“HE IS THREATENING ME AND MY DOG” *she cries into the phone as she quite literally strangles and steps on her own dog, hearing it being asphyxiated and yelping in real time*
I think that was purposeful. She's holding the dog by the collar for a while but it doesn't yelp until she's on the phone w/ the dispatcher-- I think she tightened her grip to make the dog yelp and add credibility to the "threats"
@@morganwaas4868 That is absolutely sick and disgusting, and something I never considered watching it when the video was going viral. On top of the racism she's a possible animal abuser.
And there it is. At 1:13:41. The word “Troon”. The GC slur for anyone they believe is too ugly to be a woman. Their entire ideology wrapped up in one nasty, abusive word. I learned it when it was used against me - an AFAB mobility device user who happens to just not be especially pretty, and supports trans rights. I’m not trans. I just don’t present especially feminine, and don’t care to try. The “We can always tell” bunch definitely can’t. But they’re OK with bullying literal strangers for not fulfilling the GC’s expectations of what a woman should look like.
@@a-rat-in-your-wallsyeah. It makes me wonder why i bothered marching in the 60s and 70s. If they do wanna be defined by their genitals i coulda spent that time doing something fun...
You'd think they'd at least try to make a slur that doesn't sound like the stupidest word you've heard this week. Guess their brains truly have rotted to that degree, huh?
@@rickicoughlan8299 I knew transphobia was bad, but that experience really opened my eyes up to how bad bigotry truly is. Hateful people driven by fear and a sense of entitlement are very very dangerous and must not be tolerated by anyone who wants to live in a healthy society.
"Imagine the backlash if another group picked a black sounding name to refer to a bad behavior when black men do them." Uhhh so all the ""Shaniqua"" ""Jerome"" memes and """""jokes""""" used to mock and dehumanise black people AND their experiences never reached them?? puhlease.
Oh also...you know who else wasn’t a handmaid in Atwood’s book? Older women, infertile women, upper class women, oh and black women because they were all rounded up and “resettled,” for being the ‘children of ham.’ For the love of the gods, why don’t people ever read the dystopian novels that completely undercut their point and shine a light specifically on their failings?
Because they don't care about black people because they think that blackness is evil and bad. And they don't care about disabled folks, infertile people and otherwise, because they don't care about who they see as invalids or aren't able to procreate. It's Fascism.
I don't get the several leaps of logic it takes to get to "tall cannot be woman!!1!" I'm a cis man at 5'9 which is, like, medium height for a cis man? I've known many, many cis women who are much taller than me. I've known trans women who are shorter than me. Height has absolutely nothing to do with anything. I just don't get it. We're also not part of their cult so maybe we're not supposed to get it? I have no idea. People are who they tell me they are. It's pretty simple, and I don't waste my life worrying about stuff of no consequence. The amount of stress these people make for themselves is truly the pinnacle of first world problems.
"Crossdressing is associated with serial killers!" By badly-written horror movies, not reality. I'm sorry you think Sleepaway Camp was a documentary, but I'm not going to give up my rights just because you can't tell the difference between the real world and a movie that was kind of good in the 90s.
Yeah, GCs constantly use Ed Gein as an example, but in fact Ed Gein never cross dressed, there's no evidence that he was making a "woman suit', no such thing was ever found, there was no evidence that he "thought he was a woman" or had gender dysphoria either. There wasn't evidence of any LGBT tendencies at all. Literally all of that was media speculation by psychoanalysts (as in, freudian ones) who never examined him personally, it was literally something they made up as something they thought a woman hating serial killer would do, based on Freudian theories and stereotypes of gay people. The thought process was literally: hates women > therefore homosexual > therefore transsexual.
Agreed, *but* Angela was based, actually. Up until the climax where she basically just says "ah, screw it," the movie is basically about the assorted types of predators, bullies, and bigots trans people have to deal with IRL getting their karmic comeuppance.
Once you've established that you're deeply anti-black, deeply homophobic and queerphobic, deeply islamophobic, serophobic (prejudiced against people with HIV) and transphobic...who is your feminism actually for?
Yeah it's not like they're only targeting any of those fields of hatred only at men (that wouldn't make sense either, because if the identity itself is bad, it's bad regardless of who holds it, right?)... they don't care if women get caught in the crossfire. They don't care about women at all if they belong to any of those target groups. Also thank you for teaching me about the meaning of the word serophobic, I feel enriched ^^
@@MerelvandenHurk they only care about women to the extent that they can relate to them. If a woman is too queer, too disabled, too poor, too black or brown, sympathy goes out the window. Thank you! I've heard the word serophobic from HIV campaigners. I think technically it refers to all forms of discrimination against people with infections.
As someone who is Middle Eastern and is an art historian of the region, the Taliban comments made me full of rage. What they failed to understand is that even if their terrible 'joke' about women saving themselves by suddenly turning into men was true, the Taliban and other group's whole thing is that they show up to a community and instantly kill all the men and teenage boys to isolate and terrify the women they capture... So not only are they being transphobic, racist, and Islamophobic, they are making a joke that doesn't even reflect the reality of what is actually happening in the Middle East. Which they should know, considering how much they claim to want to liberate them.
@@Sarah-re7cg It's absolutely bassfling how sadistic these people are. But the worst thing is that you can't even call them on it because they'll just say that whoever they aimed it at "deserves" it. The issue isn't whether or not they see what they're doing as hateful. The issue isn't even whether those people deserve it or not. The main difference is that they think ANYBODY is deserving of such hateful behavior. The difference is that they don't even understand that being against discrimination means discrimination IN GENERAL, not just against the people whom they claim to protect. They don't actually try to fight misogyny, they are only against misogyny when it happens to them, but not when they employ it. So their issue isn't with misogyny itself on principle, the issue is with who gets their protection and who doesn't. I wouldn't make such comments even about p*dophile serial killers. I don't revel in being intentionally sadistic and cruel and targeting someone's identity. I'll disapprove of their behavior or their harmful ideas with every word in the dictionary but I will never lower myself to the level of just plain sadistic cruelty. This one time when I called some people out on their cruel behavior they asked me if I wouldn't even speak that way about Hitler. I said I wouldn't. I said that even though there's not a single molecule in my body that would approve of or even tolerate his actions, I don't see the point in being outright hateful, especially when doing so would inadvertently harm EVERYONE ELSE who shares the identities they would attack by attaching whatever that person did wrong to their identity, which would then spill over as negative stereotypes to everyone else with that identity. They called me a nazi-defender or something along those lines. Evidently they don't judge people by their actual behavior, only by whom they target with it.
"Just because your experiences are real doesn't make them universal" is a thing many people need to hear. Thank you so much for making these videos, as a cis queer woman I've been trying to educate myself more on gender issues and this series has been so helpful in understanding struggles that I've never experienced. It must have been incredibly exhausting to make these videos so thank you very much. I can't recommend them to my friends enough
I'm in a similar situation as a cis queer woman. I'm in my 40s, and it took a while for me to develop a more loving and nuanced view of trans people. For a couple of years, I dated a wonderful trans girl in college (who wasn't out yet, but was quite femme and liked to cross-dress) and was occasionally uncomfortable with her views of femininity. She seemed to view women as inherently sexual, all T&A, and characterized largely by their appearance. My discomfort stemmed from the idea that there was a "right" way to perform femininity, a way that I could never replicate myself and had never wanted to. Was I not a woman because I didn't wear dresses or makeup? It took me several years to wrap my brain around that. In the decades since, one of my best friends came out as nonbinary and a younger sister came out as trans and began transitioning. Fortunately, by the time they began their transitions, I'd dealt with my transfeminine angst and concerns. I hope that videos like this one and others on YT help folks learn about trans issues, issues that are so different from those that most of us in the LGBTQ+ community deal with.
