Lazyness and greed killed the fun of the game, and unironically with shitty pve procs and corruption the game has never been this unbalanced and unfun than today. And most classes have the same kind of abilities and gameplay. At least back then, everyone had broken spells so it was kind of balanced. Everyone who PvP'd at end of MoP will tell you this was the most balanced state the game ever was in PvP, for 90% of the classes, and also a very fun time to do so with all the uniqueness in each one with all the fun spells that existed.
I wish Kil'Jaeden's cunning was still in the game in some form or way, don't really like fire mages compared to warlocks even if I'm glad you still can cast while moving with them at least.
I stopped playing in Cataclysm. I hated how my PvE abilities got nerfed and messed with all the time, just because there was some balance issue in PvP. They should have balanced PvP and PvE separately.

Burst of speed really made me love playing my rogue, that was still with old combat spec before they changed it to outlaw. It was so nice because as you already pointed out it made running old dungeons extremely OP. I remember using it in LBRS pickpocket runs to farm Ravenholdt rep. Good times .. :)
Advanced Drain Life was exceptional for Warlocks, probably the best AoE grind ability in the game at the time that it came out. I remember using it in the starting zone of whichever expansion it was introduced and AoE pulling literally 20 fast respawning mobs, and being unkillable. That got nerfed pretty quickly as I recall
I used to have a Sap Stealth macro to hunt other rogues and druids. Was great. Never was mad that I couldn't stealth on FF because I mostly had great father winter dead or Big Bomb Pet (Self Destruct) the AH. Hint these were in vanilla. I got 2 accounts banned for these things. 1 big bomb pet ORG AH causing server crash. 1 big bomb pet IF AH (My own Faction) causing a server crash.
Cascade wasn't just good, it was fun to use. Sure, you'd just press a button and do a ton of healing for no effort whatsoever, but watching those streams of light bounce around while massively healing your team just felt so good. It really was too easy to use compared to the other two though, not surprised it got purged.
Warlock Metamorphosis where we could become a massive ball of demonic death basically. Was so powerful and fun to use. Too bad it was removed when they decided to give it to the new op class Demon Hunter.
I remember at the Blizzcon for Legion Frost DKs were told an ability to self res similar to reincarnation. When I played Legion for myself and didnt see this ability I was dissapointed. I am not forgiving you for this Blizzard.
God I miss Burst of Speed so much. I remember there was a combination of spec and talents that let you infinitely run as fast as a 100% ground mount AND be in stealth as well.
One thing worth noting about Shadow of Death is that the ghoul's suicide explosion ability did a flat amount of damage balanced around the assumption that the player was level 80. This damage did not scale down at low levels. So if you were level 61 in Hellfire Peninsula and managed to kill a level 61 Unholy DK, he could come back as a ghoul and explode on your face for 300% of your maximum HP.
I miss the version of KJs Cunning for passive filler movement and Shadow of Death a lot. One that i guess isn’t technically removed but got fully overhauled for being too good was the MoP Hunter’s Stampede, the ability i miss most of all.
Burst of Speed in Ashran was one of my favourite moments in WoW. Zipping around the battlefield while stealthed and pickpocketing people for their fragments was amazing.

Richard kesterson III Death Siphon. Cool thing I enjoyed about it was at the lower levels if t crier I could 1 shot mobs. Around the nagrand leveling area I just remember one shotting Zebras and Clefhooves and broken.

Alter time was what made mage special for me in MoP. It was extremely good (especially with snapshotting) but very hard to use properly, so it got heavily modified in WoD. Finally, it was removed in legion. I honestly haven't enjoyed fire mage since :(

