When I was 13, my parents took out a loan that bought our house full of furniture. When I was 15 it was charged off (bad)... on my credit. I found out trying to get first time credit as a young adult like my peers. So confused, a furniture salesman took pity and showed me a report with a name 2 letters shorter than my mom's first name, which isn't common. So naive, I let it go and suffered the consequences. Many more years later and now awake about it, i brought it up. They ANGRILY denied it, and like the bully he is, my dad chastised me for not just getting it removed.. like i knew to do that as a teenager, early 90s "no such thing as the internet". 😠
@@antoinettebates244 Well, if your pops is like mine, your extra siblings should be coming out of the woodwork around now, if not already. Shameless. 😞
The minute you found out that your credit card was used, you should report it to the police. Then submit your own investigation to them as well before you say anything to your parents. If they resorted to stealing from their children, they can’t pull family card in argument. All financial information should be added to the report.
Hello everyone-if someone who abused you, plays nice, and wants to catch up and ask for money, understand that it was their main goal. They will quickly drop you once you say no, or become abusive.
Tbh, I don't think OP put this on herself. I don't think anyone could have predicted that the parents would've been so entitled to do something illegal, let alone against AN ATTORNEY, MIND YOU. OP's mom, dad and Liam ARE bad people, but they were REALLY good at hiding their true colors, so I don't blame OP for not seeing this coming, as bad as her parents were. I think James has a negative mindset, and, had OP's parents ACTUALLY wanted to change, it would've been bad, though he was rightfully angry at what his parents did, even if it was just past events. Liam was obviously trash for choosing money over OP, and could've asked for help in finding a job. As for OP's parents... I get the importance of making your child independent, and pushing them to pay with their own money, but the extent they did so was just absolutely ridiculous. They could've at LEAST made a LOAN to OP, but they just did nothing EVEN THOUGH attorneys are well-paid, so had they loaned OP money, she would've been more than capable of paying it back. The fact that they never even did THAT just shows how entitled they are. I don't have much more to say, really...
I wanna point out how funny it is parents choose something that comes and goes (money) instead of choosing something that is eternal (love) my question is where will that money go if it runs out? Their kids won't talk to them anymore and they ruined what little "love" they had with their kids, they had one job and screwed it up horribly
The least credible part of this story was the parents' financial adviser telling their daughter that they were nearly bankrupt and disclosing their account number to her.
I just don't get how you didn't suspect him of stealing your card when you let him go in your study room for a very long time and then later on seeing Bank transfers. The more funny thing is once you realize they were Bank transfers you were like yeah I'll just let it slide while I figure out who's been stealing my money and not completely addressing where my money is going until you realize it was your boyfriend and your parents
@@MindCaged ik she cancelled it but by the way she typed it seem like she took a long time to realize/ just to cancel and after the fact took even longer to put the pieces together... Like how do you let someone in your study room where all your finances are in and acknowledge that a person has been there for a long time only for later on to have Bank transfers that you know you didn't do then to contemplate about it just so you can cancel your card and then ponder about it some more while figuring out why this happened and who did what for a longer time... Sure some people have a different way of thinking and they take some time to process stuff but if you have a bank with a crap ton of money in it shouldn't you always have it in a secure place rather than in the office room in a very open space without any security to it. That's like saying goodbye to your money or carefree about who goes into your office room with all of your financials in it

@@C.Church That’s even odder and more off topic than your last comment…. but I'm afraid your attempt at intimidation is about as effective as a rubber sword in a pillow fight. 🎪😏
There was some definite foreshadowing of the boyfriend part earlier when she specifically mentioned him being alone in her office for a long time. Also, she posts this all on social media, but is using a throwaway account on redddit to post this? Did they get negative feedback on social media? Also, either the parents weren't as well off as they appeared or they were spending all their money on themselves or something.
OP was crazy to date a man who had no income whatsoever,, no job, what was he supposed to live on? OP was a little crazy or in denial about that. A low paying job ok, but no job, no way, that annoyed me about OP, no end.
Either people improve the quality of your life or they make it worse. If they fall into the later category you shouldn't allow them knto your life. Maybe you should give your parents more leeway and more chances to be better than you would some random person but if youve spent like 25+ years with someone and youre atill expecting them to change or continuing to spend time with them solu because "they are your parents." Well that truly is simply ridiculous. So they are your parents. So its going be far more painful go sever ties with them forever than your friend or so. But that doesnt change the reality lf the matter. Why would you ever involve people in your life that objectivity make your life worse? The only exception I make whem it comes to this stuff is that parental relationship to their child. Then it is understandable and it does make sense to keep sending them to rehab or whatever (pick the issue) even when they are repeatedly stealing from you and making your life worse etc. But thats becauae you have a responsibility for your child thats lasts till the day you die. Because you brought them into this world. You made the decision to give them life. You certainly have no such relationship to your parents. Again its the other way around. These people that believe you should never ever cut your parents out of your life soley because "they are your parents' are emgaging in a kind of denial that borders on insanity. Again, sure i understand giving them more chances than you would anyone else but time can come whem enough is enough and certain actions are unforgivable. Take for example your father molesting your daughter. Thats a one strike, your out, never talking or seeing you again except to testify against you in court. Such a person would be dead to me. I wouldnt care one iota that they happened to give me half of my genes. Thankfully i have flawed (like we all are) but fundamentalally decent parents who always tried go do right me but if i had parents like this girls (or a boyfriend like hers for that matter? He buy thise roses with her money? Why is he even involved in hypothetical investment talks when he had no money?) Id cut them completely out of my life like THAT. It would be as simple and as instinctual a decision as could be. It would suck. I would be upset about it but it wouldn't be keeping me up at night. It would be obvious.