Yeah being mixed race (Mexica) is so fun. White women straight up telling my Abuela it was a good thing she had married Grandpa and moved to Iowa so they could "civilize" her. The statement horrified her enough she told all her children about it years later. You're only a woman to these gringas if you tick all the boxes they have set out that they might not even tick themselves. It's not just a racist world view, but a myopic one. Once again, Caelan, thank you for this and all this work. Please take a long vacation with all the hot tub time you need and lots of furry friend-oes to keep you company
As an Iowan, I sincerely apologize. There are a few of us here that aren’t disgusting racists and bigots, but I so wish there were more of us. I hope you are able to surround yourself with loving accepting empowering people ❤️

That is absolutely horrendous! :( I remember when I first played Red Dead Redemption 1, a game that takes place in the Old West in 1911, in the opening scene there's two ladies sitting in the train musing about how grateful the "savages" should be that they were coming to "civilize" them. It's intended to cause disgust in the game, both part 1 and part 2 are very clearly criticisms of modern society and Christian "righteousness" and how terribly the colonisers treated the native population. When that scene played it just made me angry and nauseous. But the game takes place in 1911, so it made sense to me that those travelers' opinions would be so horribly racist and self-aggrandizing. But that was 1911. Over a century ago. You'd think people would've learned since then, but no. Myopic is a fantastic way to describe it. They literally can't see past their own morals and opinions.
Disgusting people exist everywhere in Western countries. But most of them dont say it outright. Its baffling what right wing people can say when there arent any POC around to hear them. My mom has some weird nazi-adgacent/white supremacist opinions on race mixing, but she has the decency to not say it in public. Its much harder for me to drop every downright bigotted friend I have, since I'm very openly a leftist person. But those types of people feel a bit more comfortable expression their opinion around me since I'm white. I'm sorry that happened to you.
Amy Cooper did not deserve this man's forgiveness and she deserved more consequences than just losing her job. The emphasis she placed on "African American" in the video is disgusting, a deliberate weaponization of racial inequality to invoke fear in the target. Amy Cooper should have been charged and convicted for what she did that day. As should all those other Karens who abuse the racial/social power dynamics against marginalized groups in this manner. Thank you for your work Caelan. It must have been so very difficult at times to get through such vile discussions. I hope it will educate others and perhaps reach and change some hearts and minds.
Also I would say that the man was well within his right to start the conversation by asking the woman to put her dog back on the lead, it was nesting season and the chap was a keen birdwatcher, she was demonstrating her "privilege" in a massive way right there. Those of us who live in the countryside are much more aware of behaviour like that.
so glad that you're covering GC inseperability from racism right from the get-go. I've been burned so many times by privileged white women acting like their white supremacy is out to save me from my distinctly indigenous identity and understanding of myself. thank you, thank you, thank you. 🧡
I am a cis bi woman. I'm autistic. I have 3 mental illnesses. I have PCOS and many other chronic conditions, which means I often can look more masculine. I grow excess facial and body hair and even have minor male-pattern balding. I struggle with acne and weight gain, both of which are also caused by PCOS. And I have an irregular cycle. One of my other chronic conditions is Endometriosis, which means my periods have been the bane of my existence and so, so painful. I want to at least try for kids one day, but if it doesn't happen (and I have a feeling it's not going to happen) then I will get a hysterectomy privately (I'm British so rely on NHS but would probably save up my disability benefits for this). Sometimes, I even consider saving up now and getting my eggs frozen privately and then a hysterectomy privately so that I have options in the future still but might not have to go through all of the pain and misery from PCOS and Endometriosis anymore. A hysterectomy isn't a guaranteed cure but there's a chance that it would cure it and it's a chance I'm willing to take. Of course, I constantly see GCers say that "women don't have beards!" and "women can't be this," "women can't be that" and it makes me feel awful about myself and my appearance, but even more than that, it makes me scared. Hearing stories of how GCers have interrogated people in public bathrooms to see if they were "really women"... If that happened to me, it would trigger an autistic meltdown or a social anxiety panic attack. I am scared to go in public bathrooms the past few years because of the horror stories I've heard. This rising fear of public bathrooms has coincided with my chronic conditions leaving me more disabled than I used to be so I have just resigned myself to using the disabled bathroom only now, unless I have absolutely no other choice. I barely go out anyway but I shouldn't have to feel like this when I do. I can't even imagine how awful it must be for trans women. I once was arguing with a group of GC women about surrogacy. They had attacked a gay man who was a public figure because he had posted about he and his husband either having or wanting a surrogate, I can't remember exactly, and I casually mentioned that I didn't understand why GCers were upset over this and that, as a cis woman with gynaecological issues, I am thinking about freezing my eggs and having a hysterectomy and, when the time comes, getting a completely legal surrogate to carry my fertilised eggs for me. I was VICIOUSLY attacked by GCers for days on end just for being gynaecologically disabled and possibly needing a surrogate in the future. Apparently I was "treating women like my property in order to have a baby" EVEN THOUGH I LITERALLY AM A WOMAN MYSELF???? 🥴 Like???? The sheer ableism of GCers cannot be understated. They will GLADLY use ableist slurs, tell cis women who struggle with gynaecological disorders and infertility that we are handmaidens, and they tell me all the damn time that my autism "makes it so I don't understand the debate as easily as them." I really wish more people talked about the cult's ableism, so thank you for including it in this video. This series is phenomenal and so, so necessary. I will be recommending it to everyone.
they really seem to forget that many surrogates do it consensually. they cannot fathom a world in which a woman would choose to have a baby that wasn't hers in order to help someone else.
Fellow autistic bi cis woman here (my autistic ass wanted to write it in that order because it's ABC 😅). I'm so sorry to hear about all the suffering and fear they've put you through... If this isn't proof that they don't care about women, not even specifically cis women, I don't know what is. It's not even their ideology that's deeply problematic, it's HOW EASILY they proceed to just attack, demean, insult, berate and just completely destroy people. That's not just a failing of ideology but of personality. That's just a lack of empathy no matter which way you look at it. I've literally (and I'm not joking) heard KKK members who were less hateful, who just had wrong opinions about black people but could at least have a decent conversation with disagreeing people without jumping down their throats. The immediate speed with which they jump to "treating women like property in order to have a baby" is just beyond me. It's not a reasonable or realistic position, it's just pure ideology without substance. As if you would force a woman to be your surrogate, as if you would demean her for it or treat her as inferior for it, as if you wouldn't make absolutely certain that the woman agreed to do it with full and informed consent because SHE wants to do it. They infantilize women to the point where they can't even decide FOR THEMSELVES that they want to be a surrogate. I've heard so many stories from surrogates who enjoy the experience of pregnancy and are so super happy that they can help women with reproductive issues with it. It's so evident when you hear them talk that it brings them such deep, genuine joy to be able to help another human being like that. I reckon the thought wouldn't even cross those GC's minds because they're simply incapable of feeling that kind of joy. I reckon a lot of them are simply not familiar with what it feels like to actually help a human being in such a meaningful way. No, they'd rather take away a woman's agency to decide to be a surrogate (even though it would bring her joy), and take away another woman's right at having her own biological child despite reproductive difficulties. "Informed consent for all parties involved" is meaningless to them. They don't respect it. With that kind of thinking, they'd even be able to justify r*pe because they know best and they don't mind taking away other people's agency. And then I haven't even started talking about the autism stuff... but I reckon I don't need to foul any more words on the profound hurtful injustice and infantilization of their hateful bigotry and deepseated ableism. You know who also used "mental/medical inferiority" to take away agency and even rights away from other people? Nazis.