Your information on Cascade is partially incorrect. Halo was much better for Shadow Priest than cascade in terms of damage, but also harder to use. People absolutely did use Halo and did so over Divine Star pretty frequently.
Immunity removal abilities had a short cooldown compared to the immunity ones. A warrior could shatter a bubble and an iceblock before the first bubble is ready again.
@@korpen2858 You act like paladins bubbles are the most amazing thing in the game when they really aren't. Whether disellable or otherwise, if you struggled with their bubbles so much the struggle is with you.
Ah yes, I remember the days of Deep Freeze and then 6 consecutive Ice Lances. Basically if your pvp trinket is on cooldown, you're dead and there's nothing you can do about it.
The worst part was that honestly, I thought deep freeze was balance until I think it was mist or WoD, where they made ice lances did a shit ton of damage and actually was shot out faster. Back in Wrath and Cata, when you stunned you did the frostbolt/icelance combo and not pure icelance. In shadow lands they need to make it that frost bolt should be cast for the combo to get the most out of it and id say its balance, that or make the stun a 4 sec stun since haste is a thing.
Patch 6.1.0 (24-Feb-2015): Deep Freeze's stun effect now always breaks on damage from Ice Lance or Ice Nova, but no longer has a chance to break from other damage sources. They already fixed this quite a while ago. It was mostly used for easier Polys on healers.
I loved mist walk talent for mistweaver monks, you could chi torpedo 30 yards and put yourself in range of an ally to mist walk onto them which was another 25 yards. So in a battleground in the span of two globals you could go 55 yards which gets you out of range of any enemy who is near you. AND YOU COULD DO BOTH MOVES TWICE. So many different combos to get you out of literally any situation. Insane mobility
I remember a server where you could use monk long range teleportation to steal enemy flag from more than half the map through walls and cap it in like 10 sec.
I still remember rogues being as fast as an epic mount in battlegrounds, faster if sprint was used going around sapping people hahhaa burst of speed OP
I knew the duel logs had a wow channel but i couldn't remember the name. This was recommended to me probably because i started wow again, so glad i found you :D
Kil'jaden Cunning remind me of Fire Mage ice floes. It got removed for Fire Mage in Legion. Because of the Bracer legendary, a proc that increases the damage of non-instant Pyroblast by 300%. Pyroblast has a super long cast time that you only use as a pre-cast before pulling something or you have the Hot Streak proc which make it instant. A fire mage hard-casting Pyroblast while walking is too good. They doubled down on this by adding PvP talent, Flame canon and Greater Pyroblast. Which basically make you want to just stand still and spam Greater Pyroblast (tip: if you see an enemy fire mage doing this... please target them...)
Dude. You missed off the DK's original _Corpse Explosion_ which made a corpse explode for shadow damage to all enemies within 20 yards. It wasn't mentioned, but this also worked on your pet ghoul, which caused even more damage. As an added bonus, mob corpses became bitting meat-sacs, or bone fragments. It took a number of nerfs, until finally being removed in Cata. It was later re-added as a flavor glyph, but only for the effect
About Burst of Speed. There was also rogue talent that increased your movement speed in stealth by 20% so you can perma run almost like a mount in stealth
You must have included WARLOCK METAMORPHOSIS AND BEING ABLE TO JUMP FORWARD (like goblins' rocket jump) and FALLING METEOR GLYPH! All the mobility we had thanks to Metamorphosis! I loved having a warlock main back in MOP. Nightmares, Falling Meteor, Dark Apothesis and all other cool glyphs and abilities. I remember playing as the highest DPS + back up tank in mythic dungeons, oh man... BFA could never. And that was when we received the green fire questline, so much depth and juicy lore... Even though it had nothing to do with legion and demons, warlocks received so much love in that expansion. Too bad now legion is gone and it won't make sense lorewise to discover new demon species and such..
Kil'jaeden's cunning? Oh please, Blizz has removed Demonology Metamorphosis because if they shiped DH in Legion with MoP/WoD Demonology around, DH would looked like a cheap-half beaked copy of a great spec.
@@spinodino3634 I will never understand the OBSESSION over necromancer. It will never be in the game because it makes no sense when death knights and warlocks exist. Just find or make a custom model that turns demonology warlocks' pets into skeletons, there ya go - necromancer made.

There was this time in WoD when rogues could use most of their opening abilities on a 40 yrd range - so it basically added the shadowstep effect to abilities like ambush. I don't remember playing many BGs back then, but i imagine it must have been quite the fun ;:)
The big issue with deep freeze wasn't that the target remained frozen but rather than it was an instant CC that allowed for an uncontested follow sheep CC chain. It also did significant damage in PvE and would be used on CD or during burst windows to maximize damage.

