being MEAN to the girl getting an abortion is a nice touch. ALSO: i don't know how many times this needs to be said but PLANNED PARENTHOOD DOESN'T DO ABORTIONS.
…what? There are Planned Parenthood clinics that provide abortion services.
Planned parenthood does perform abortions but that’s not all they do. They do std and pregnancy testing, offer birth control, breast cancer screening, etc. they do so much for our healthcare
Planned Parenthood definitely does abortions, but that’s not all.
Wait, is “aspirations” a suction aspiration abortion pun? Damn, mom.
I absolutely choked like one would choke on the last tapioca ball in the extra chunky strawberry boba. 🥤🍓👼
I used to do makeup and hair for Pureflix movies, but I turned this one down because holy crap! And they never hired me again. Thank God.
I’m in pathology, and I’m dying at the attempted sappy scene where she’s claiming people cry when they see basic tissue pathology. I’ve seen a grand total of zero people cry while grossing products of conception (which is what the POC actually stands for), regardless of how religious they are. I have, however, seen people cry during autopsies of already born children. You know, actual children who were loved. I wish I lived in the snowflake world these folks live in where an average Tuesday for us is used for fear-mongering.
i giggled when the scene showed the “baby” get sucked through the vacuum with a “slrrp” sound like it was jello or something 💀
after watching the POC room scene I think someone needs to pitch Build-A-Bear Workshop with a Saw tie-in called "Rebuild-a-Fetus".

It's too political
I honestly always feels bad for all the children that plays on their movies.
If they really thought of the children, they wouldn't force them to act on their awful movies
Grew up in the church. When we were kids they would take us to “pro life” rallies where we would hold signs, yell at people and throw little plastic fetuses into the crowd. It’s a wonder how I grew up gay and liberal
Imagine a future employer is looking them up decades later, sees their credit for this film, and assumes it's representative of their beliefs. Nightmare scenario
I know right!

Me, getting an aborsh: doc you have to say it. You promised.
The doctor: ma'am I don't think that's--
Me: say it. Please. For my baby.
The doctor: *sighs* beam me up, scotty
It's movies like these that make it difficult to make a case for abortion, especially in countries like mine where society likes to think we're 'conservative'... Somebody actually told me that that's why they think abortions are cruel... And I'm like the f#@$. I'm talking about a fully educated person who considers themselves progressive... I just can't
Abortions are very cruel. There's a life in progression, very early in development but nevertheless they're on the path, but then they get cut off, and their chance at life ends. Yes they're too early in development to know about it or feel the pain of it, but that doesn't detract the the immorality of depriving someone of a chance at life.
@@hubertcumberdale6221 I would like to ask you what kind of life you're suggesting this 'person' will have especially if they're unwanted? Are we going to address the unwanted labor that the person who has to carry has to go through? The lack of child care and basic human protection for anyone growing up in the current state of our economy or even the fact that people don't want children and shouldn't be forced to have them...? Look if you want to talk morality let's discuss the fact that it is immoral to force people to carry a pregnancy they don't want, because that would be blatantly disregarding the fact that they're autonomous humans and should have the right to choose... While you're at it give the meaning of morality
@@hubertcumberdale6221 Forced pregnancy is cruel. And it can kill.
@@hubertcumberdale6221 You commit a genocide every time you wash your hands, bud. Does that matter to you, too?
@@hubertcumberdale6221Is there any other case where the government can tell a person to donate blood to another person? Because carrying a pregnancy to term is far more risky than donating blood…and in the US maternal mortality is so bad that even donating a kidney is safer.
Did the screenwriters have vacuum aspirations performed on their brains?? This was so much more unhinged than I could ever have dreamed it would be 😂
⚠️ *TRIGGER WARNING* ⚠️
i’m 25 & have been pregnant 12 times since i was 16. i have 2 kids, had 4 abortions & the rest were miscarriages.
i also grew up as a pastor’s kid & my entire family (except two of my sisters) being VERY anti-abortion (yeah im not calling them “pro-life” bc they don’t give a fuck about the actual “life” of a lot of groups of people)
my first & second abortion were medical (the pill) done at planned parenthood. although it was emotionally very difficult for me, physically it felt a lot like a miscarriage or super heavy period (i already have extremely heavy & painful periods so when they’re extra heavy they’re EXTRA painful).
the third, i got a surgical abortion at a private clinic. they didn’t wait long enough for the anesthetic to fully kick in and i remember feeling quite a bit of pain and telling the nurse & she goes “that’s not supposed to happen don’t worry it’s only a couple minutes and then we’ll be done!” (yikes lol)
she was right it only lasted a couple min and then as i was walking down the hall to the recovery area, the anesthetic kicked in and i collapsed in the nurses’ arms lol. they took me to the recovery room and monitored me for a bit to make sure everything was good for me to go home.
when i got home, i was in A TON of pain 😅 but after about a day i was fine
the fourth abortion, however, is where things get bad.
i had sex w my ex and he yanno 💦 inside so i took a plan b literally like maybe a half hour after.
at the time, i worked w all girls so we were all synced up for our periods. they all got one & i didn’t. i took a test; it came out negative. so i figured it was probably the plan b messing w my hormones or something and making me late. time goes by, they all got ANOTHER period, and i still hadn’t got mine. so i took a test, sure enough it was positive.
now, i live in az and at this time they had just passed more strict laws on abortions & i had already missed _two_ periods so i needed to act _fast_ .
there were no available appointments at any clinics near me (i even looked like an hour away) within the time frame i needed. but with the new laws passing, i had seen everywhere that you could get abortion pills online. so after some researching into them, i decided to order them. it was my fourth time, after all, not my first rodeo.
when i took the pills as directed and they started doing their thing, i remember telling my ex that it felt like i was in labor (instead of it feeling like a miscarriage) & that it didn’t feel right. shortly after, it felt like i had to _use the bathroom_ (a common feeling right before needing to push in active labor) so i went to the bathroom and felt something huge come out of me.
i looked down and saw the fetus hanging out of me…
i was quite a bit further along than i had thought bc it was a lot more….developed….than previous times
after it came out, i started bleeding *A LOT* (literally had 4 overnight pads stacked on top of each other & was bleeding thru them every 20 min or so) i was also extremely lightheaded and could barely walk but i refused to go to the ER bc i had fresh uh ✨cat scratches✨ & didn’t want to be held on ✨watch✨
the next day however i was going to be home alone for an hour while my ex set up the kitchen for his coworkers then was going to come back & take care of me. during this time, i got up to change my pads & immediately collapsed to the floor. i used all my strength to get to the bathroom and hoist myself up on the toilet. at that point i was fighting for consciousness.
miraculously, my ex’s mom (who was supposed to be house sitting) walked in the house & i called out to her. she called 911 & when the paramedics came, they said i had lost so much blood that i wouldn’t have lasted the full hour alone.
what had happened was the placenta got stuck in my cervix and so i was just bleeding to try to get it all out. i was hemorrhaging. i was less than an hour away from death and at home alone.
my point is;
*if you are fighting against legal abortions, you are only fighting against **_safe_** abortions. people are **_going_** to have abortions whether you “agree” with it or not. if you are really “pro-life” like you say you are, then it should really sting to know that banning legal abortions is going to cause more deaths of those who were pregnant **_along_** with their fetuses. are you really “pro-life” then?*