Past Caelan: "Future Caelan, do not put that in." Future Caelan: "I answer to no one. Not. Even. Me." ...I joke because I have no words to encapsulate just how intense a watch this has been. I hope you've been doing a lot of self-care coming out of this experience, and also while editing all of this together.
Former Trump voter - this whole series was a loop I didn't expect to be thrown for. While I never interacted with a GC group, I was the typical 4chan CHUD and could see major parallels to my old worldviews. Especially the topping up on disgust mentioned in the previous portions - "peaking" and dehumanizing the opposition. Thank you for putting this together and for how respectfully you handled parts that deserved respect - and trashing on those that did not. Big thanks to Sophie from Mars for showing me this series existed. Big shame that it's because yet another transphobic crisis is happening.
@@caelanconrad Sophie's video titled "Are You A Bad Enough Dude To Protect Trans Kids?" to help raise funds to, well, protect trans kids. Your tweet was shown within the first 15 seconds. I recognized most of the things in the roll, but I didn't recognize yours and hadn't before looked into gender critical stuff in specific, and thus I came here.
The terfs almost got me when I was a teen. Just for a minute though. There were videos shared of a trans woman hanging out/debating people or smth, don't remember, and everyone drew attention to how open and assertive and unafraid to be loud she was just because she got raised as a boy and how she is stealing the spotlight from the "real women" now. I though "darn, that's so unfair! I wish I had a priviledge not to be raised to pander to men and be quiet-"and a *click* Patriarchy sucks for everyone and they were *this* close to getting it but refuse to in favour of continuing to bash on vulnerable people.
Trust me being raised as the gender you identify as is a privilege that everyone should have. The woman in the video probably went though a very nasty period of depression over lost time. TBH I'm not sure her confidence had anything to do with being raised as a boy and have really bad social anxiety.
@@boserboser6870 Agreed. It's post-traumatic growth. That still means trauma had to precede it. And while I wish everyone that confidence, I wish no-one that trauma.
I think it says a lot about both the quality and heaviness of this series that when I saw it in my recommended I said "oh jesus, another one?" out loud even as I clicked it immediately.
I laughed at "do not put that in", and it's especially funny during a dilation joke. These videos are such a good resource, thank you so much for the work that went into this. I'm too poor to be anyone's patron, but I hope a comment helps the algorithm or whatever. Good job, well done.
@@XKenny77 , every single time a "gender critical" person has claimed that they got unjustly fired, sanctioned, or harassed for "just having opinions" or "just asking questions" it's been revealed sooner or later that they were the ones engaging in targeted harassment, actual incitement of violence, or non-stop yammering about the transeseseses. I highly doubt the coppers on Terf Island of all places are issuing warnings to people just for "innocently" musing on the fundamental nature of Man and Woman.
@@caelanconrad , life comes at you fast, but I seem to remember one situation from about a year ago where a white lady tried to cry about being menaced by the scary black lady when said black lady cut her in the queue or grabbed the item she wanted at Victoria's Secret or somesuch place, and the performative tears switched on when the black lady started recording. I also read an article a while ago about a black woman who was almost kicked out of her own college dorm by campus police because she was napping in the lounge.
Just discovered your channel. I’m a nonbinary trans man in the UK myself and have had to deal with a lot of these types of TERFs at uni and work. This video was fantastic and so in depth - thank you for making it! The racism, ableism, and classism of these people is utterly astounding. I grew up attending an all-girls Christian school and I swear TERFs are more into traditional gender roles then that environment even was
Intro reminds me of when Tomska ('nother youtuber, look him up, funny shouty man) made a tweet promoting a new shirt where the sales all went to a trans charity while holding a greatsword in one hand because it was next to him when taking the photo and he just went "lol sword". The tweet said, "ignore the sword". Replies just FULL of people spinning conspiracies about how the sword represented the oppression of women at the hands of "the trans". They did not ignore the sword.
The serial killer crossdresser thing is especially interesting because it comes back down to Ed Guin; a serial killer who was raised by a feveroushly catholic mother and the media really pushed the idea of him being gay/ trans. The thing is, Ed Guin was heterosexual.
24:20 "You only experience misogyny and not racism, so what's happening to you is going to seem the worst." Wow that's a really powerful quote. I think that's a really useful framing device for white queer viewers such as myself think that helps put our lived experiences into perspective: what structures opress us and which do we benefit from (and thus ignore)? For instance, being a white bi trans woman, transphobia is what concerns me most, and my experiences with bi-ness and womanhood are usually informed in some relation to my transness. That said, being white, it's very easy for me to access queer spaces, most of which don't have many people of color. Obviously, that's extremely damning, and who would've thunk: in the absence of PoC, most white queers I meet make jokes/comments showing racial prejudice, and there's racial microaggressions abound (most of which I probably miss even if I've learned about them), and plain old ignorance of racial issues altogether except if it's something explicit like white nationalism. (Not trying to imply I'm not guilty of doing that stuff myself because I definitely am.)
Caelan's personality and humor really helps make this series more digestible. Although watching it as I'm pushing to transition publicly is maybe not the best idea. Nonetheless, this is God's work Caelan, thank you for making this series despite the toxicity of these communities.
GC people do find a way to make everything about trans people. There is a post on tumblr going around that is about respecting the freedom of religion and not expecting other people to not follow YOUR beliefs, and OF COURSE there were Terfs and GC people on the notes making it about us
You know what's crazy? I used to think trans activists were doing this, and I kind of thought of it as being a wedge issue in leftist communities. I now realize that this is probably a tactic. I stand for trans rights now as the main part of my politics because I see you now. I'm glad I never gave those doubts any voice as I realize now how wrong I was.
Also I'm really amazed at the human expression being born in these very permissive times from voices that were previously not allowed to speak. Yet we still have so far to go before things are truly egalitarian. This binary is truly heartbreaking.
I also noticed how they implied that autistic people were neurotic; some autistic people are, but autism itself has nothing to do with neurosis or anxiety. They seem to think that autistic oversensitivities are down to anxiety and being mentally fragile. they're not. Autistic people have physical overconnectivity in their brains due to less effective neural pruning, which makes us both sense things more strongly, and be less able to filter out irrelevant stimuli. It's nothing to do with our mental strength or anxiety, it's a measurable physical difference in how our brain is structured.
disagree slightly, it's not nothing to do with it. Autism has many not exact strongly understood quantities , one of those being the commodities. And 40% of autistic people have some sort of anxiety disorder. Which is compound by issues in mental health treatment of autistic people (both in access and experience)
@@jasonbolding3481 the biggest reason autistic people develop anxiety disorders and depression is because of our treatment by ableist society, a high rate of bullying and exclusion in childhood and adulthood, high rates of unemployment, being disproportionately the victims of crime and violence, constantly being gaslit about our experiences and having our sensory and communication needs not addressed and not accommodated for, instead being pressured and even coerced in many cases to mask and appear as "normal" as possible under the assumption that that's better. It's not a direct result of or part of the autism, they're separate mental health issues that we often also have because of our life experiences. That's why so called "high functioning" autistic people actually have higher rates of anxiety and depression. Also, I was more talking about in my comment the conflation in many people's minds between social anxiety and autism, which is false, because as you said, 40% of autistic people have an anxiety disorder, which means 60% don't.