Anyone remember those times when a wipe occurred but a MVP hunter deterrenced and lived through a raid wipe and they finish off the last few % of the boss while their pet held complete aggro?
Raven I remember frozen shots, I got so tilted when I watched pilav vs zumio he couldn’t even touch him
Frozen ammo was absolutely broken I remember kiting a fury warrior (when sudden death was crazy) I felt bad for him because I was absolutely untouched the whole fight which was absurd and moving while casting aim shit was also broke. To
And don't forget that dk spell that converted runic power to health. It was there since mop but I remember at the beginning of WOD it was broken along side with how strong dks were
I just want Cascade back 😭
Prismatic Crystal for mages. Hands down the most OP thing I've used in 15 years of WoW.
Prismatic crystal, dragon breath, that refresh abilities skill, repeat. Fastest arenas on the planet. Squeeze in a meteor for good measure
Symbiosis was a lot of fun imo, but sadly "fun" spells die to the argument of "too hard to balance"...
Lazyness and greed killed the fun of the game, and unironically with shitty pve procs and corruption the game has never been this unbalanced and unfun than today. And most classes have the same kind of abilities and gameplay.
At least back then, everyone had broken spells so it was kind of balanced. Everyone who PvP'd at end of MoP will tell you this was the most balanced state the game ever was in PvP, for 90% of the classes, and also a very fun time to do so with all the uniqueness in each one with all the fun spells that existed.
yea because the garbage community side of wow wish the game to be boring
God Cascade was such a staple of Mists. I miss the way priests healed from that timeframe.
"and now it's much harder for casters to do anything on the move"
*laughs in Mage*
I wish Kil'Jaeden's cunning was still in the game in some form or way, don't really like fire mages compared to warlocks even if I'm glad you still can cast while moving with them at least.
@@Carpatouille kind of tired of everyone saying "to use a destro warlock, just make a fire mage' like no bitch i like my destro girl just fine
I stopped playing in Cataclysm.
I hated how my PvE abilities got nerfed and messed with all the time, just because there was some balance issue in PvP.
They should have balanced PvP and PvE separately.
You stopped about 10 years ago, but you still watch WoW videos? Kudos
he's literally making shit up. he has no evidence or real reasoning just an assumption those things were removed because of "pvp" inn reality pvpers want as MANY options as possible to counter other pkayers...NOT A SINGLE pvper would have wanted almost ANY of these abilities pruned minus the mana drain ones. pls stop feeding into that false narrative
Ren :3 You’re joking, people bitch constantly about almost every ability in PVP
@@JB-xl2jc FIND ONE competitive pvper that wanted the pruning you cannot find ONE
@@JB-xl2jc We absolutely despise the pruned garbage and ever since we've seen a STEEP drop off in participation. also there is a MASSIVE DIFFERENCE between complaining and wanting something removed LOL pls don't tell me you're serious with that
Burst of speed, cascade, mark of the wild, I miss those
shadow of death + Darkmoon Card: twisting nether were pretty hilarious in WOTLK, the darkmoon card got no cd so if you're lucky enough with that 10% chance to be able to resurrect you could ress -> die and become a ghoul for a 2nd, 3rd etc time until you run out of luck.
Ah mist of pandaria frost mage: poly-they trinket-deep freeze-death to your enemy.
Always had to save trunk for deep freeze otherwise you were fucked haha
The good old days when being a mage was glorious
At least as a warrior you could trinket the freeze or reflect it, was way more counterable than blinkin twice.
I miss blazing speed :^(
Jokes on you I was a hunter and I’d just use roar of sacrifice so you couldn’t crit me! 😜
Haven’t watched yet but guessing have group will travel is number 1
guess you watched it by now and know it wasn't mentioned at all
Will Koons yeah
Advanced Drain Life was exceptional for Warlocks, probably the best AoE grind ability in the game at the time that it came out. I remember using it in the starting zone of whichever expansion it was introduced and AoE pulling literally 20 fast respawning mobs, and being unkillable. That got nerfed pretty quickly as I recall
I miss the old druid fairie fire that prevented targets from stealthing.
Quit WoW but still loving your content man
Gay
God I miss Burst of Speed so much. I remember there was a combination of spec and talents that let you infinitely run as fast as a 100% ground mount AND be in stealth as well.
Eyes of the Beast was the best ability that got removed. It let you roleplay as your hunter pet
And glitch through certain areas
One thing worth noting about Shadow of Death is that the ghoul's suicide explosion ability did a flat amount of damage balanced around the assumption that the player was level 80. This damage did not scale down at low levels. So if you were level 61 in Hellfire Peninsula and managed to kill a level 61 Unholy DK, he could come back as a ghoul and explode on your face for 300% of your maximum HP.
The Shaman ability to cast all 4 totems at once.
I miss the version of KJs Cunning for passive filler movement and Shadow of Death a lot. One that i guess isn’t technically removed but got fully overhauled for being too good was the MoP Hunter’s Stampede, the ability i miss most of all.