They never realize how much their hatred will also affect cis people. Growing up AFAB I got "clocked" (for lack of better term) constantly as a boy. And while that gave me gender euphoria as a baby nonbinary person, I think back on that now and wonder about the same thing happening today. Some people are just androgynous or have features that don't align with rigid ideals of gender. I think about how this will affect people who don't fit into certain beauty standards. About having to suffer genital exams for sports. I worry about kids with precocious puberty being denied treatment. I worry about intersex folks being banned from sports or folks who don't know they are intersex finding out traumatically.(As an aside, I've never had my chromosomes tested, so I honestly can't say what they are. It'd be scientifically inaccurate to make any assumptions either way. Not that the cult would care or understand nuance.) All of this on top of my worry for trans folks. It's disgusting and makes me fear for everyone's safety.
@@barf2432 In this context it means "recognized as", "found out", "determined to be", but with a specific connotation of someone finding out/exposing your identity without your wish.
God I'm so jealous. I'm not a very pretty girl-appearing person, but people always see me as a girl. I'm forced to have long hair by my parents, and I have a visibly bigger chest. I wish I was more masculine
Oh god, I know it's not the point but I'd forgotten how that woman was strangling her dog while threatening that guy with the police, theres multiple reasons why that clip is hard to watch. Caelan, the work you put into these things is staggering, I can't imagine the toll it must take on you! But it's super important work, well done
The armpit discourse is blowing my mind because I will never forget how freeing it was my first time seeing a woman without shaved legs who literally couldn’t have cared less about how it looked. She inspired me SO hard, my mind was blown. Now to see it FORCED upon children who’s parents DEMAND they conform by shaving off body hair is frankly baffling.
I could literally write 300 comments but there is one comment that NEEDS to be made: your channel deserves way more subscribers. The production quality and especially the quality of your research is just off the charts. I thought we peaked with bread tube content some time ago but this… omg And I don’t know how you managed to make me snort out my delicious water while talking about such a horrific topic. If you could tell, I am blown away and already a super stan
I have to say, what sticks out to me the most in all of this is the degree of magical thinking. How they believe that ONLY THEY could really raise a child, simply because they are female. THEY would of course coordinate their looks better, simply because they are female. It is ALWAYS obvious when someone is a transwoman, simply because they are male. Children will suffer without a mom... because female... As if none of these things have to do with behaviours that you learn and hone as well as talents that are demonstrably present across all demographics. It is pure essenitalism, discounting sociology or even just the reality around them, denying people ageny aswell as personhood. Iterestingly enough the exact thing that patriarchy has done to women since... about forever
It alo makes matters of toxi masculinity not bettr , by scaring men from being healthy rolmodels in their life. like eriously no one that ust hates men isnt a eminist. yikes. Not saying that its not mor complicated, but that "only women can bla bla bla" is bad for men and women and alow them less to break out gender normative behaviour, be less free. A i know gende ris cringe but that still is held on somehow, rather free it up for everyone. Alsio yeah terfs do sexism jut reverse, including the infantizing transmen and scaary, transwomen :( and the gender esentialism,.and reducing, to genitals.
I'd love to hear these people explain mothers who abuse their children. Like, literally abuse them in terms they would also view as abuse. Or even murder. If mothers magically know how to raise a child and know what's best for their child, why do so many mothers neglect, verbally abuse, hurt or even kill their children? I bet they're just gonna say they have mental illnesses or something. Mental illness is always their answer for everything!
@marocat4749 Unfortunately I fear you're right. There's truly no good faith arguing with these people... and I wish there was. Communication is key for almost all problems in life.
55:38 as a 6'3" cis woman, I have literally been stared down in public bathrooms. One lady even did a double take, looking to me, the sign on the door, and then to me again. It's humiliating and I feel awful for all the trans people who have to go through that any time they don't pass to the standards of whatever middle aged soccer mom is walking in.
I was bullied into conforming to gender by adult women, and it sucks. I had to stop shaving due to chronic illness, and I still fear that I'll get hate for not looking feminine enough for their standards. That being said, this video really shows how things really add up with different aspects of a person. While I have multiple health conditions that are a struggle, being an AFAB gender non-conforming person is seen as more socially acceptable than being AMAB (from what I've found talking to others online, as well as overhearing comments about people when in town). So I know I have things that both disadvantage me, and give me more privilege than others. It's a very complicated topic, and I'm glad I've been able to find myself and people who support me.
I have no choice but to shave due to crippling gender dysphoria but even I sometimes get tired having to spend so much time on it and stressing wether or not I missed a spot, now I am getting laser hair removal but just because I don't want body(/facial) hair doesn't mean everyone else should be shamed into also being perfectly smooth
AMAB older non-binary here (waves). Weirdly I would say most of my harassment comes off as misogyny. As it was primarily about how I should stop acting like a woman/queen. Though now I get dispargaging remarks about how I'm not being fem enough. Like if I let my beard grow in for a day or more, I get remarks about it. Like it's some how a sign that I'm getting over being non-binary. Though I've been going by some variant of non-binary title for over 20 years now, so I've been in the 'fad' for some time...
I'm a guy. While on a date once, a girl told me I'd have to shave my whole body to meet her standards. I have no problem with people having that standard for themselves or from a partner, however I did let her know, "The body hair has been here far longer, so it gets seniority. I'm not gonna make myself all itchy for someone who doesn't like what I find comfortable." Your damn body. How you wanna' shave it and when should only ever matter for food prep., surgery, aerodynamics, and personal comfort. Something else. A talk I have with folks who discuss other people's body hair as if they got a vote... If you were trapped on an desert island with the love of your life, how long before they're just sub-standard? Or, would you still love them months or more in, funk, scruff, and all? If it's the former, it's just superficially using someone else to get to an idea of them. Always gotta love people as themselves.. even the funky scruffy ones.
i don't shave either, i'm also chronically ill. i'm also fat and perceived as universally ugly. i am visibly gender non-conforming, often wearing men's clothes wherever i can find them to fit. my mother made disgusting comments about how i looked so pretty until i raised my arms and then i looked like a man and it ruined my dresses. uhhh... good? i'll shave my head before my legs or pits.
A few GCs still insist they oppose gender roles and gender stereotypes -- right up until someone dares to transgress against them. Then it's "oh, [clothing/makeup/affect/hair/personality] isn't *gender* roles, it's the *sex* binary!"
Fr, or alternatively, lately I’ve even seen them say that transness and “gender ideology” is the one with rigid definitions/expectations of genders and that they just “want to go back to when there was no gender stereotypes/when masculine and feminine didn’t mean you were a specific gender” 🙄 like for people who are obsessed with this subject, the lack of knowledge about it is truly baffling sometimes
I'm autistic and there were definitely moments for me. The open desire to treat everyone autistic like we are children for them to puppet is sickening.
Outstanding work, the whole series. You must have an impregnable mental fortitude to stare into that abyss so long and come out with such powerful words and sound arguments.