I remember Aspect of the Fox in WoD. Everyone gets to cast while moving with enough hunters in the raid.
Burst of Speed in Ashran was one of my favourite moments in WoW. Zipping around the battlefield while stealthed and pickpocketing people for their fragments was amazing.
Oh man i remember getting so frustrated with early DKs in PVP. They were already way to strong but even if you managed to kill one they came back and you had to kill them again! Good times...
I miss having "Dark siphon" on my death knight. It was OP in PVP
Richard kesterson III Death Siphon. Cool thing I enjoyed about it was at the lower levels if t crier I could 1 shot mobs. Around the nagrand leveling area I just remember one shotting Zebras and Clefhooves and broken.
I remember symbiosis. If I got it as a mage, I would get healing touch, so I could be a mage healer lol.
As someone who mained feral I quit in panda because of the pruning and noobing of classes.
Symbiosis was broken but still didnt want to play.
"COS-cade" where are you from, dude? "Cas" as in "cast"-cade.
I was just binge watching your videos, and went to the channel and saw this - Pleasant surprise!
ah man the ghoul rez was a kick. screw balancing
I miss cascade. There was something magical about seeing multiple priests casting it and you'd have a mini meteor shower lol
Did no one else release how he pronounced cascade?
In cata I mained arms warrior and we would shattering throw on the spawning adds on madness to increase the hunters/ rogue/ warrior burst. Or used on lust with longer fights on burn phases. I always wondered if the armor pen helped caster classes or our ret pally!! Love the videos!
"Cahscase"
Wouldn't be a hiru video without odd pronunciations XD
It has to be on purpose, it's incredible how consistent it is
Cosscade
I think it's on purpose. He chooses words he KNOWS will bother people and then sits back and chuckles at people correcting him.
Symbyeohsis
Burst of Speed was incredible. Combined with certain talents and glyphs, it meant you could be as fast as a ground mount WHILE stealthed. I miss it so much.
I always enjoy these videos. Never have I said wow I wish I did something else.
Alter time was what made mage special for me in MoP. It was extremely good (especially with snapshotting) but very hard to use properly, so it got heavily modified in WoD. Finally, it was removed in legion. I honestly haven't enjoyed fire mage since :(
That's one of the reasons why I prefer Affliction for warlocks there's a lot of their spells that are instant cast keeps you quite mobile
And makes you useless in the majority of aoe scenarios, great :)
Being Aff and being able to move is nice and all, but I worked really hard for my Green Fire, and by the -Love- Hate of Sargeras, I *WILL* stay Destro, doesnt matter if my spec is crippled.
Fiusha Ironfoot but it's not crippled?
@@Jeryyyyyy875
Really? Havent played since the Start of BFA (All chars leveled to max lvl), mostly due to Friends waiting for Shadowlands, and all I've heard are salty Destro Locks complaining, so I had guessed it was underperforming.
@@XochiCh Why would you ever base anything you say off of people complaining on the internet.
Really liked deep freeze in cataclysm and was disappointed when it was removed.
Four words "Have group, Will travel"
That wasn't a good ability, it was just a excuse for lazy people to never bother moving anywhere.
I agree. They nerfed guild abilities that many worked really hard to get. Moving alts was so much easier with that ability.
Hell yea. Used that all the time in world pvp
The greatest ability they got rid of. Was so stupid to even remove it
You forgot to mention the most important feature of Shadow of Death, which was that if you had it, and then used the corpse explosion ability of the ghoul to kill yourself, you didn't lose any durability for dying.
What about Legion Emerald Nightmare Surrender to Madness? Not really removed, but might aswell be removed, since nobody plays it anyway since 2+ years.
Those were the good old days. It felt so fucking good.
RIP Surrender to Madness. i honestly think that ability ruined the game for me, nothing will ever feel as good as that ability did
the boss mechanic made the talent broken not the talent itself
@@Arthas35788 It was good on multiple fights.
It was the first time i was actually excited every pull, because i knew that id either die, doing 0 dmg or be a complete god. No other class had/has this type of min/maxing with the excitement bound to it. I liked the fact, that there was actually a difference between good and less good players for once, since it made me WANT to become good, instead of just being decent, because you have a 2 button rotation that you can do while sleeping.
Blizzard's rule #1:
True fun is outlawed
Your information on Cascade is partially incorrect. Halo was much better for Shadow Priest than cascade in terms of damage, but also harder to use. People absolutely did use Halo and did so over Divine Star pretty frequently.
This calls for "Divine intervention"
GOD I MISS DEEP FREEZE!!!!!, THANK YOU FOR INCLUDING IT
"Abilities that remove immunities are too strong" Oh yeah but being literally un-killable while being able to heal is not????
Immunity removal abilities had a short cooldown compared to the immunity ones. A warrior could shatter a bubble and an iceblock before the first bubble is ready again.
Why immunity is immunity if it can be dispelled?
Make it real immunity or remove all kinds of immunities in the game
@@afc9447 >Why have play if you can counter-play?
Why have stuns if you can remove them? Either make stun stun or remove it.