It's so weird to think about the fact that even though *I* am transgender and my identical twin sister is not, *she* is the one who has had to deal with this gender critical nonsense more than i have lately. We're both about 6 ft tall, relatively broad shoulders, dark hair (everywhere lol), big feet, and i don't think i ever really understood how all of those things were and still are significant barriers for her to be fully accepted as a woman by some people, and how that must've felt. And now she gets to deal with a new wave of women ready to pick her apart and/or totally disregard her experiences, *literally* because having a *slightly* bigger frame = masculine. (To be clear, she's a badass and totally capable of standing up for herself, and thankfully in no danger whatsoever of getting sucked into the cult. Still, i think we can all agree that it sucks when strangers decide to loudly express their how disgusted they are with your existence.) God this also makes me wonder how many people may have assumed that i transitioned because it would be "easier" or something. Like, yeah it's just THAT MUCH easier to buy a men's size 9.5 shoe than it is to buy a women's size 11 lol... I really didn't think i could take a deep dive into this stuff right now, but I'm really glad i did. Thank you for doing what you're doing. ❤
"Why do they care so much?" At 7:04 and I already had to pause the video and wait for my blood pressure to go down because of that stunning lack of self-awareness. This is going to be a ride. Edit: It got worse. "We are stupidbigoted, entitled, racist, ugly, dangerous/violent by virtue of our existence." GIRL THAT'S LITERALLY HOW YOU VIEW TRANS WOMEN
@@pandabanaan9208 I wonder if they also would've forced a cis man not to shave. I guess they wouldn't, because it's not about men needing to have a beard. It's just about enforcing gender norms on trans people, with cis people being caught in the crossfire.
Thank you so much for putting the section about ableism in there as well. It's one of those bigotries that is so wide-spread and constantly used against all sorts of marginalised people, but is often still barely an afterthought even in activist spaces, so it meant a lot that you included it!! If I wasn't already a passionate trans ally due to having, well, actually met and interacted with trans people, I would've become one the moment I saw how casually GCs use "mentally ill" as an insult against trans people, treat neurodiverse people as utterly confused victims of the "agenda", oppose all sorts of life-affirming healthcare and use taking away people's agency as a punishment or threat, throw around all sorts of ableist slurs and phrases etc etc. Disabled rights and trans rights go hand in hand and overlap in so many ways. As do all of these intersections. As a cis disabled queer woman of color i find it truly maddening what these people try to pass off as feminism. I wouldn't pass as a woman in their eyes on so many levels and even their own are constantly under scrutiny of being abled enough, feminine presenting enough, white enough, victim enough, straight enough... It sounds EXHAUSTING (at best) to be surrounded by people like that and I'm glad for anyone who manages to get out of there. GCs really only see a very narrow, very specific type of person as human and an even narrower type of woman as a woman. None of it is compatible with the real world and never will be. Keeping every trans person in my heart that has to interact with, or is dependent on them in any way. The pain and frustration that must come with this is unimaginable. This might sound cheesy, but I believe communities based on hate, fear, disgust, exclusion and control are cannibalistic and unsustainable in nature, while love and compassion and curiosity multiply whenever you share them. I don't mean "don't be angry", because I sure am furious, but be angry out of love for your people and not out of hate against bigots. Queer people are my people, trans people are my people. I'm angry for them, because i love them. I love us. I want us to thrive. And yeah, this slogan is overused, but love truly will always win, we just have to make sure it also reaches those that need it the most and stay loud about the harm GCs and other bigots cause.
I am amazed by your tenacity, I am cis and I have cried and nearly thrown up listening to this whole series of videos, had to stop a few times and come back to it but I need to know what we are up against and you have done a tremendous job.
It sounds so overly simplistic to say "hurt people, hurt people," but it is also true. Compassion is the only way out of the Master/Slave dialectic, for to pick up the Master's tools is to simply move in to their house. And while the Master may not be the Slave, they are still a prisoner to the dialectic. But while this may be true, or truer than true, I think it is spiritual by-passing to shrug ones shoulders at the harm that hate movements can and do cause. Compassion is recognizing that the trap is a trap, but also knowing that transcendence outside of the imminent is simply navel gazing. Cheers to this work and get your book published.
Oh man can't wait to overestimate my capacity to handle triggering content and trick myself into a shutdown again /s For real tho, while I may not be able to watch this video - at least not now - I want to thank you for your amazing job on handling this issue. Hope you stay safe
Seriously, if I saw a movie with people saying this, I would say the villains were badly written caricatures. How do you write this shit and think to yourself "I'm the good guy?"
Insert "Are we the baddies?" meme... It's really bizarre how *cartoonishly* evil so many of these people are in real life. That's the problem with reactionary right-wingers, though, they utterly lack any sense of self-awareness or irony.
Ok, this cracked me up in the best way. I dunno if you've ever read either of April Daniels' books, but one of the characters speaks mostly in ridiculous TERF soundbites that are very recognizable to anyone who's encountered it in the wild. I told April how much I appreciated the gag and joked that she ought to worry that some jerk would read her book and sue her for plagiarism. She was basically like "Ha, glad you liked it, but true story: my editor made me tone it down twice! I mean, I was writing a YA series about superheroes and she still thought that [character] sounded too much like an overblown cartoon villain when the dialogue was truer to life for a TERF, lol."
That person at the 10 minute mark talking about Marxism: holy hell, I legit cracked up. 😂 That race war they’re talking about has _nothing_ to do with Marxism. That’s what fascists want, not us. We want class struggle, seizing the means of production, anti-imperialism, etc. That said, we’re dealing with a reactionary cult, so I kinda get it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
If you ever want to know who right-wingers truly are under their rhetoric, just look at what they accuse their enemies of. I swear they must have been raised in movie theatres, because they are just _always_ projecting.
@@EphemeralTao Too true. Since I mentioned Marxism, I’ll give you an example. Rightists who throw socialism under the bus accuse it of being a system where a dictator or group of political elites control everything and oppress the people to keep them poor. There’s even the “bread lines” trope thrown around if you ever bring up something positive about the USSR. Meanwhile, much of the capitalist world has dictators and a group of elites (the bourgeoisie, to be exact) running the show while millions of people are in constant poverty. Oh, and America during COVID literally had people line up in person or in cars for any semblance of material relief. I don’t even like to entertain the centrist position of “well, both can be criticized” because it obscures the reality of the topic and because some people who say this don’t really criticize both, at least not in a way that is nuanced or educated about the socialist side of things. Like, there _is_ a way to criticize both, but rightists simply don’t know _how_ to do it.
"it's unethical to watch us without telling us your plans, no real journalist would do this" girl if you're so into uplifting women why haven't you heard of Nellie Bly? 🤣 real journalists have been doing this for 100 years
"35 seconds ago" YESSSS, YESSSS IM EARLY PUT THIS SHIT IN MY VEINNSSSS god tier content creator, thank you for making this series, it really is an excellent dive into this cult
Man we never should’ve come up with the term globalization. 😞 Who would’ve thought trying to articulate a politico-socio-economic phenomenon would have fed so much into these conspiracies. 😭😩
"Protecting the purity and honor of women" has long been an excuse for lynching--and, yes, white women have happily played that card against black people by pretending to be weak, frail flowers. Side note, but what's additionally fascinating and (from an objective standpoint) weird about the Central Park Amy case is how both parties maintained this air of middle-class civility through the whole thing---in other parts of the country, the parties involved would've at least been honest about fixin' to kick each other's asses---and I think that added to Central Park Amy's menace, because it showed that she fully knows how to weaponize middle-class manners and speech patterns to consolidate her power and vanquish her perceived foes. This sort of thing is why I've historically been slow to trust cis women, incidentally. Also, re: The Handmaid's Tale and the Taliban, because they're basically narcissistic crybullies, TERFs conveniently ignore the fact that both fictional and non-fictional patriarchies have no love for LGBTQ people overall. Even quote-unquote "civilized" countries have had laws on the books requiring that trans people be sterilized as part of their transition process. Also, the transphobes who seem to idealize "traditional" patriarchal cultures for their assumed bioessentialism don't appear to realize that there are cultures where gays are pressured into sexual reassignment surgery so that at least they'll be "straight!"