Keep up the good work man. I’ve always enjoyed your level of detail and knowledge. Very professional.

Cuz every time we touch i get this feeling!
I knew the duel logs had a wow channel but i couldn't remember the name. This was recommended to me probably because i started wow again, so glad i found you :D
I loved Cascade);
i preferred cosscade
What about Denounce for holy palas? I was regularly the the player with the most kills in BGs as a healer
johano1993 I loved that ability, also made players unable to crit.
The "Harsh Words" glyph wich turned Word of Glory into a dmg ability is sorely missed as well, was a nice ranged ability as a ret.

18:40 I LOVED the legendary cloth boots in Legion. They were so fun to use on my Spriest.
Kil'jaeden's cunning? Oh please, Blizz has removed Demonology Metamorphosis because if they shiped DH in Legion with MoP/WoD Demonology around, DH would looked like a cheap-half beaked copy of a great spec.
I would honestly rather have a Necromancer than DH, you press 4 buttons and you sometimes press other buttons and you win
@@spinodino3634 I will never understand the OBSESSION over necromancer. It will never be in the game because it makes no sense when death knights and warlocks exist.
Just find or make a custom model that turns demonology warlocks' pets into skeletons, there ya go - necromancer made.
Bullshit.
@@XAn0nymousX0 It was satire, though not very easy to understand. I have zero care for necromancer, though I will keep my statement about the DH 4 buttons stuff. Deep freeze was very fun but its literally ranged kidney and it sharing dr with kidney and hoj. Bringing it back would make pvp a bit more diverse
Wotlk cata pvp felt much more dynamic
They also need to remove Sylvanas' Mary Sue ability asap
There was this time in WoD when rogues could use most of their opening abilities on a 40 yrd range - so it basically added the shadowstep effect to abilities like ambush. I don't remember playing many BGs back then, but i imagine it must have been quite the fun ;:)
Remember when glyphs were interesting and allowed for a lot of fun choices? :O
The big issue with deep freeze wasn't that the target remained frozen but rather than it was an instant CC that allowed for an uncontested follow sheep CC chain. It also did significant damage in PvE and would be used on CD or during burst windows to maximize damage.
This video is just a giant “Blizzard: FunDetected” meme.
I get removing exploiting abilities, but removing certain abilities that could probably have an easy balance is just lazy.
true removing is always lame just buff sth else instead.