I was definitely surprised by the way he was reacting very... docilely? They're both interacting with social/cultural narratives in very deliberate ways. One, to endanger (if not have killed) someone. One, to survive (with minimal, hopefully no damage). I'm kind of reminded of a video essay about Gone Girl and how Amy also wields social/cultural narratives to enact her plans. And yes, so true. To everything you said, really, though I'm currently referring to the stuff about in your last paragraph.
The research you've done for this series has taken incredible courage, self-possession and insight. I can't imagine how taxing it must have been to do this. I really hope you know appreciated and valuable this work is, and that the essays you've put together about this awful stuff are full of humor and humanity, insight and empathy, courage and dignity. All three are really wonderful work. It's really helped shape my thinking a lot. Thank you. Also, smash the viewer/patron binary is just a genius thing to tell your audience. I'm in awe.
The person who has been commenting on your intros, again, here. Loved the use of the firebird, especially because it's such a heavy symbol in the HP books, and, well, we all know.
Before I figured out I was a trans woman, I presented as cis, male, and white--but I lived in Japan a huge chunk of my life. Something about living as an "other" in a society dominated by one group of people hypertuned me in on the experiences of my black friends in America. There are certainly cultural differences between _how exactly_ racism or ethnocentrism plays out in Japan vs. the USA, but just experiencing how people can subconsciously and blatantly disregard your existence or needs out of discomfort, misperception, and disinterest based on your looks makes you super aware when it happens to someone else. God knows I had enough to deal with being white, but when I was older, I managed positions at an English-teaching afterschool program and a few black foreigners from around the world joined as teachers. Listening to their stories about being black in Japan absolutely horrified me. Intersectionalism is real.
I'm a white autistic cis woman and the greatest discrimination I've faced first hand is not sexism, that barley registers, it's ableism, perpetrated by a woman.
Should’ve definitely saved this viewing for tomorrow, but oh well. At least my upcoming nightmares of being hunted by terfs for sport will also have excellent production value. Thank you for all the work you do, and I hope you’re staying safe!
This series has been such a great insight into one of many different forms of social media radicalization. I feel some of the heaviest stuff was definitely the very deliberate child abuse that is advocated for within the movement, but in this part I think you really managed to highlight some really interesting hypocrisy. More than any other point, I feel like the issues raised in this last video is a brilliant example of why the term TERF isn't even efficient enough. It is absolutely horrible to see the disregard for other marginalized groups, but once you notice how often they themselves engage in misogyny it really highlights an incredible level of cognitive dissonance. I really appreciate the format and it made me look into some of your previous work. Really well put together and I really like your creative voice. Keep it up, can't wait to see your next project!
I think a great way of telling if a community is a cult or not is how they react when one of their own does something clearly wrong. In a cult the only real crime is being against the cult in some way whether that is leaving the cult, criticising them too much or going off script too often. So when someone like Kellie Jay Keen has a very well documented history of blatant racism as well as stuff like literally calling for violence, abuse, genocide ect it's telling that few in her camp criticise her. They either openly support and defend her or they just avoid discussing her and her terrible behavior. Same with Lily Cade when she released her vile manifesto, few criticised her and some even defended her. A legitimate political movement would at least have division over this sort of things. Of course everyone has bias and people who aren't transphobic can still be racist/defenders of abusive behavior but there isn't gonna be a party line on things that have nothing to do with the movements goals. If there is one then it's a cult because it's the result of indoctrination and strict thought policing. It's just a shame that the mainstream media is so awful that they still platform Kellie Jay even after she has associated with literal fascists, been publicly racist and called for the sterilisation and deaths of trans people. If the media did it's job and called her out rather than uncritically platforming her the contrast between that reasonable reaction and the cult like GC reaction would be very obvious. This applies to a lot of GC figureheads because so many of them are dreadful people even if we were to ignore their transphobia.
this whole series has been a roller coaster of >"surely, these people can't get any worse" >Proceed to get so, so much worse this documentary series has been incredibly informative and eye opening, thank you so much for all the work you put into it
Caelannnn the voice overs convey the appropriate amount of smarm from these hate mongers and I thank you so so much. its equally infuriating and pleasing. Dialectics
Imagine thinking that talking positively about the Taliban makes you look reasonable... What really bothers me is when they talk about "cultures that hurt women" and don't want to fight alongside of women within more misogynistic societies who stand up for their own rights and risk their life or freedom for it. If they care so much about women being oppressed shouldn't they support women from these cultures instead of yelling at them for being religious? This reminds me of people who are super conservative and very much anti feminist who suddenly pretend to care about women when they can use it to be islamophobic or racist or transphobic. Very interesting
The most fucked up bit is that they seem to think the Taliban are only going to abuse and oppress cis women. Obviously cis women have it really really bad in Afghanistan but I looked it up and there's a Human Rights Watch report on how LGBT people are being treated by the Taliban. And what do you know, gay men and trans women are being beaten, sexually abused, killed, and threatened with death in order to punish them for being LGBT.
@@theangryholmesian4556 you don't get my point, the gender critical crowd doesn't listen to women who are hurt by these systems either and that's the problem, they don't support women (Muslim, atheist or other) they just want to attack people. Se with conservatives who *only* claim to care about women's rights when they can use them against immigrants (or trans people, especially lately) I really don't know what your point is
This series has been excellent, I've learned so much from it (as hard as it can be to watch at times). As a Bigender/genderfluid person, I know how lucky I am to have family that supports me (my transition isn't exactly textbook, and it's been difficult even with parental support). I certainly know from having friends with unsupportive parents how damaging their lack of support (and outright bullying) can be, but seeing people like them spreading this harmful belief to other parents really hurts. They're spreading a damaging, harmful ideology under the guise of good parenting and it's going to have a body count. I wish I could do more to help, but I can barely help my friends and take care of myself. I hope this video inspires others to act. These are children. They should be surrounded by supportive adults, not isolated so they can be abused behind closed doors. If what they're doing is so good, then why not show it off to the world? Unless, of course, they know others would never understand...would judge them for doing this... And sadly, as some of my friends can attest, parents will often extend this control into adulthood. When you have to choose between living under their roof or living on the street, it's hardly a choice at all. I have a friend who is constantly having to fish his medication out of the garbage, but he can't afford to live on his own, not in _this_ economy... Transphobia costs lives, and I'm doing my best to ensure it can't claim my friends, but I'm losing the battle...we need help...
If I could say just a small thing about myself, one of the reasons I started watching content about trans issues more in detail is because a close friend of mine turned out to be mildly transphobic, and it hurts me a lot. I wanted to be as informed as I possibly could, so that if only in my head, I could have the most comprehensive understanding possible to counter the rhetoric she finds compelling. Because let's face it, to many of us, GCs have arguments. They play on the deeply engrained prejudices and instincts that many of us have, the same way racists or other kinds of sexists do. But more than that "gut feeling", it's hard to go against something that seemingly has plausible arguments, like claiming that socialization essentializes one into a male or female in an unchanging way, claims that are hard to disprove without data. I understand that when all is said and done abstract theoretical or philosophical arguments are completely irrelevant when we're talking about actual people being genocided here, but still, if only for the fencesitters, we need to have all the information possible. And I think you've done a fanstastic job bringing an invaluable, comprehensive report on this whole movement. Thank you, truly. I'll most certainly refer back to this series many times in the future.
hey caelan. thanks for this. ive been recommending this series to anyone who would listen and am now finishing up this finale with the ends of a popcorn bucket. in all seriousness though, you did a really good job. you very effectively layed out things ive seen within these communities but have struggled to communicate both convincingly AND succinctly, extremely well. congratulations; u get this trans womans stamp of approval :^)
It's always fascinating how conservatives so completely misunderstand anti-authoritarian science fiction media and try to reappropriate for their movements.
Much of what GC people say does seem to be a genuine trigger response turned into an ideology that vilifies an enemy they perceive as vulnerable enough to fight. I can see how that can make one feel better, how important the perception of oneself as a heroine is in that circumstance. It must be incredibly hard to get out of that mindset as feeling angry and disgusted is so much more bearable than helplessness. And now the political power of the movement is exacerbated by those who hold bigoted beliefs for a variety of reasons, Christian fundamentalism and its likes. Most GCs probably do genuinely consider their bigotry against Trans people feminist but the anti-Rainbow coalition they are in now certainly does not give a shit. Having self-proclaimed feminists on their side makes them look open-minded and modern when they are everything but. GC talking points are a tool used by oppressive, mostly male groups and isn’t that something that should make one reconsider.
Did not expect to be deeply questioning and examining my stances as a feminist while watching a video on GC, but I welcome the experience. Thanks for making me examine and reflect on my worldviews.
Okay, so my Mom tried to join the Concerned Parents FB group (not knowing what it was, and thinking it would help find support for me after I got hurt) She filled out the form they give you to request to join and said in it that she supports me. Two hours later her FB account was suddenly locked for "Community Standards violations". This was the only thing she'd done on FB in the last week, and other than that her entire page is just nothing but photos of her cat that couldn't have violated anything. I don't use FB myself so I don't know if there could be a connection or if it's a very strange glitch, but the timing is really weird.
Could be mass-reporting and a bad content moderator (they're FB staff, but it's been documented a few times that sometimes they judge content based on personal beliefs (including bigotry) rather than FB's code of conduct), could be someone hijacking your mother's account (google have I been pwned to see if her email and password have been exposed by hackers) to post horrible stuff and then reporting her, there's a lot of tricks they could use. It's wise to be suspicious under these circumstances, as it's quite likely (though by no means a certainty) that the GCs might've been behind her account getting locked.
@@DrTssha I'd put money on the GCs being behind it. They're well-known to engage in brigading of anyone they disagree with, mass-report them to try and get them shut down (the Facebook algorithm is easy to game that way, and will auto-lock accounts if the number of reports is high enough, regardless of the validity). And Facebook definitely has a problem with reactionary right-wingers shutting down anything they don't like. I've see so many comments from POC friends who reported actual racist attacks to Facebook, only to get a response back saying "This does not violate our community standards". I've had it happen to blatant racism that I've reported myself. Meanwhile, my friends and I have gotten suspended for "racism" for insisting that conspiracy theories like "white genocide" are not a thing, and, funnily enough, posting anti-racism resources.
@@EphemeralTao ...how in the hell do they justify countering white genocide narratives as being racist? You know what, I bet they don't even bother. Regardless, that's messed up.
What a conclusion to this series! I think it shines a light on the reality that, for all the claims of "just asking questions" or "just standing up for definitions" gender crits try to hide behind, you can see a deeeeep soul sickness in the community. You can see the furnace of hatred burning in every comment, radiating out of them at all times. You can see the way they thrill in cruelty and disgust and aggression. And I think your series really seems to indicate that if the trans/gnc community wasn't the current GC obsession, it would be something else (Muslim refugees, Black men in the park, etc). They are haters in search of a target, not simply people onto whom hatred was foisted.
Amazing video series - very eye opening and horrifying at the same time. Thank you for making it tho' (I dread to think how uncomfortable it must've been to spend so many hours wading thru ugly rhetoric), learning a lot.
The first 2 parts were some of the most interesting videos I ever seen on TH-cam and I can’t wait to see how this one is. I’ve always known GCs were pretty bad, but as I’ve found out they’re somehow even worse and more insidious.
i've been looking forward to each video in this series; you've put an incredible amount of work into it and it shows and you should be extremely proud. i've sent part 1 to so many cis people who vaguely understand why gender critical is bad but don't really understand why or how damaging it is to trans folks; please never stop making videos
Oh God, I was waiting for this for so long!!! Thank you for making this. I really loved the section on racism. And yeah white women thinking that gender is the only important axis of oppression like this is so true. I am not white, but I am privileged where I live and this is true not only for white women but for any women who are just below the men who otherwise share every other trait with them. They say all this bs and yeah white women couldn't open bank accounts but they weren't affected by redlining either. I understand how being seen as a girl or a woman by society affects people in a negative way, but it isn't the only thing that can do so. I wish they would understand this. I wish when they talk about how the two genders are natural they weren't basing their experiences on just the mythical western culture they think is the default one. If 2 genders were a natural thing, cultures that were not connected in any way wouldn't have more than 2 anywhere in the world. This denial and refusal to accept the history of other cultures, what can it be if not racism. It's alright if these people just wanna focus on the rights of white women but they shouldn't be putting other movements for equality down because according to them their oppression is the only real one. They just constantly keep equating their womanhood with oppression and I feel sorry for them because they can't find joy in their own identities. This was pretty unhinged but yeah thank you for making this I love your channel sm and If I wasn't broke I would be a patreon.
I would like to apologise on behalf of my country for Graham Linehan. British media has a weird habit of claiming Irish celebrities as their own, and he's one of a short list of people where we don't bother correcting them.
Sitting through this series after a few months have gone by, having learned even more since my initial watch, I must say... Your caddy rebuke of these people at the end is sooooooo perfect. I'm doubled over in laughter, I cannot.
My "disgusted outrage meter" has been steadily overflowing with every new part to this series. It hurts my heart that these people can spread such vitriolic hate in the name of "protecting women." It's deeply upsetting how twisted GCs views of reality are and how hypocritical it is for them to be "fighting" oppression by oppressing others. Excellent video. Thank you so much for making this series.
BIG appreciation for the Queen shirt :) Oh and also the incredible work you've put into these videos in exposing awful people and improving countless lives... ...But also definitely the Queen shirt still, I love it
My only complaint is that, after the cat joined, he was cut off screen. Unacceptable! Great series, thank you... I can't fathom the emotional toll this must have taken
Is "I wrote my undergrad honors theses about black women writers" the academic version of "I have black friends"?
If that woman knows any black female writers who weren't recommended by Oprah's Book Club I'd be flabbergasted.
As someone in university (as student as well as staff), I can confirm that it is.
"in the 80s!" 💀💀💀
It certainly came off that way hahaha
Yes. Some of the professors who taught me used similar arguments.
“HE IS THREATENING ME AND MY DOG” *she cries into the phone as she quite literally strangles and steps on her own dog, hearing it being asphyxiated and yelping in real time*
God, that part is so rough... like lady PUT YOUR DOG DOWN
I think that was purposeful.
I honest to god would have hurled so many fucking insults towards her. Fucking awful person.

They've looped back around to reinforcing unrealistic and unattainable beauty standards. Very feminist of them.
I'm so sorry you experienced that. Just awful. This gender critical thing is just horrible.
@@rickicoughlan8299 I knew transphobia was bad, but that experience really opened my eyes up to how bad bigotry truly is.

56 mins in as a tall cis woman who does not shave my pits or legs I am cackling in horror that these women think they are feminists at all
Same girl
Cults are insidious :(
@@marocat4749 Period.
It's why Feminist Appropriating Reactionary Transphobe just feels like such a good (but admittedly unconstructive) fit.
"Crossdressing is associated with serial killers!"
By badly-written horror movies, not reality. I'm sorry you think Sleepaway Camp was a documentary, but I'm not going to give up my rights just because you can't tell the difference between the real world and a movie that was kind of good in the 90s.
Or JK Rowling’s new book Troubled Blood. 👎
Crossdressing has as much to do with serial killers as sharks have to do with tornadoes
Everyone knows that black cowboy hats make you evil and white cowboy hats make you good. Duh. I've seen *several* movies
Thank you!
Their comments and “jokes” were straight up sadistic
Also, "Just because you feel threatened doesn't mean you are"
I'm in a similar situation as a cis queer woman.
I remember when I first played Red Dead Redemption 1, a game that takes place in the Old West in 1911, in the opening scene there's two ladies sitting in the train musing about how grateful the "savages" should be that they were coming to "civilize" them.
The way she holds her dog is also psychopathic.
Creepy how her tone changes from defiant taking to him to scared calling the cops
It should've 100% been considered a death threat
Also I would say that the man was well within his right to start the conversation by asking the woman to put her dog back on the lead, it was nesting season and the chap was a keen birdwatcher, she was demonstrating her "privilege" in a massive way right there. Those of us who live in the countryside are much more aware of behaviour like that.
She got both her job and her dog back. Ultimately, she faced no consequences at all. Fucking sucks.

Sounds like you've had a shit time of it. Wish you the absolute best for thr future, especially if you go through those procedures.
uu
they really seem to forget that many surrogates do it consensually. they cannot fathom a world in which a woman would choose to have a baby that wasn't hers in order to help someone else.
Oh
Nazis.
Past Caelan: "Future Caelan, do not put that in."

Wishing you all the love and luck with your transition, and may the terfs all suddenly forget how to type.

Neural...? *googles*
"Neural pruning is the process of removing neurons that are no longer used or useful in the brain."
OH MY GOD, MY LIFE-
disagree slightly, it's not nothing to do with it.
I'm not gonna make myself all itchy for someone who doesn't like what I find comfortable."
Your damn body.
@@nunyabidnis3815 We stan our fuzzy AND smooth brothers and sisters!
i don't shave either, i'm also chronically ill. i'm also fat and perceived as universally ugly. i am visibly gender non-conforming, often wearing men's clothes wherever i can find them to fit. my mother made disgusting comments about how i looked so pretty until i raised my arms and then i looked like a man and it ruined my dresses. uhhh... good? i'll shave my head before my legs or pits.
A few GCs still insist they oppose gender roles and gender stereotypes -- right up until someone dares to transgress against them. Then it's "oh, [clothing/makeup/affect/hair/personality] isn't *gender* roles, it's the *sex* binary!"
And the wildest thing is that the binary is not real in the strict sense.
Despite the name, they are absurdly uncritical when it comes to gender as a cultural concept.
Wow. This is actually the first video I've ever watched where the content warning actually applied to me. That ableism chapter made me feel things...
Sorry. It’s legitimately horrendous

Outstanding work, the whole series. You must have an impregnable mental fortitude to stare into that abyss so long and come out with such powerful words and sound arguments.
Nope, just enough rage to carry me until today and now I’ll collapse into a puddle for a bit. Lol
Still, i think we can all agree that it sucks when strangers decide to loudly express their how disgusted they are with your existence.)
God this also makes me wonder how many people may have assumed that i transitioned because it would be "easier" or something. Like, yeah it's just THAT MUCH easier to buy a men's size 9.5 shoe than it is to buy a women's size 11 lol...
I really didn't think i could take a deep dive into this stuff right now, but I'm really glad i did. Thank you for doing what you're doing. ❤
"Why do they care so much?"
At 7:04 and I already had to pause the video and wait for my blood pressure to go down because of that stunning lack of self-awareness.
This is going to be a ride.
Edit: It got worse.

GIRL THAT'S LITERALLY HOW YOU VIEW TRANS WOMEN
The part about forcing an AMAB into not shaving as a trans fem who has had a nightmarisch experience with facial hair actually made my blood boil
Sometimes it's hard to believe how people can become so evil yet still see themselves as heroic

@@sethrivers5303 oh my god i need to see those early drafts
That person at the 10 minute mark talking about Marxism: holy hell, I legit cracked up. 😂
That race war they’re talking about has _nothing_ to do with Marxism.
Marxism is just an anti-semitic dogwhistle to these people.

They actually use those places as proof that being trans is "more privileged" than being gay
36:30 " But Kelly Jay says it's okay to lie to the police"

This applies to a lot of GC figureheads because so many of them are dreadful people even if we were to ignore their transphobia.
this whole series has been a roller coaster of
>"surely, these people can't get any worse"
>Proceed to get so, so much worse
this documentary series has been incredibly informative and eye opening, thank you so much for all the work you put into it
Cis straight male leftist here. Thoroughly enjoy your content. Thank you for your undercover work here and exposing these GC folks and their bigotry.
Caelannnn the voice overs convey the appropriate amount of smarm from these hate mongers and I thank you so so much. its equally infuriating and pleasing. Dialectics
The atmosphere the background music creates gives me such chills, it's perfect
I thought it was necessary to have some chill vibes to balance out the awful content lol
Se with conservatives who *only* claim to care about women's rights when they can use them against immigrants (or trans people, especially lately)
I really don't know what your point is
This series has been excellent, I've learned so much from it (as hard as it can be to watch at times).
"You are opressed because of the law of attraction" ended me. I am no more.

Did not expect to be deeply questioning and examining my stances as a feminist while watching a video on GC, but I welcome the experience. Thanks for making me examine and reflect on my worldviews.
i'm british. the release of this video would have almost comedic timing if i wasn't so pissed off.
How did you know I'd just started watching part one?
I feel a binge-watch coming on.

I’ve always known GCs were pretty bad, but as I’ve found out they’re somehow even worse and more insidious.
oh hey i just finished re-watching the first two parts and thought to myself "man i can't wait for the final video" and there you are
i've been looking forward to each video in this series; you've put an incredible amount of work into it and it shows and you should be extremely proud. i've sent part 1 to so many cis people who vaguely understand why gender critical is bad but don't really understand why or how damaging it is to trans folks; please never stop making videos
It was very cathartic
It really seems a lot of GC's spread is due to the lack of resources and counseling for SA victims
this series has been hard to get thru, but here we are. thank you for all you do
I hate how good these videos are. Seeing this show up my subscriptions was a real "Oh boy I can't wait to be real sad!"
BIG appreciation for the Queen shirt :)
Oh and also the incredible work you've put into these videos in exposing awful people and improving countless lives...
...But also definitely the Queen shirt still, I love it
Leaving my sacrifice to the algorithm gods even before watching this video that I'm sure will be awesome
My only complaint is that, after the cat joined, he was cut off screen. Unacceptable!
Great series, thank you... I can't fathom the emotional toll this must have taken
